Through A Scottish Prism
It couldn’t be anything else this week except the return to Scotland of Alex Salmond. Unlike the Scottish and UK Governments the Government of North Macedonia gave our former First Minister the send off he deserved. An ex- President accompanied the coffin to the airport. There it was met by a contingent of North Macedonian soldiers in full military dress to form a guard of honour. A red carpet was there as Alex was taken to the plane. It was accompanied by a bugler to mark the respect his hosts held him in.
The contrast on his return to his homeland could not have been more stark. Not a single member of the Scottish Government to meet one of Scotland’s favourite sons on his final journey home.They didn’t even send a couple of Police Scotland motorbike police to ensure the cortege was able to leave Aberdeen without other vehicles criss crossing over its path.Shame on them.All of those SNP MSPs sitting in Government at Holyrood or sitting on the back benches owe their very seat to Alex Salmond. Without his building blocks the SNP would still be a fringe party.
Fortunately enough of the sma’ fok were not going to allow the Boss to come home alone. The YES Bikers escorted him from the airport home. A car cavalcade stretching for as far as the eye could see followed the hearse. Some say that it stretched for 2 miles in the wake of the lead car.
Throughout the journey people lined the route. Every roundabout, every lay by, ever piece of spare ground was crammed with folk wanting to pay their respects. The nearer the cortege got to Strichen the larger the crowds. People respectfully removing their hats, some choosing to cheer and clap. The emotion filled the air, tears were shed, grown men, women, children. The outpouring of grief and gratitude was there for all to witness.
Those that disparaged him in life or snubbed him in death received a message loud and clear from the ordinary folk of Scotland. They will ignore that message at their peril.
Alex may be gone, but his legacy will remain for all times. When those carpetbaggers and trough dwellers are gone, nobody will even remember their names or the papers they worked for or the parties they stole a wage for.
What will remain forever will be the memory of Alex Saĺmond. His words will echo through the ages. In decades to come in schools throughout Scotland, future generations will know about the man that said, “Scotland is a country, not a county” “The dream will never die.”
They will also know the names of every perjurer and every conspirator and they will be as loathed as much as Menteith. The Alphabetties names will be known for all time as will the despicable leading conspirator’s name.Justice will be served, unfortunately not as soon as it should have been.

The SNP need to be ended for good, they are a stain on the Scotland now, on all of us. I never expected the unionists to offer any real respect but I would have thought at least a pleb from the SNP might show face. That party need gone from our politics even if it means having to suffer a yoon regional council for a few years.

Even in death they couldn’t muster up enough decency to send even a small contingency of SNP mp’s to honour the repatriation of Alex Salmond’s body back to Scottish soil .
The man who brought the SNP right to the forefront of Scottish politics and to where they are today…how can they be so callous ?…unforgivable !
At least the Scottish people never forgot him …he would have been happy about that .

One thing which horrified me, Roddy, was that the Saltire was not at half mast when I went to sign the book of condolence yesterday. I’ve emailed my MSP (Ben Macpherson) but I don’t expect anything to happen.
They stopped the Yes Bikers from going in to sign the Book of Condolence. Despicable.
They’ve also removed tributes from outside Holyrood and taken them who knows where!!!
For a small nation we’ve certainly produced our fare share and more of complete, sniveling arseholes, be they morally compromised, thick as shit politicians or hubristic, small change grubbing hacks. Salmond was forever and always his own man and was way beyond their class. That the Northern Macedonians did the right thing by him, should be, but we know won’t be, a source of deep embarrassment to such people for the rest of their useless days.
The alleged conspirators should face their day in court and be judged. If Scotland is a properly functioning country then criminal charges will be brought soon.
As regards the absence of any Scottish or UK officials at Aberdeen Airport; if I was Alex’s family, I would have told them to stay away and that their presence would not be welcome. Any participation by them would have been the height of hypocrisy.
Aye Colin, a colonized society will never ever be “a properly functioning country”, much as we see in a Scotland that is made into an under-developed, non-competitive, zero-growth economy despite its rich resources, and with too many Scots lacking access to opportunity.
No way will any national independence leader ever be honoured by a colonial power and its local administrators.
The stark difference illustrated here between North Macedonia and Scotland is colonialism.

Sadness does not cover this, but Scotland has amazing people of immense stature, and Alex was a star among us.
Anybody who thought that voting no in 2014 would let us have another easy referendum was deluding themselves…. The real response to our being so close to a yes vote was what was meticulously done to Alex and the SNP leadership. It will be hard, but I think we can do it Roddy. As you say, let’s take it from here.

I understand that whilst the funeral will be private I hope that the family will publish a list of undesirables who are not welcome to attend the memorial service once the latter is organised.
No reasons need to be given. Just a polite request to observe the wishes of the bereaved.
Those not welcome, and to whom I refer, already know who they are. And so do we in the Independence movement.
The public at large might wish to draw their own conclusions as to why these persons have been banned rom attending.
