Webcom Radio is Now Playing: Trashcan Sinatras - I'll Get Them In

Through A Scottish Prism —-Who Benefits?

The week began with the news that the rumours of BBC Scotland closing were confirmed. We will never be privy to the process that chose BBC Scotland for the axe, so we can only speculate. There are 13 ‘regional stations’ in England; none of them are to close and go online. Neither have BBC NI or BBC Wales, only Scotland and BBC3. The Scots over the past 12 years have in increasing numbers cancelled their TV Licences. This in no small part was due to the coverage during the Independence referendum, which to say the least was so biased in favour of the union as to be corrupt. Those individuals posing as journalists in the employ of  BBC London are now paying the ultimate price of their pro-Unionist bias and anti-Scottish sentiment. There will be little or no sympathy for those turncoats in Scotland.

The coverage of Scottish politics by the BBC has always been slanted in favour of the union. When politicians are invited on to debate programmes there are always at least 3 unionists to one SNP politician; also, invariably the non-politician guest is of a Unionist persuasion. Audiences invited to such programmes are also always slanted in favour of the union. If it reflected the real situation in Scotland, the weighting would ensure at least a 50-50 split. That, of course, would never be allowed; the BBC is, after all, a propaganda tool of the state. Cast your mind back and try and think of any occasion when the BBC in Scotland has promoted a news item critical of the union or ever promoting independence! SNP Bad, Scotland Bad is, the BBC mantra. We see the exact same bias in the reporting of the conflicts in West Asia and Ukraine. We very much get the London narrative, which rarely, if ever, reflects the views of Scots.

That bias will now be greater than ever as the BBC we will now receive on the BBC1 button will be one of the English regional stations. Scottish politics will now be non-existent on the PBS channel, except when it is a Scotland Bad item!

If that piece of broadcasting gerrymandering was not enough to convince Scots of their status in this accursed union, the unionists doubled down on their imperialism with two big announcements. The first pronouncement was the UK Government’s announcement from London that they were granting permission for the Jackdaw gas field to begin drilling. In case you are not aware, the location of this particular gas field is off the Scottish coast and the nearest city is Aberdeen, not London, not even Newcastle. That said, London decides, Scotland the colony accepts and cannot question or object.

Similarly, the London government, almost 50 years after the discovery of Scottish oil and gas, has decided to begin an oil and gas sovereign wealth fund. The SNP has been demanding this from the very first day that oil was discovered in Scottish waters. This, of course, like every suggestion or request from Scotland, was dismissed and rejected out of hand.

To rub salt into the wounds of Scots, UK Chancellor John Healey admitted that a North Sea  gas sovereign wealth fund set up in the 1980s would be worth approximately £1 trillion today. This is something they have denied for nearly 50 years. They were aided in this lie by  BBC Scotland, STV, and every unionist MP, MSP, councillor, pundit, newspaper, and half-witted Unionist voter.

Then this week, the UK government announced the establishment of a new Energy Wealth Fund, focused on investing in renewable and low-carbon energy projects, and funded from tax revenues from North Sea oil and gas.

The new fund is being launched with an initial £2 billion, with future revenues from the North Sea oil and gas to be added to the fund over time.

This fund, will as you will realise, will take all the wealth from Scottish natural resources and administer this fund from London, for London, and little or no benefit will reach the Scots. Indeed, the UK Government has rejected calls from the SNP to ring-fence the new Energy Wealth Fund exclusively for Scotland, stating that the fund—backed by a £2 billion downpayment from North Sea oil and gas revenues—will benefit the entire UK ( for UK read England, for Britain read England, for GB, read England, for the nation, read England.)

If there is a single person left in Scotland that still believes we are in a voluntary union of equals, I have a bridge with your name on it!

These two topics form the main part of this week’s podcast. My panel this week is: Terry Howson, Ken McNeil, Eva Comrie, and Phil Boswell. Join us from noon Sunday.
