Each and every one of the programmes has attempted to give a range of serious people of contrasting opinions a fair chance to state their views. That applied from our first interview with Carles Puigdemont to today’s interview with Sir Vince Cable.
That will be the last one broadcast until a peace is re-established. As our hundreds of guests can testify, I should make it clear that not once in all of that time, has there been a single piece of editorial interference of any kind from RT. They have kept entirely to their commitments on this in line with the Ofcom code.
In contrast, the blatant attacks on freedom of speech from establishment political parties are not just entirely hypocritical, but have whipped up a crescendo of personal abuse and harassment of my co-presenter Ms Ahmed-Sheikh to the extent that she is now quite legitimately concerned about the safety of her family.

Yes, indeed he has, Jill, and that was foreseeable if Ukraine did not officially back off from NATO and EU membership. I think what we are seeing is not a rebuilding of the Soviet Empire, but dire warnings to his neighbours (and NATO) not to try and isolate Russia and its smaller satellites by NATO’s pressing ever eastwards. He does not want a full-scale nuclear war, which this would almost certainly escalate into if NATO attacks Russia or tries to enter Ukraine now, any more than the West does. No population in the West or the East has any appetite for even a conventional war. He will limit Ukraine’s ability to manoeuvre, ensure the integrity of the two republics and stymie Nato expansion, then very likely withdraw back to Russia. I may be wrong, of course, when you and many others can say: told you so. That is, if the nukes don’t strike us first.

Ukraine is a massive country, and it will be very difficult to hold for any length of time. If Putin can consolidate the two republics, instigate regime change or make the conditions ripe for one and deliver a blow to NATO, he will have achieved what he wanted, anyway. Diplomacy and sanctions together are the only answer for the West. Anything else risks all-out nuclear war, and I do wish that the SG and many Scots would understand that we, Scotland and the Scots, are the UK front-line. It is all very well condemning Russian aggression – and any level-headed person should – but it is quite another to even contemplate using aggression back now. It is too late for that, now that Russia has entered Ukraine proper.
