The recent escalation between Iran and Israel has reignited tensions not only in the Middle East but also on the global stage, as the United States and the European Union contemplate further sanctions against Iran. While western powers justify their actions as necessary responses to security threats, the rest of the world perceives their stance with scepticism and dismay.

The response from US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell underscores the seriousness with which western nations are considering punitive measures against Iran. However, the rationale behind these actions is viewed differently outside the western sphere of influence. Many nations, particularly those in the global south, see the situation through a lens of colonial history, power dynamics, and international law.

The attack on Israel by Iran has prompted calls from Israel for its allies to sanction and punish Iran. Indeed, many experts believe Israel is doing everything possible to pull in the US into a direct shooting war with Tehran. Should that occur no doubt Washington’s poodles UK, France, NATO would also enter any war.

Yet, beyond the immediate conflict, there’s a broader narrative unfolding, one of western complicity in the perpetuation of violence and injustice. Not just in Palestine but throughout the globe. The condemnation of Iran’s actions by western powers seems hypocritical to many, given their historical support for Israel and their reluctance to address the root causes of conflict in the region. After all it is Israel, that is ignoring countless UN resolutions and edicts not Iran or Palestine.

The accusation of genocide in Gaza, supported by the International Court of Justice ruling, adds another layer of complexity to the situation. While western nations champion their version of democracy and international norms, their actions in the Middle East often contradict these alleged values, fueling resentment and mistrust among nations in the global south.

The narrative of western dominance and impunity is being challenged by the super powers China and Russia, who are increasingly seen as alternative allies for nations disillusioned with the western nations and its hypocrisy and double dealing. The formation of organisations like BRICS and the trend towards de-dollarisation in global trade signal a shift in power dynamics that could have far-reaching consequences for western economies.

Too many in the west are oblivious to this phenomenon. No surprise as the western media is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the global elite. The biggest crime of the media is not that they lie, which they do it is what they do not report to us that is their biggest flaw. Most people in the west know very little about BRICS or the likely effects of de-dollarisation on their daily lifes. The ruling elite and media have decided the public do not need to know about this global shift.

Those of us who have opposed the actions of the western powers in the middle-east and the proxy war in Ukraine are often marginalised and attacked as antisemitic and pro Putinist, etc. Shoot the messenger and trash the message is the modus operandi of our western globalist governments and their lackeys.

The decline of western manufacturing and the prospect of being cut off from global trade by the global south present serious challenges for the so-called developed nations. The days of colonial exploitation and unilateral intervention are waning, as nations in the global south assert their sovereignty and demand accountability from the west. Add to that the alliances being built with the two nuclear super powers of China and Russia and you can see how things are developing.

Ultimately, the future of global politics may be shaped by a multipolar order in which western hegemony is challenged by these new alliances and power structures. The clock is ticking for the west to reckon with its past and adapt to a changing world where cooperation, not coercion, is the key to stability and prosperity.

For all our sakes and to prevent a nuclear conflict let us hope our ruling elites finally see the way the wind is blowing and stop the aggressive war and words. In the words of John Lennon, let’s give peace a chance!
