  • Great interview.

Another example of BBC double standards:

    This from 2019 Westminster GE:

“ Figures from seven major political parties are being quizzed in a live BBC election debate.
Senior members of the Tories, Labour, Lib Dems, SNP, Greens, Plaid Cymru and the Brexit Party are taking part in the debate chaired by Nick Robinson.”

  • Alex is far too kind to his successor. Much kinder than she has been – and he is so right about the timescale. Unfortunately, I think the oportunity has been missed for Indy in my ifetime – and Alex has a couple of years on me.
My Alba posters are proudly displayed in both my car and my house windows. I cannot, however, vote SNP in the constituency. I cannot endorse the policies of the current SNP leadership. I cannot vote away my sex based rights and help to put the High Priestess of Woke along with her handmaidens of the transpocalypse into power.
Alex, you are our only hope. Fingers and peach ballot paper crossed.

  • Stupendous,
    that man embues such enthusiasm,
no wonder Nicola is so scared of him!
    good luck Alex for thursday.

  • Excellent upbeat interview. This is the second interview where Alex has mentioned the possibility of MSP’s “crossing the floor” and I wonder if he is expecting some fundamentalists to move to ALBA. Especially if the First Minister demands that they vote down ALBA’s proposal to start independence negotiations with Westminster immediately. That could create the perfect storm and the last straw for many. Can you imagine an SNP exodus to ALBA, possibly making ALBA the second biggest party in Scotland and the impact that that dynamic will have on the Scottish parliament and the drive for independence. A man can dream.

    • That is going to be the game-changer. Defections….defections and more defections.
      And Sturgeon is a goner

    • Indeed. Kirk Torrence also mentioned ‘crossing the floor’ as being a real possibility… We live in interesting times! Roll on the weekend!

  • No holding-back re: the BBC and its apparatchiks. Could you ever imagine hearing Sturgeon or her sell-out cultists making the distinction between the role of “state broadcaster and that of “public broadcaster”? No, and neither can anybody else imagine it. The man’s never lost his critical firepower! A five-star interview, Roddy. Thank you.

  • Thank you, Barrhead Boy, for giving us this chat with Alex Salmond.

So open, so funny, so self-deprecating. So sharp, so stinging about politics.

Alex Salmond convinced me on Scottish independence back in 1992. Nicola Sturgeon inherited the 45%, and a huge increase in party membership in 2014.

She never did anything with it, or all the mandates for independence. Material change (Brexit). No action. She bottled it.

She’d rather have adulation from “yes-men” and “yes-transwomen”, forget all the “bigoted” women, who’re fighting for their legal sex-based rights or Scottish independence. Please, won’t they just go away!

Nicola never did anything of note, trying to emulate her mentor, but always lost seats at elections (but that was always somedody else’s fault) and when failed, the overseas mentor (in her mind), Hillary Clinton showed the way. She let toxic US identity politics leeach into Scotland, meetoo witch hunt to prop up her political career, her friends’ civil service career.

Trying to jail an innocent man for political and personal reasons, wrecking a country’s democratic and judicial institutions of state along the way. For her failures, for her vindictive obsession, she wrecked the country.

Gods, this person is… toxic doesn’t even cover it. She probably doesn’t even understand how she is worse than Pinochet or Ceacescu or Marcos (She’ll understand Imelda, with the shoes – she won’t understand why plenty of Scottish women are giving up their shoes on “women walking with their feet”-protests, though.)

It really is a breath of fresh air to hear Alex Salmond talk, relaxed, in fine fettle, fighting for Scottish independence.

Too many people are now self-cencoring because the woke stasi will pile-on, cancel, try to get you fired from your job and trying to ensure you won’t get another, now able to report you for “hate crime” to the police for disagreeing with some snowflakes feeeelz.

    Hello, nazis!

Maybe I’m the type of person who’ll be thrown in prison for seven years for the “hate crime” of daring to state biological facts, like sex, not gender, matters. Transwomen are transwomen, i.e. biologically male.

Then I’d be thrown into a women’s prison where self-id’d “women” (=men) could rape me, and have the crime recorded as perpetrated by a woman.

This is the ideology the SNP endorses.

  • Hey, I put plenty of paragraph breaks in my rant, they don’t seem to heve come through.

    Too bad.

  • Fantastic interview Roddy, it was like listening to 2 guys having a chat over a beer, That’s what I love about Alex, he talks our language, he’s one of us unlike his high and mighty successor who has nothing but contempt for us.

But I see something deeper here, I think this could be the beginning of a new way of politicians connecting with the people and Alex is paving the way by giving honest straight talking interviews with people like yourself, Jeggit. Grousebeater, Denise, etc etc etc bringing our political leaders closer to the people with language we can all understand.

Keep doing what you’re doing Roddy

We don’t need Andrew Marr or Andrew Neil and we can certainly dispense with Kirsty Wark or Sarah Smith we can do it differently in Scotland

  • Its a breath of fresh air to have Alex back. I now believe we will move forward with Scottish Independence. No more carrot dangling from Nicola Sturgeon. Don’t get me wrong Nicola Sturgeon has done many good things but when it comes to Independence she has well and truly kicked the ball into the long grass..
