Indy1ST is Launched www.Indy1st.scot
A new, innovative, grassroots organisation that aims to inspire action for Scottish independence was launched last week. Indy1st is registered with the Electoral Commission, and is regulated as a non-party campaign organisation.
Indy1st’s mission is to work to restore Scotland’s independence by providing support, resources and guidance to those who, like them, believe that Scotland should take her rightful place among the independent nations of the world.
Indy1st will provide practical IT-enabled support to candidates, community initiatives and activists who do not currently have access to this type of support. Indy1st is an active organisation and through that activity it will connect properly with the voters, with voter registration technologies through its planned “Aye App”, and engage with people directly on the doorsteps and in the streets.
The Aye App is a new online tool for smartphones to make voter registration easier, and to provide candidates with a comprehensive campaign design and delivery service similar to the support they might receive as a party candidate.
Voter registration is the first main function of the AyeApp. It interacts directly with the government voter registration site and is dealt with in the normal way by the government site. Further phases include a range of election campaigning management and delivery capabilities only previously available to large political parties. This will enhance democracy by giving independent candidates a better chance of success through effective campaign management and support.
Leanne Tervit of the “Schemes for Indy” voter registration campaign agrees, explaining that we desperately need action, for schemes to rise and get angry at their situations. Leanne is aiming to build an army of activists in housing schemes throughout Scotland, bringing back the hope of 2014 and showing politicians that the people mean business.
Allan Petrie of the “Not my Parliament” campaign explained that voters are telling him on the doorsteps that they are disillusioned with party political games and would be open to considering voting for a local, independent candidate. In the absence of independence-committed candidates however the “Not My Parliament” message is to clearly indicate on the ballot paper that you support none of the candidates.
Eva Comrie, Independent candidate for Alloa and Grangemouth is working with Indy1st on her campaign. Eva said ” independence will release the potential and power of Scotland’s greatest resource – her people; with the AyeApp Indy1st provides a significant tool enabling the mobilisation of the entire movement.
Sally Hughes…..Independent candidate for Perth and Kinross shire said “Indy1st is a one stop shop for help and assistance with my campaign”
The group is keen to stress they will work with any candidate or organisation that is serious about regaining our independence as a matter of urgency.
Supporters can join up now via the website Indy1st.Scot, and can also make donations to support Indy1st’s development . The Aye App expected to go live by the end of April.
It has taken the established party of independence (SNP) decades to put the constitution issue front and centre of Scottish politics.
The emergence of well-meaning newbies will do no more than dilute the vote for the only credible option (SNP) so allowing the unionists to hold (or heaven forfend) add to, their seats.
By all means campaign for independence but do so within an established party.
The ‘newbies between them have over 200 years if campaigning for independence. As to leaving it all to the only “credible” option. We have done that since November 2014 and what have they done with six mandates? The square root of zero! More interested in putting cocks into frocks and jailing Scots for telling the truth TWAMEN.

For those who still believe in the SNP to deliver independence, postcolonial theory (Frantz Fanon) helps explain why this may be a forlorn hope. Much as we now see with the SNP today, a dominant National Party will tend to make its own ‘accommodation with colonialism’ which stops far short of liberation. Matters become clearer once the dominant National Party elite steps aboard the colonial gravy train and it soon becomes evident that: ‘Their objective is not the radical overthrowing of the (colonial) system.’ Here we recognise their close resemblance to former colonial parties as: ‘The notion of the party is a notion imported from the mother country’. Middle class elites running the National Party are not intellectuals and do not fully appreciate their purpose so they will look to promote other ‘priorities’ in which: ‘The elite will attach a fundamental importance to organization which takes precedence over a reasoned study of colonial society.’ Which implies that, inside the dominant National Party: ‘the will to break colonialism is linked with another quite different will: that of coming to a friendly agreement with it.’ Which in turn dovetails nicely with the role of the colonizer, in which: ‘The settler’s work is to make even dreams of liberty impossible for the native.’ The dominant National Party will even support colonial forces to hold back momentum towards liberation and in this regard: ‘The party elite will disown the revolutionary elements’ (and) ‘The party helps the government to hold the people down…becomes more and more clearly anti-democratic, an implement of coercion’. Discovering this reality dismays the ordinary independence supporter who: ‘..realizes that while he is breaking down colonial oppression he is building up automatically yet another system of exploitation’ (which) ‘discovery is unpleasant, bitter and sickening.’ The party elite becomes ‘petrified’ and is unable and unwilling to move forward on the matter of national liberation: ‘The party machine shows itself opposed to any innovation’ to break the nation free. Hence little changes with a single dominant National Party, which soon leads to the creation of new national parties more focused on the true purpose and goal of liberation, reflecting that: ‘Colonization is a motionless, petrified world.’And with political persecutions and goings-on we return to the reality of the situation in that: ‘The colonial regime owes its legitimacy to force (and) the native hardly ever seeks for justice in the colonial framework. The people begin to better comprehend that: ‘On the plane of human rights, what is fascism if not colonialism when rooted in a traditionally colonialist country?’ And here we return to the reality of the situation, in which: ‘Colonial status is simply the organized reduction to slavery of a whole people.’
