No More Meetings, No More Maybes, It’s Time to Take Our Independence
We’ve waited, we’ve marched, we’ve hoped, We’ve voted, and still we are no closer to independence than we were nearly a decade ago.
Let me be absolutely clear, our fight for independence is being sabotaged not just by our opponents, but by deflectors within our own movement. People who claim to support the cause but choose self interest, ego, and dithering over decisive action.
First, we have the yo-yo members, you know the type, one minute they’re out of the SNP because “nothing’s being done”, then next they’re crawling back in, claiming some moral high ground of being treated badly by Alba as if we haven’t all faced it.
Let’s be honest, yes, the treatment some received was appalling but many of us left earlier, faced the same fire, and never turned back because we believed in something bigger than our own bruised egos.
Then there’s the “foreverendum” brigade, those still chasing the fantasy of seeking permission for permission, to ask for the powers to maybe one day hold a referendum, it’s like waiting for Father Time himself to die before we act.
I’m sorry, but I refuse to spend the rest of my life fighting for the chance to ask for our freedom, and don’t even get me started on the “let’s have another meeting” crowd, those stuck in an endless loop of strategy sessions and Zoom calls, talking about talking while Scotland slips further away from the destiny we all know it deserves.
They say we need more conversations. I say we’ve talked enough, the time for hand wringing is over.
That’s why I had the pleasure of helping form Liberate Scotland, not because I want another banner or another committee but because I am done waiting, done debating, done deferring to politicians more afraid of headlines than they are passionate about freedom.
We need a movement on the doorsteps, not in the chatrooms, we need boots on the ground, not egos in the boardroom.
Liberate Scotland exists because we believe independence isn’t something we ask for, it’s something we take, with legitimacy, with votes, with resolve, we need candidates who aren’t just prepared to stand, but prepared to win. Candidates who will say without apology, if the people vote for independence, then we are taking it back. No ifs. No buts.
We are not begging.
We are not asking.
We are not waiting for permission from a broken system designed to deny us.
This is our country, this is our children’s future and we WILL take it back.
Excellent! Having only just returned to live in Scotland just short of two years ago after living South of the border and abroad since 1978 and as someone who has always been pro-independence, I have been dismayed by the division, pi**ing around and in many cases vitriol rattling around the movement. I not only want to see us liberate ourselves but, at 66 I want it to happen soon enough for me to actually see and FEEL the benefits it will bring us and enjoy the pride in seeing what our great wee country can achieve. So I applause and agree with every word you’ve written. 🏴❤️🏴

I have nothing but admiration for all in LIBERTY SCOTLAND for what you are trying so hard to do, I just hope this country wakes up & you get the backing you deserve..

You learn a lot of things on the doorstep, what I learned many years ago was that an overwhelming support existed for Scottish independence amongst “ordinary” working-class people. Again, many years ago, I also learned that the predominantly middle-class SNP leadership of that era was much more interested in capturing the middle-class vote. Looking back, it is now very clear to me that the then SNP leadership dropped-the-ball. Let’s pick that ball up again and acknowledge that our real strength lies with those genuinely patriotic “ordinary” people in the schemes who believe they have everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose with independence.
I learned in 2014 that the working class vote was very important and we went round the Edinburgh Schemes where people wanted to register to vote (once they were told they were safe from the Poll tax bailiffs), so we took round the forms and helped folk complete them if needed. I think the voting returns backed up this initiative.
We keep arguing who has the right to decide if Scotland becomes independent and its been going on for nearly 11yrs, the SNP will keep asking for a section 30 order simply because its the SNP Gold Standard for saying to us we asked and UKG said no, the section 30 order is the SNP get out clause.
I believe its a lot simpler than what we would be lead to believe by the SNP. The UKG has stated very clearly and it couldn’t be clearer that Scotland is in a voluntary union and here is where i’m going to make my point.
If we belive what the UKG is saying is correct then lets test it. Hold a plebiscite election next year and use the phrase voluntary union. Every party put in their manifesto, the UKG has stated that Scotland is in a voluntary union, a vote for our party is a vote to end the voluntary union.
I get where you’re coming from but while Salvo/Liberation Movement are in the process of taking our case to the UN to be recognised as a Non Self Governing Nation, a Colony, for Scots to say were are in a voluntary Union would be a contradiction and I think Westminster would try use it to their advantage.
Barbara, I’m perfectly aware there isn’t a union that’s my point! It would be to show and enhance the case to the UN because lets be honest Scotland is lost and it’ll never be returned unless we the people take action and don’t bank on the SNP their happy to go along with it.
We need action any action.
Barbara the UN cannot give us our independence they can only make recognition easier, that will be made more likely when we prove that it us the sovereign will of the people at an electoral event such as the 2026 election, this is not about claiming we are in a voluntary union its about proving we are not.
