The March grand tour of Scotland arrived at its final destination this weekend. We were hosted by Aye Aberdeen in the Rusty Nail in the heart of the granite city. An excellent crowd of good folk attended and asked many and varied questions.
My panel this week consisted of Eva Comrie, Independent, Lloyd Quinan, SNP, Gavin Bain Convenor of Alba Party Aberdeen City and Alba prospective parliamentary candidate Charlie Abel. TASP is putting into practise what it preaches, unity!
Our first question of the day was one on the Hate Crime Bill. We were asked if we believed that the bill would go the way of the ill fated OBFA. The question of malicious accusations was covered in depth. On these questions our panel was in total agreement.
The audience wanted to know the panels views on Freeports. It was felt that this controversial subject was not receiving the scrutiny it merits by our politicians or media.
Questions on tackling poverty and inequality were asked as well as could Indy1st be an opportunity to unite the YES Movement once more. Will Humza last as leader of the SNP until 2026? The final question of this show was one asking how we can enthuse the younger generation to become active in politics.
The questions were answered in such depth that the dreaded clock won out. Therefore, part two of the Aberdeen show will be broadcast on Wednesday at noon.
It has been a long month with live audience shows in Dundee, Dunfermline, Perth and Aberdeen. The team have thoroughly enjoyed meeting fellow independinistas from all over our country. The questions have been different as have the answers. There have been people from all the independence political parties attending and none asking questions on matters that concern them.
The one thing that has been a constant is this. The ordinary Scottish people are not interested in division. Non party affiliated Scots and those that are party members want unity of the movement and not squabbling in public or on social media. Those in the parties that can control this need to take heed, petty jealousies and squabbles turn off the voters and their own members!
TASP will be back later in the year touring again as we get closer to the General Election. We will be going to constituencies that have independence candidates that espouse our values independence,nothing less. Till then we look forward to bringing you our regular shows.

Great session and I am absolutely in admiration of the passion and eloquence of both Lloyd and Eva and of their commitment to the Independence cause. if only those we eleted in good faith to Holyrood and to Westminster had that same commitment we would not be in the dreadful situation we are in now with, as both these panelists expliained, being about to lose huge areas of our country to the totally corrupt policy of our current government to let that be exploited as ‘Free Ports’, not for the benefit of our country and people, but for already rich international corporations, who as Lloyd explained, will take full advantage of the lack of regulations to impoverish the workers in the area, ignore the Scottish government’s ban on fracking (which will pollute the land and possibly the entire Firth of Forth) to make a profit which Scotland will not enjoy and this will go on for at least 25 years, when we will be able to buy back the land given away for nothing at a price set by those who gained it unfairly.
This shopuld not be happening!
However, I have a strategy, not fully worked out as I do not have the knowledge myself and must appeal to the research done, mainly by the pro-Independence organisation, Salvo.scot and I would commend the the team at TASP and the panellists on this programme to consider it.
Based on the long-established Constutional basis of Sovereignty in Scotland belonging to the people, meaning we have the inalienable right to chose the form and method of government best suited to our needs (and by corollarly) the right to change that government when it ceases to suit our needs. We also have the very different concept of the Scottish Crown, quite distinct from the Crown of England, as the former holds the land and the resources of Scotland in trust for the people of Scotland.
I have been unable to find the document, though it was published by eother Salvo itself or by Iain Lawson on his blog, Yours for Scotland, but one or other of these sources, based on a great deal of research, demonstrated that the British Government in London, contrary to populer belief, has absolutely no right whatsoever to exploit these resources belonging to the people of Scotland without our permission for their own benefit rather than ours.
As I see it, in this dire situation we are in, with a significant area of our land about to be taken and used for the profit of others, we must urgently speak out and refuse to give our consent, expalining why and also making this plain to everyone in the UK and abroad that we are invoking our ancient right and have had enough of being exploited. I would hope that with full explanations, as described by the panellists, of the dreadful conseqences and damage to our Nation that would ensue from this policy, that the People of Scotland would support this move, and also that the International community would understand that this is a just cause, particularly those in Europe who would realise how very different a kind of port jurisdiction this would be from what is common in Europe, and that it would be illegal there.
I realise that this is a drastic step, challenging the British Parliament and government who assume they are thebasis of sovereignty across the entire united kingdome but consider it is one we must take as we are in such a perilous situation, It is also risky, involving as it does, standing up to Westminster and invoking ancient rights which they have chosen to ignore and keep hidden over more than 300 years, a nd they will certainly argue against us but we have right on our side and these rights are still valid as allegiance to the Claim of Right was sworn by Charles III shortly after his accession shows.
I very much hope that the panellists and other supporters of TASP will be willing to consider this strategy, though they may well wish to look into the legal background as described by Sara Salyers and other researchers from Salvo, including Alf Baird with his expertise on shipping, trade and ports.
We do not have much time in which to decide to make a stand but I believe it is essential that we do and very soon, but I do not have the power or influence to do anything. I also realise that this move to challenge the British (and Scottish) Establishments Establishments might lead us to having to declare our Independence an leave the Union with England, but see that as a bonus!
We have the right to stand uo for ourselves against this damaging policy and I think this issue about the imposition of Free Ports on us is an important and good cause for mounting wuch a challenge and that we will ultimately prevail, if we can get the support of a significant number of Scottish people. With the help of Salvo and their work on signing people up to Liberation.scot, we could be well on our way, though there will certainly be strong opposition in both London and Edinburgh so we must be prepared to fight.
At 87 there is not much I can do, apart from this suggestion, but if I can help with money for materials to publicise our current dangerous position and a possible way out of it, I am very happy to contribute what I can.
