Through A Scottish Prism 27/02/22

My special guest this week is Craig Murray the former British Ambassador. We discuss his recent imprisonment, his appeal against the draconian sentence and his plans to take his appeal to the European Court. We also have his insight into the present conflict in Ukraine. Who better than a trained diplomat to give us expert knowledge on the topic .The media and broadcasters in UK give the government line only,we here give both sides to let you decide what is true.

Later I am joined by Iain Lawson, Phil Boswell and Yvonne Ridley to discuss this and other topics of the week.

  • First class, Roddy. I thought that the SNP leadership could not sink any lower, but, lo and behold, the Ukraine situation afforded them yet another opportunity to show the world what a useless lot they are. Not a spine between them all to share out a vertebra each. Phil is right: they must all go, all of them.

I hope that Craig Murray wins his appeal, but I’m not so sure that the legal system is cracking under an onslaught from the Scottish government. It is undoubtedly mission creep, but I think the judges will not be so easily overcome, however it appears from the outside.

Phil, that the women in the Salmond case have abused the convention of anonymity is no reason to remove it even in their case, or we will hear calls for it to be abandoned. I am in favour of anonymity for both sides until, and if, there is a conviction, but it would be a terrible blow to all females to have it removed because a few have abused the privilege. It is like the separate toilet issue: women need it.

I’m with you, Roddy, on the school sex survey. With the Named Persons, I was not initially in favour unless it was tightened up to reflect data protection, etc., but I did feel that it was a move in the right direction in light of the fact that a number of children had been killed in the previous period. However, it now appears that this is linked – a chain, in which the rights of children are being lauded, supposedly, while, in reality, their rights and those of their parents, are actually being eroded. You are right about the move to lower the age of consent. Look, they’ll say, children are having sex at a younger age so the law needs to reflect that.

When you look at who is behind this stuff – Stonewall and all its tentacles – you don’t have to wonder where this is going and why. In fact, consent is soon to become the biggest issue for the law to tackle because it has fallen behind and is playing catch-up. Jurisprudence – legal philosophy – has not kept up with modern mores, and we are being subjected to the philosophy of the post modernists who are almost all in favour of doing away with the age of consent – indeed, all areas of consent, which would wipe out legal sanctions against voyeurism, public masturbation, et al. Unless self-ID is stopped and the GRA repealed very soon, it will rapidly move on to these areas.

That the SNP should have descended into this morass of stupidity across the board must reflect the unsuitability, lack of experience, lack of understanding and crass unawareness of this whole cohort of politicians. They must be voted out ASAP. We have put a kindergarten class into power and expected statesmen and women to emerge.

    • Thanks, Panda Paws, I second that. I’ve asked on Iain Lawson’s blog which also carries the Scottish Prism, but no result so far.

      • Yes it is, there is a ‘CC’ (closed caption) toggle on the bottom of the YouTube video screen and if you toggle it on then they’ll automatically get subtitles – now, it might struggle with some words it doesn’t recognise Scots or slang which we use often 😃 but it’s generally very good.

  • Another great prism , if only we could have a Scottish government that consisted of NORMAL every day working class people such as these who have lived experience rather than a shower of cosseted prawns whose only life experience is as a student and anyone who refuses to accept or fall down in supplication to their superior wisdom and progressive wokeness will be called out for the heretic they are

As the contributers stated in OUR NEW independent Scotland we will have to investigate the entirety of corruption and lies that Scotland and Scots have and are facing , there has to be a reckoning where the individuals and groups who are condoning and contributing to the destructive damage to our country and people will have to face the consequences of their traitorous ways and decisions

Where is the LOGIC that NORMAL CITIZENS have to beg and appeal to other financially hard pressed fellow citizens to secure ample funds to challenge OUR government in a court of law on proposed legislation whose policy has NOT ONLY been the subject of massive opposition from concerned citizens but has also been found in that court of law to be illegal
Citizens have to fund court cases to PROVE the ineptitude of their government , whilst that inept government uses the same citizens finances to continue with their ineptitude , not one of the proposers of this illegal stupidity has had to pay a penny towards legal costs to defend this stupidity , instead they are using our money both times to fight against and protect this lunacy , WHO are the stupid ones here , be angry and let”s hold them to account , vote THEM OUT IN MAY and vote other indy parties ALBA and ISP in , show them we are not willing to support stupidity and INEPTITUDE

  • Let’s not ignore the fact that 2 sovereign republic states asked Russia to help protect them against Ukraine who are refusing to recognise their legitimacy. You cannot claim to want to protect sovereignty while disregarding the sovereignty of others including that of Russia.

    • What you actually mean is two Putin invented sovereign republic states ? Are you not even aware that before it became patently obvious Putin had already made up his own mind to invade at any time despite more than a week of stating to the World otherwise that International observers had been on the ground in those two desputed areas for many years, they have the evidence that all the violence in those areas was being wholly orchestrated only by Putins own funded rebels which for years have been getting helped from units of Putins own regulary army ? This will all come out in time in the World Court and it won’t be a good look for Putin apologists liek yourself. You can use Google to look up about the International observers that were there yourself https://english.alarabiya.net/News/world/2022/02/27/Ukraine-lodges-case-against-Russia-in-the-Hague

      • Instead we have you an apologist for US/NATO expansionism and the western coup of 2014 in Ukraine instigated by the Obama regime. How would US react if Russua had military alliance with Canada and Mexico and placed nuclear missiles there? You are probably too young to remember Cuban missile crisis. There are no good guys in this horrific war except the innocent civilians caught in a fame if US Russo geopolitical games.

  • really enjoyed this episode Roddy thank you; the topics covered are depressing but you and your guests always speak honestly and with conviction. Scotland needs to be governed by real people, not career politicians with little experience of the world outside politics. We need folk with guts willing to push the boat out and those who contribute to your events have that in spades. Let me know when the revolution is please – I am in.

    • Eva with respect we are looking to you and the rest of the NORMAL people in ALBA and ISP to ORGANISE the revolution

        • So perhaps the solution for the people is to exclude the political class and assume direct responsibility.
Let the grown ups do the job themselves.

        • I actually do agree with you Roddy , I am totally on board with people power and forcing politicians to do as the electorate demand , I loathe the fact that there is no REAL RECALL method to force change and they will NEVER institute anything that means citizens have power , they are comfortable issuing lies and false promises to remain in power as we have experienced for 7 years , I would make a electoral term 3 years and a STRONG recall law for lies and misinformation . Anyhow give me a shout when the revolution is about to start, at 71 i’m rarin to go

  • I think the problem in Scotland is we have no constitutional means of holding the government to account and sadly we find ourselves now under the most corrupt government I’ve ever seen in my lifetime and I’m 62.
The so called opposition in our parliament are foreign infiltraitors (misspelling intended) they’re quite happy to sit back and watch Sturgeon rip this country apart, we the people have no say nobody represents us and certainly not Nicola Sturgeon she’s lied to us and she’s betrayed us and I utterly despise that woman, never have I known a political leader promise so much and deliver so little, I’m beginning to think that Scotland needs the sort of political change that can only come about through a revolution, It might be the only way we’ll get rid of her before she destroys Scotland completely.
    Bring it on
