Throughout 2022 and up until July this year social media was awash with people urging us to get rid of the Tories. Whenever I saw such a tweet or FB post I would ask the authors ” and replace them with who?” Many got very upset with me when I suggested voting out the true Blue Tories and merely replacing them with the Red Tories would be no change whatsoever and indeed would likely be worse.
As you can imagine I came in for quite a lot of stick. One of the most vociferous on Twitter was Carol Voderman. An undoubtedly nice and well intentioned lady. I replied to many of her exposes of Tory corruption and dishonesty suggesting she be careful what she wished for. I see that now the Blues are out and the Reds are in the lovely Carol has vanished from public view. Her tweets are protected and only to be seen by those she decides. I would imagine she knows we have gone from the frying pan into the fire and just cannot take the flak from people like me saying ‘told you so!’
She is now realising, I think, what millions of us old enough remember, Labour definitely never does what is says on the tin. This lot though are in a league of their own when it comes to troughing, lying, denying, and the best examples of politicians suffering from Dunning-Kruger Syndrome I have witnessed in my 72 years on this planet. Poor Carol had hitched her wagon to the Keir Starmer Gravy Train before she realised these are just as bad as the ones she did all in her power to remove!
I don’t blame Carol millions over the centuries have been duped by the Anglo ruling elite. Not just on these shores but globally wherever their navy took them. They toured the world colonising, dividing, stealing, raping, pillaging anything of value that wasn’t locked down. All the time telling the natives they were so lucky to have the English building them railways (to steal their natural resources)bringing them cricket and Christianity because both them and their pagan religious were inferior to the English version.
The best example of this is India. Pre the British the Indian economy accounted for 25% of the global economy. By the time the British got kicked out in 1947 the Indian GDP was at 4%.
Now just 77 years later the Indian economy without Westminster and London spivs has a greater GDP and larger economy than that of its former colonial masters.
India overtook the UK in the final three months of 2021 to become the fifth-largest economy, pushing the UK to the sixth spot for the second time after it had done the same in 2019.
The Anglos told every colony they controlled the same lie. The American colony, all of Africa, Asia wherever they colonised. You are too wee, too stupid and too poor to be independent, does it sound familiar?
You need Mother England controlling every aspect of your lives so that you can just survive, says the propaganda! All lies of course, but it did delay many of the colonised nations from kicking the Brits out sooner. Sixty odd at last count and funnily enough, not one of those nations has invited the Brits back to rule them!
It is a typical story in Ireland. While under the Anglo jack boot Ireland was one of the poorest nations on the earth. Now in the Emerald Isle we have a booming economy producing surpluses.
Official figures published last week suggest Ireland will run a €25bn budget surplus this year. Meanwhile, the UK our deficit in 2024 is currently growing by the day. In the FYE March 2024, the public-sector current budget deficit was £52.1 billion.
In August 2024, the government debt of the United Kingdom stood at approximately £2.77 trillion British pounds, compared with £2.59 trillion pounds a year earlier. Does it sound like a state that has any clue how to run an economy? What broad shoulders?
Yet in the British political discourse you will constantly hear the English Nationalists telling the Scots and Welsh that we couldn’t possibly run our economies better than the spivs of The City of London.
The entire western world is teetering on the brink of a financial Armageddon. The US and EU run by neoliberal globalist chancers took a massive punt on the Ukraine conflict and are about to reap a whirlwind. By weaponising the $ and the €, they have underestimated the pushback from the rest of the world. The Anglosphere and Western European nations have grossly underestimated both the Russians and the Chinese as well as the rest of the global south.
A couple of days ago, Bloomberg published an article highlighting the growing global interest in joining BRICS and how the U.S. perceives the risk of losing influence. While the article covers familiar ground, it underscores a significant shift: the rise of BRICS as a compelling alternative to U.S.-centric global dynamics.
Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea are strengthening their alliances, even in the face of unprecedented Western sanctions. Bloomberg cites anonymous officials making dire predictions, but the reality is that BRICS is offering countries a fresh, multipolar option in a world historically dominated by Western powers and currencies.
The U.S. is facing increasing resistance across the globe, from Venezuela to Africa, where its military bases are being pushed out, and in the South China Sea, where Beijing’s presence is growing. Even traditional U.S. allies, like Israel, are showing greater independence from Washington’s directives.
Martin Kimani, director of NYU’s Center on International Cooperation, states clearly, “U.S. influence is waning, and it’s waning rapidly.” This is evident as more nations seek to join BRICS, strengthening a new center of global influence that is attracting attention and respect.
Experts note that countries outside the immediate orbits of the U.S. and its rivals are closely watching BRICS’ rise, recognizing its role in fostering a more balanced, multipolar world. As a result, many are choosing to align themselves with BRICS, appreciating the opportunity to maintain independence while benefiting from an alternative power structure.
It is within this background that I believe we in the independence movement have a fantastic opportunity to drive our case forward. The Irish have shown us the way in so many things. They knew when England was distracted or at war it was the best time for them to rebel. The 1916 Easter Rebellion being the best example of that strategy.
The British Union has never been weaker. There has never been more ineffectual politicians and commentators. It is drowning in a sea of debt and is so closely tied to USA that when the collapse arrives, the UK will tumble into a financial morass.
They are still pretending to themselves that they are a world power. They are so eager to please the US and look down upon their European neighbours that they are not paying attention to domestic unrest. Their raid on the pensioners Winter Fuel Payment is beginning to stir up a lot of resentment.
Their supporting of the Israeli genocide is against the vast majority of the people. Likewise, people cannot understand why Starmer has committed £3.6billion to Ukraine every year when there are so many domestic issues that are desperately underfunded!
Never has a government so recently elected become so unpopular, so quickly. Just this week in the City of Dundee the SNP have won two by-elections. Also worth noting that the ‘minor’ independence parties ISP and Alba are at last starting to see growth in their numbers. While these elections have been very low turnouts there is a pattern forming.
The trend of low voter involvement is now firmly the norm. The people are disgruntled and feel let down by all the parties. That unity and sense of common purpose we felt in 2013/2014 has long ago evaporated.
Now, more than ever we need to get the band back together. A united movement cannot be defeated. That is why since 2014 the British establishment have been hard at work destroying the thing that which they fear the most, a united engaged and committed Scottish Independence Movement.
There can be no doubt there are British assets within our movement. The way to defeat them and the Anglos is for us to re-energise the footsoldiers of Yes and get campaigning.
I once more call on our political parties to set aside their differences and put nation before party. We need a Constitutional Convention and an agreed strategy and method of obtaining our independence. We need an electoral event to secure our nationhood. We need to win that event. We will not win it if we continue to compete instead of uniting. A United movement with a united campaign and we can see the Saltire flying between the flags of Saudi Arabia and Senegal outside the UN buildings.
There is no other plausible or practical route to independence. With respect to those that think there is a route via the ICJ or the UN itself I would just point you to Palestine and Israel. The US and UK are two of the largest donors to the UN it jumps to their tune. Although the ICJ and ICC have both found Israel and individuals, Netanyahu and Gallant guilty of war crimes no warrants or sanctions are forthcoming. Why do you think that is? Why are there no sanctions against Israel and over 18,000 on Russia?
Only last week the entire UN with the exception of US, Ukraine, and Israel voted to end the Cuban blockade, Even with such an overwhelming democratic vote the US will just ignore the majority and keep the blockade in place.
The British Union has never been weaker. An electoral event at a UK run election which is Holyrood, cannot be ignored, not even by the Brits and Americans. We let 6 independence mandates go, we must not let this opportunity slip away!
Webcom Radio is Now Playing:
Yes Roddy, compared with the GDP of other ‘small’ North European nations, most with less resources than us, the UK ‘union’ colonial hoax is costing Scots at least £150 billion per annum:

It’s true the US State Department’s all or nothing pursuit of hegemony for its rogue, proxy state in West Asia is alienating many formerly friendly or neutral states in the Caribbean, Central America, South America, Africa, South Asia, the Middle East, East Asia, Central Asia and the Pacific, but it’s not all one-way traffic.
The current generation of political leaders in Finland and Sweden signing up to NATO membership with their respective parliaments (for the time being at least) is the culmination of decades of careful cultivation by the State Department.
Young middle-class politics graduates devoid of real work and life experience, promoted through invisible networks of patronage and opaquely funded third-sector influencing outfits. We know these folks all too well here (John Smith Centre at the University of Glasgow, British American Project, etc..). The common currency these apparatchiks exchange is Identity Politics.
Previous generations of Scandinavian politicians would never have agreed to NATO membership. The proposition is preposterous. Finland & Sweden managed to remain neutral while sharing a land and maritime border with a notionally ideological and expansionist Soviet Union. The idea that the Russian Federation is about to occupy non-Russian speaking territory is crazy. Yes, I’m well aware of Russian expansion into Finland during Tsarist times and the Winter War during Stalin’s time.
The folk of Finland will pay the price for this Foggy Bottom directed lunacy. Finnish defence spending in terms of GDP has expanded by 50% in four years. In addition, Finnish / Russian trade has ceased. Prior to this, Finland exported $2b pa worth of goods to Russia and received $5b pa of goods in return. Russian exports substantially comprised raw materials for Finnish industry. This is roughly equally divided between Hydrocarbons which can be sourced elsewhere (at a greater cost) and semi-processed, scarce minerals (primarily Nickel) which were traditionally refined using Finland’s abundant Hydroelectric power capacity. The cumulative effect will impact hard on living standards of ordinary citizens in Helsinki.
The career politicians touched by the magic hand of the State Department will of course be immune to hardship. Politics is a precarious means of putting bread on the table, but that’s Foggy Bottom’s sales pitch, a safety net for when the great unwashed rumble these carpetbagging parasites. The proposition is all the more attractive as by design these young, Stepford politicians have no real-world skills to fall back on. One of the many reasons Sturgeon despised and feared Joanna Cherry was that the threat of deselection held little sway over someone who could double their income back on “civi-street”. In England, second careers in the House of Lords are dispensed, in Scotland, academic sinecures are handed out. Other means of remuneration are available.
The previous high point of State Department interference in Nordic politics was Helle Thorning-Schmidt’s, Prime Ministerial stint in Denmark. This was the period where the Danish Security Services bugged Angela Merkel’s phone at the behest of the American NSA.
On being kicked out of office in 2015, Thorning-Schmidt was promptly hired as CEO of Save the Children. The incumbent of that post at present earns in excess of £200k. This reminds me somewhat of David Milliband’s consolation prize for loosing the Labour leadership election to his brother. Milliband senior was awarded the position of CEO of the International Rescue Committee in 2013 (a position he still holds). This New York based post carried at the time a salary of £300k. This package has subsequently rocketed to well in excess of £760k.
Thorning-Schmidt is married to Blairite ghoul Stephen Kinnock, the epitome of the entitled profession politician.
Thorning-Schmitd’s résumé is a wonder to behold. Directorships in a dozen globalist, Neoliberal outfits. WEF, Atlantic Council, Council on Foreign Relations, etc., etc., etc.. A CV like that ‘I’ll get you a prime seat on the first tumbril when the pitchforks & burning torches appear.
Thorning-Schmidt and Kinnock possess the must have accessory for these lofty circles; a Trans son / daughter / whatever.
Fabulous comment
There will be no unity of purpose until the snp and greens are bust.
Your piece reminded me of why I was happy to trash my ballot paper in July. Regarding Salvo, it seems unlikely that any member has any real faith in the UN. As you point out above: just look at the Palestinians, apart from having an official delegation, nothing further has been achieved. Personally speaking, I’m of the opinion that Salvo has a powerful story to disseminate amongst the people of Scotland regarding our colonisation, exploitation and subjugation by England. It is a well researched and documented story, which has the potential to expose and bring down the whole nonsense of Westminster’s historical claim of sovereignty north of its border, in a way that no official in the UN’s decolonisation office could begin to even dream of.
I remain firmly in believing that there are only two ways to gain our independence, through the ballot box or through the barrel of a gun. Having been anti war all my days I prefer the ballot box.
Yes. I too would choose the ballot box over the gun, where it’s possible.
“I’m of the opinion that Salvo has a powerful story to disseminate amongst the people of Scotland regarding our colonisation, exploitation and subjugation by England”
Yes, the research explaining our ‘colonial condition’ is there, and the mass of the people should be informed:

“The British Union has never been weaker. An electoral event at a UK run election which is Holyrood, cannot be ignored, not even by the Brits and Americans. We let 6 independence mandates go, we must not let this opportunity slip away!”
But it can be ignored by the SNP. They have form. I keep reading the SNP is the only pro-independence party in the game [whether we like it or not] and we must keep voting for them. It’s what they [the SNP] rely on. I fear were going to be conned yet again by supposedly pro-independence politicians, who, once voted for will ignore us all.
Unity isn’t coming. Our “Independence” parties are corrupt. SNP Greens and Alba. People have nobody to vote for because voting for parties does nothing. They all just do whatever they want and to hell with the electorate.
Political parties tend to get diverted into matters of organisation and policy; national parties need only one purpose – to free the people. Once the people are free, matters will take their course. Until then nothing will or can change.

Your piece in the link above, remains just as fresh and just as relevant as the day that you wrote it. The old, business-as-usual, Anglo-Saxon template of politicking, has not and will not take the independence movement to where we want to be. I’m aware of the reasons why Salvo has no interest in constituting itself as a political party but I’m equally aware of the fact that none of the antediluvian political-tribes are remotely close to placing decolonisation—the D word—at the top of their agendas.
And meanwhile it is reported that on Tuesday, Netanyahu addressed the Lebanese people, urging them to “free your country from Hezbollah so that this war can end.” Failure to do so could mean Lebanon “falls into the abyss of a long war that will lead to destruction and suffering like we see in Gaza,” he warned
So there you are folks. That’s the UK’s ally telling folks that they will commit genocide and misery for ordinary men, woman and children.
And that is our ally!
