“SCOTLAND’S FUTURE MUST BE IN SCOTLAND’S HANDS” “WESTMINSTER VETO OVER SCOTLAND’S DEMOCRACY CANNOT STAND” SAYS ALBA’S HANVEY

Scotland’s future must be in Scotland’s hands not in the hands of a Tory Government we did not elect or of a UK Court sitting in London.”

This will be said today (Wednesday) at a Rally outside Holyrood by ALBA Party Westminster Leader Neale Hanvey MP.

Continuing Mr Hanvey will state:

“It is the Scottish people, not Westminster, who are sovereign and no ruling by the Supreme Court or veto by the UK Government can alter the inalienable right of the people of Scotland to determine the form of government best suited to their needs.

“Westminster’s veto over Scottish Democracy cannot be allowed to stand.  It is time to assert the sovereign will of the Scottish people to decide their own future. For that to happen the political initiative must now move back to Scotland where it rightly belongs.  That requires political leadership from the Scottish Government and  it means that we must now see a Scottish Constitutional Convention established, based on elected members, MSPs and MPs but also encompassing civic Scotland, to drive forward Scotland’s national Claim of Right.

“Now is the time to pursue with vigour and determination an Independence campaign of parliamentary initiative, popular agitation and international pressure.

“But if there is to be a plebiscite poll, an ad hoc referendum, then it has to be a determination, decided by a majority of seats and fought as ‘Scotland United’, not as yet another fruitless mandate for yet another undelivered referendum.

“Scottish Democracy will not be held in chains indefinitely by Westminster.  Democracy will prevail.  The people’s voice will be heard.  As Canon Kenyon Wright once said – ‘We are the people and we say YES!

“Scotland must now move forward.  It is time to deliver the mandate for a referendum.  It is time to win our independence!”

  • Neale is correct to quote Canon Kenyon Wright.

However, this time around that other voice that we know so well is not the one in 10 Downing Street … it’s the one that resides in Bute House. And it whines that “we have to respect UK law, we cannae dae it withoot their say so”.

Well, we are the people and we say “get of the p!ssin pot””
