BUDGET FAILS KEY TESTS ON CHILD POVERTY AND COVID RECOVERY FOR SMALL BUSINESS.
ZERO SPEND ON WHITE PAPER SHOWS SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT NOT SERIOUS ABOUT HOLDING INDY REFERENDUM
ALBA Westminste Group Leader Neale Hanvey MP has responded to the Scottish Budget 2022-23 announced today (Thursday). In a statement Mr Hanvey said:
“ This Budget goes nowhere near far enough in tackling child poverty which means the Government will continue to struggle to meet its own child poverty reduction targets. A Scottish Child Payment of £40 would have lifted 60,000 children out of poverty but the challenge of transforming the lives of Scotland’s children has been ducked.
“ The failure to provide access to appropriate covid recovery funding for small businesses like travel agents and taxi drivers means many more small businesses will continue to struggle to recover from the impact of the pandemic.
“ The failure to fund in full the dualling of the A9 and A96 demonstrates beyond doubt that the people, businesses and communities of the North East of Scotland are paying the price for the deal with the Greens.
“ Whereas the Scottish Government committed £450,000, prior to 2014, to make the Scottish people aware of its Independence proposals, zero funding for an Independence White Paper shows that the Scottish Government is not serious about having an Independence Referendum by the end of 2023. The Scottish Government are taking the Scottish people and Independence movement for fools”.

Don’t suppose there is any mitigation for thw worst affected WASPI women either – not from this misogynistic, ageist govt.
Actually in the 2014 White Paper the Scot Gov advocated retiral at 66 and wanted a “discussion” on raising it to 67. Not a lot o people know that as Michael Caine would say.

They will not spend to nurture and feed our future citizens of Scotland , BUT Sturgeon and the SKINT SNP GCC have NO PROBLEM subsidising the enemy of independence the UNIONIST PRAVDA BBC by giving them £12 million pounds to produce more of their lies AGAINST SCOTLAND from the once loved KELVIN HALL
Neale, come back to Scotland and get out on the road with Kenny, Alec and Alba’s Councillors. People all over the country must be told the facts as they really are regarding the S.N.P. and why, for those who want independence, it’s essential they vote for Alba in large numbers. You saw, surprisingly enough, how successful public meetings were in 2014, why can be just as successful again? Sure, it’s a big hill to climb, but for as long as whoever it is remains “sitting” on the Scottish media, there’s probably no better way of getting the party’s message out to the most important people of all, the electorate, and in person. Best regards.
Zero funding for independence, just sums it up for me. A nest of rats , Britnat secret Unionists trying to save a rotten union, covertly. A union that no one wants. The mask has slipped they tell us now is not the time. Queen covid sounds more like Teresa May, than a champion of independence. Children and the poor go hungry , industry destroyed, free oil, gas and electricity plundered. How worse can this get before people wake up to this mafia cabal that is taking us for fools. The MPs and MSPs must give notice to the leadership and reclaim the party from the woo woos that run it.
Josef, thats exactly whats needed
We need to get out and spread the message
Finance secretary Katie Forbes received a round of applause today in the Holyrood chamber, when she claimed her budget will help lift kids out of poverty, we’ve heard all this before, the reality is that the huge increase in power will only drag more families with kids deeper into poverty, not to mention the price rises of everyday goods and food items, due to Brexit, and Covid. The ten pounds extra child payment is better than nothing, however if I recall right it doesn’t start until April next year, and its for children under six years of age.
I doubt that any of our Scottish politicians will need to decide whether to heat or to eat with their children in mind, unlike many, many Scots will have to do this Winter and even more so after next April’s huge rise in power prices. being part of the rancid union is taking its toll, I blame Sturgeon for that, she chose to keep us tied to this union and we are paying a heavy price for it and will continue to do so.
“The Scottish Government are taking the Scottish people and Independence movement for fools”.
Did this come as a shock to many folk ?
The TransCult are sucking up the time and money. They are inventing groups like Engender. They have taken over others like Rape Crisis Scotland. Time and funding is being channeled into bodies that promote Queer Theory and the Cult Leader Sturgeon.
All other issues are secondary to Sturgeons Cult.
People need to wake up to the transfer of Money, Resources and Parliament time to an issue related to 0.5% of the population.
Child Poverty, Drugs, Waspi Pension impact, Women’s Safety etc are all being sidelined by a tiny group of young selfish trans activists who now dominate the SNP inner circle.
Hade to be pedantic however, 0.04%
Hard to define the number of genders these days 😂
The SNP Snakes in the Grass didn’t highlight this in their Budget , ordinary Scots being suckered by the Political Elites yet again.
Who knows how much the Council Tax will be put up and the SNP willl just blame the Councils instead of admitting the councils have no choice to do this thanks the the SNP underfunding the Councils Budgets yet again.
This is a con trick they get away with time after time.
So where are the Extra Billions increases they got from WM going ? Whose Bank account this time ?

The Sun, really!
The SNP had become a respectable, meritorious political party and I was delighted to be a member… However, that delight eventually became despair and like many others, I stopped my membership.
Notably, when one politician is clearly NOT supportive of a former First Minister, then perhaps Scotland’s electorate will judge this situation for themselves? My own reactions cannot fit into this small space, however, apart from me leaving that party, I’m now surer than ever before that NO political party or politician is more important than Scotland’s own electorate!
Presently, people post comments which imply that a growing number of our pro-independence people recognise that Sturgeon’s aims are not focused on Scotland regaining its independence – and that certain policies don’t represent the majority of the electorate. In fact, these same policies threaten to go against much that’s been successfully and rightly achieved in favour of so many of our truly deserving people!
Thanks for your time,
Ewen
They have gone all small time cooncil on us, bunch of trough swilling devos now partnered with the even worse greens. What a bleak outlook for Scotland. We must banish them at the next opportunity. They are protected and have sold their souls, for sure..
Hi imacg, very true what you say:
And that very next opportunity will come at our council elections early next year. Maybe this is the time for the long term voters – of what the Scottish National Party once was – to recognise and try something different:
This past 7 years of Scottish Government, and we still have:
1) The same pot-holes in the same positions
2) The same flood zones when the waters give rise
3) The same cutbacks & closures of our essential cultural buildings
4) The same roadworks that were finished 10 days ago, up for repair again (see 1)
5) The same never-ending ‘promises’ about…
6) The same, the same, the same…
SO, the challenge is… we know the above points aren’t going to see any change or improvement if we vote in the current scotgov again, that much is obvious after almost 8 years now, therefore, Scotland needs to vote in and get a taste of what our other new and exciting pro-indy parties have to offer for all of us. Let’s put and keep the spotlight on Alba.
Challenge Alba! Let’s get Alba a good foothold in the cooncils. Alba will deliver where the nuSNP have not.
We need a whole new budget and a whole new way.
Independence is of the essence.
