For over a year now, there has been a stark contrast between the support for Scottish independence, standing at over 50% and the backing for the SNP, hovering between 31-35%. This dissonance should ring alarm bells, especially considering the SNP’s once pivotal role in championing independence. Recently, the British Labour Party, historically relegated in Scottish politics, has been gaining ground, hinting at potential losses for the SNP in the upcoming UK General Election. There is also now a distinct possibility that the SNP could lose control of Holyrood in 2026!

The SNP, with its plethora of advisors and SPADs, seems to be dithering at a crossroads. Either they fail to grasp the severity of their situation, or they are turning a blind eye to reality in the hope that things will miraculously change without them needing to change a single thing they say or do.

As someone who advocates for Scottish independence, it’s disconcerting to witness this inability by the SNP leadership and its advisors to see their own self created difficulties or try to repair the damage of their recent past.

Here’s some heartfelt, unsolicited advice to the SNP, aimed at steering their party back to a commanding position and guiding Scotland towards its destined path of independence.

1. Termination of the Bute House Agreement:The SNP’s dalliance with the Scottish Green Party has been nothing short of calamitous.Initiatives like the Deposit Return Scheme, Free bicycles and cycle lanes, Highly Protected Marine Areas, Heat Pumps for every home, failure to dual the A9 have proven to be costly missteps. The Greens obsession with Gender Politics it seems drives everything they do. From the outside it very much seems as though the Green tail wags the SNP dog. It’s imperative to sever ties with the Greens before it does irreparable damage to the cause.It really is time to refocus on strategies that yield tangible successes and ultimately lead to our independence. The Greens have already indicated they are willing to treat with the British Labour Party if it keeps them in power. How can you possibly trust a coalition partner that is already making overtures to an English registered imperial party?
2. Repeal Controversial Legislation: The Gender Reform Act (GRA) and Hate Crime Bill (HCB) have incurred significant public backlash, overshadowing any positive outcomes the SNP thought might ensue. These two particular pieces of legislation not only divided the SNP membership it has divided the entire movement and nation. Scrapping these divisive laws, which have sparked widespread discontent, is paramount to rebuilding trust and unity between the movement and electorate.
3. Call a Scottish Constitutional Convention: Immediately withdraw the SNP MPs from Westminster and convene a convention in Edinburgh comprising all independence-supporting parties, civic organisations, trade unions and Yes Groups. A united front is indispensable and undefeatable in realising Scotland’s sovereignty.
4. Eliminate External Influence: Remove organisations like Stonewall from governmental institutions, schools, NHS, and the Justice system. Scottish political and civil life should be free from external agendas and lobbyists that do not align with our nation’s interests.
5. Amend the Scotland Act: Empower the Scottish Parliament with the ability to enact its own timescales on any Scottish election with a simple majority. The powers already exist at Holyrood to make this a reality. Utilise parliamentary procedures to assert Scotland’s autonomy, including crashing Holyrood to bring about an independence plebiscite election.
6. Embrace Accountability and Reconciliation: Acknowledge past mistakes and apologise to the Scottish public for deviating from the core principle of Scottish independence. Extend a sincere apology to the women of Scotland who have endured marginalisation, discrimination, bullying and abuse by the TRA zealots. Reaffirm the party’s commitment to genuine equality and inclusivity, not the divisive and now very much discredited Queer Theory of Stonewall.

Implementing these recommendations demands courage and foresight.However, the dividends of humility and rectification will be immense. By demonstrating a willingness to learn from missteps and chart a new course, the SNP can regain the trust of voters and reclaim its position as the vanguard of Scottish independence.

Continuing on the current trajectory without introspection or adaptation risks further erosion of support and political influence. The choice lies with the SNP – to stagnate or to embark on a transformative journey for the betterment of Scotland’s future. May they choose wisely, for the sake of Scotland’s sovereignty and prosperity.
