Another eventful week in politics north and south of the border. It was also a week that saw Scotland’s international standing grow thanks to the Tartan Army in the USA.
The politics resulted from three by-elections, two in Scotland and one in England. In the Aberdeen South seat recently vacated by Stephen Flynn, the Tories won their first by-election in Scotland in over 50 years. Way to go SNP!
This freak result was due to several factors; firstly the very fact that Flynn stood down so soon after being elected to Westminster in July 2024 was the first avoidable event.
Secondly, the Unionists quite blatantly ”gamed the system” by coalescing around the unionist party most likely to succeed. A quick glance at the swings shows the Labour vote collapsed and moved en masse to their fellow Brits in the Tory Party. The so-called Tory enemy is preferable to the SNP according to the House-Jocks.
Thirdly, and most worrying for the SNP, was that huge numbers of their core vote stayed at home; it did not go to the Tories. It should also be a clear sign to the SNP that they need to re-engage with their core vote.
The best way to do that is to call a Constitutional Convention and unite the entire independence movement behind a policy that every election from now on will be an independence plebiscite.
Although in Angus the SNP retained the seat, again a huge number of their core voters remained at home. Both by-elections managed low 30% turnouts.
The burning question now is, will the SNP see the light or continue inside their own wee bubble? The other alternative is they fall into an internal dogfight with a leadership contest between Swinney and Flynn. The proverbial two bald men fighting over a comb!
Down in England, we had the Makerfield by-election that saw the King from over the M6 return to Westminster as a usurper of Starmer. A contest very much encouraged by our corrupt Anglo media. Those that truly rule the union have decided that Starmer, their useful idiot, needs an upgraded useful idiot and have decided that Andy Burnham is the new puppet.
We are about to replace one Labour Friend of Israel with another, Labour Friend of Israel and the UK will continue to support unquestioningly the genocides in Palestine and Lebanon and anywhere else that rogue state attacks.
We will also continue to support the fascist regime in Ukraine with massive amounts of money and weaponry, all the while putting the entire realm at risk of war with the Russian superpower.
We will also see a continuation of the neoliberal economic model that enriches the few at the cost of the many. So three cheers for the people, eh?
We also had the ridiculous spectacle this week of the usual suspects eg.the same ones that lied to us about WMD in Iraq, that deny there is a genocide in Palestine and Lebanon, and that Russia carried out an unprovoked attack on its fascist neighbour.
This time they want us to believe that Ukrainian rent boys were recruited by the Russian FSB to arson Keir Starmer. The idiocy of this is incalculable, from in the first instance that Russia sees the hapless Starmer as some kind of threat to the most powerful nation on the planet, and that to scare him off they would employ male rent boys with a box of matches to carry out the deed. The elite do truly hold the public in utter contempt!
It probably goes a long way to explaining recent findings that trust in the BBC and other news outlets is at an all-time low.
We also had the spectacle this week of a woman from Brighton being prosecuted for writing to her MP, Peter Kyle, expressing her genuine concerns at the genocide in Palestine. His response was to set the police upon his constituent and have her arrested at 4:30 am one morning. Fortunately, the courts threw out this frivolous prosecution.
It should be noted Kyle, like the majority at Westminster, is in Labour Friends of Israel and receives funding from that state.
Surely it is time to outlaw this kind of lobbying?
Meanwhile,over in US the Tartan Army are wooing the Americans and the rest of the world with their joyous behaviour and generosity. Bringing joy and fun wherever they go, and cleaning up after themselves too! Putting brewery workers on overtime. Making $30,000 of donations to good causes in New England, including $10,000 to a Children’s cancer hospital.
This great publicity and positive messaging regarding Scotland is not playing well with our home grown House Jocks or the Anglo supremacists who are now polluting social media sites with lies and tales of terrible wrongdoing by our Tartan Army ambassadors. How how our oppressors hate Scottish good news stories!

Passed you yesterday near Tighnabruaich, but I was already past before I saw it was you.
Up for the rally? Or just cruising? It’s a beautiful part of the world, and well worth a visit.
The problem in Scotland isn’t that the English political parties and their supporters game the system. It is that they have just one core policy. To stop Scotland exercising it’s sovereign authority at all costs. For this reason alone, they put aside any political differences they have and get behind whomever is best placed to deliver that result. Online you get the gaslighters who want to waste your time by using several methods from rage baiting to wanting you to hold their hand and lead them to evidence (not that they actually want that information but rather if you are wasting time responding to their demands you are not spending it on those who genuinely want information so they can share it). Scotland has gone from a 95% majority at the state parliament and a majority admin to returning tories! This due entirely to SNP violating the Scottish constitution and giving England a veto over Scotland and it’s cult followers insisting that these very representives have a cunning plan. It’s like a poor version of Blackadder and the witless Baldrick. It is so farcical that even Swinney. With a straight face, complained that the English political parties had succeeded by uniting when he spent the entire Scottish campaign telling folk to only vote SNP. The next biggest issue is that as a nation we are too busy blaming a snake for acting like a snake instead of wondering why the fudge we are acting like timerous wee mice. The English government, which refers to itself as UK government and managing to successfully hoodwink Scots, is a tiny government overseeing a tiny country and we are treating them as though they are Scotland ‘s all powerful superior. What does that say to the rest of the world? If I were them, it would tell me, I can walk all over Scotland should it reinstate its full statehood because it is too weak to stand against the English establishment despite holding all the cards.
On another note, however, it is great to see the Tartan Army not only enjoying themselves but promoting Scotland positively. This is the kind of response Scotland could receive if it were to fully reinstate it’s statehood. The positivity we see during these games would be replicated across many areas if we just believed in ourselves.
It is vital we independence Scots capitalise on the goodwill generated by the Tartan Army
It’s good to hear someone countering Western propaganda and lies about the Russia/Ukraine conflict. I am frequently taken to task for sympathising with Russia, but then when I ask my critics what they know about the situation in Ukraine prior to the war they usually have no idea. They don’t know there was vicious civil war that went on for the best part of 10 years because Eastern Ukraine no longer wanted to be part of a country where the Russian ethnic population was being so abused and a West-leaning president had been unconstitutionally imposed on them. They don’t know that Donetsk and Luhansk broke away and declared themselves independent republics prior to the Russian war. They don’t know that contrary to previous promises the West, enthusiastically assisted by the puppet Zelensky, determined that Ukraine should join NATO which would have seen Western troops and missiles ranged along the Russian/Ukrainian border (compare that with the American reaction to Soviet missiles in Cuba back in 1962). They are happy to accept a situation where Europe, led by the UK, is prepared to spend and continue spending billions on drip feeding Ukraine with weapons in the hope that over a long term thetwill weaken Russia without any non-Ukrainians having to come home in body bags (and of course it will make a great deal of money for certain individuals and corporations in the West). And of course they accept the persistent nonsense put forward by the UK government and media that unless Russia is stopped then they will proceed against the rest of Europe and the UK. Joseph Goebbels would be proud of the UK propaganda machine and I imagine that many so=valled authoritarian foreign leaders will be marvelling at how Starmer is managing in a matter of a couple of years to destroy rights of free speech and protest that have taken centuries to achieve.
