Today has been a momentous day for Scotland. The Supreme Court in London has in effect confirmed Scotland is a colony of Greater England. Even our top legal eagle social media user cannot explain if we are not a colony why do we need permission from a Parliament in England to decide who and how we are governed? The best I got was because the English judges said we weren’t a colony. At the same time they were telling us we couldn’t hold a referendum! Confused? You should be! It is not justifiable.It is not democratic and it is not on!
My panel of Eva Comrie, Yvonne Ridley, Phil Boswell and Prof Alf Baird help me analyse the repercussions that will follow this judgement.
Some Unionists are getting very excited thinking this is the end of the independence struggle. Kids, this is just the beginning. You have no idea what you have unleashed today. Indeed, I would suggest today signalled the end of the union. We have several obstacles to navigate, but the Supreme Court in England has inadvertently helped the Scottish Independence movement today.
Nicola Sturgeon’s inability to think strategically was exposed today. Her lack of urgency, her kicking the can further down the road will come back to bite her. She might think there is no urgency and she may have time to spare. The majority of people in Scotland do not have that same luxury or income First Minister!
Most of us know time is now of the essence all of us that is except Nicola Sturgeon and her tiny inner circle who have taken us into this constitutional cul de sac of their own making. Every day we remain in the union our fellow Scots suffer unnecessarily. We need an action plan, and we need it now!

We MUST get rid of Sturgeon and her useless, British National friends. The worthwhile, honest SNP politicians like Joanna must either cleanse their Party or leave and join another Indy Party. It’s the only way forward.

I have to concur, as an ex-skipper who’s job went to London when our Edinburgh operation was closed following covid. If I ever get back to it, I’m determined to do a PA in Scots/Gaelic (I’d need to study). I know it would wind up my ex-colleagues of every political and constitutional persuasion, who I miss and love to bits 🙂
Reference the cul-de-sac that both the leadership AND the hierarchy have led us down for the past 4/5/6/7/8 years: I would go as far as to say that, between them, they have betrayed the people and the nation of Scotland; Ms.Sturgeon may very well be competent, even capable, as an administrator, negotiating her way through the pandemic, etc – but as an actual leader ( lead from the front, take the fight / confrontation to your ‘enemy’, keep them guessing as to your next move..) SHE IS NOTHING SHORT OF WOEFUL..
She is way too interested in playing by the rules – Marquis of Queensbery stuff, RULES WHOLLY AND ENTIRELY DEVISED BY WESTMINSTER DOWN THE YEARS – and, at one and the same time, way too fearful of the consequences of a serious run-in with Westminster..
Play by the other guy’s rules, YOU WILL ALWAYS BUT ALWAYS LOSE; this is particularly and especially appropriate when referring to Westminster – past masters of ‘the Dark Arts’, with centuries of experience as to the use, control, AND RETENTION of power..
Bain needs to resign now, as she’s COME OUT for all to see.
And Sturgeon’s resignation is year’s overdue. Dragging her expensive heels all over the place, like a prostitute on steroids.
And I remain to be convinced that “our” politicians, have any skin in defending the rightful sovereignty of the Scottish people. SNP have shown only blind allegiance to their party and their pockets!
The Scottish Constitutional Convention needs to reconvene, if they haven’t already.

Eva’s passionate defence of Alex’s character and – accurate – assessment of his abilities could equally be applied to herself , albeit minus the Cabinet experience .
If not now , then at some point in the ( near ) future ALBA should seriously consider her appointing her leader .
She has the requisite fire , political acumen and straight-to-the-bone directness .

When a good pal, that you well know to be selectively-apolitical, begins the conversation by commenting bitterly on Wednesday’s SC judgement, you know your in a different place, politically speaking, to the one you were in twenty-four hours earlier. It is unlikely that my friend is the only Scot who’ll have been jolted and offended by the glaringly, undemocratic implications of the SC judgement. In that sense, I believe that our Liberation Movement has been handed an extremely valuable political weapon, if by default, by the British establishment. A powerful weapon that will go undeployed by Sturgeon et al, but which will wreak havoc in the collective Scottish psyche, where it will be rightly regarded as a gross insult to our sense of pride and national dignity. In other words: the colonisor has made a strategically dangerous blunder: a blunder beyond rectification. ALBA, take note! (While on the subject of ALBA: it was heartening to hear Neale Hanvey, recently demanding of a clearly flustered Sunak, whether or not Scotland was de facto an English colony? The “C” word clearly has highly-percussive properties, when deployed on the floor of the imperialist parliament.)
