Today’s Through A Scottish Prism podcast is number two in our series of introducing Liberate Scotland Holyrood candidates to you.
I am joined by John Forbes of ISP (J.forbes@isp.scot), Greig McArthur of Indy4Indy (Greigmacarthur32477338@gmail.com), and Dr. Alan McManus of Sovereignty (auchinstarry@proton.me)
These three gentlemen tell us what motivated them to step forward and choose to run for office. Some might not understand just how hard and intrusive it is to actually have the courage to put oneself in the firing line of Scottish politics.
Not only do you have to contend with the constant sniping and griping by the Scots-born unionists you face even more viciousness from so-called independence supporters. The Unionist supporters’ behaviour you can put down to their lack of critical thinking or ability to see reality. Cognitive dissonance is rife in the Unionist community.
The founder of the modern-day SNP, Robert Cunningham Graham, famously said, “The enemies of Scottish Nationalism are not the English… our real enemies are among us, born without imagination.”
Many of those associated with the Independence Movement unfortunately fall into this bracket. Many of them are ‘wannabes,’ and when they see others getting greater traction or attention, these feeble people lash out, attacking anything and everything. They are not putting party before nation. They are putting themselves and their fragile, over-inflated egos before nation.
It was refreshing to listen to my three guests this week as they reveal exactly why they are standing and what they want to achieve. Although all three guests come from different parties and from different sides of the political spectrum, they are united in common cause.
No egos on display here, just a determination to do what is right and best for their nation of birth. While others merely write or pontificate about seeking independence, these three men are actually doing something practical about it.
The independence movement has an overabundance of talking shops. Self-appointed experts telling everyone exactly what they are doing wrong and why we should only listen to them. My guests and scores of other Scots patriots are actually doing, not talking.There has been far too much talking to the converted inside the bubble. Liberate Scotland is going to take the message of hope and independence to the doors of Scotland.Leave the ‘experts’ to their talking shops!
With unity at Holyrood 2026, Scotland could be independent. Opinion poll after opinion poll tells us that support for independence has never been higher. Meanwhile, the so-called main party of independence is languishing in the 30-35% support. This disconnect and the stay-at-home voters are the target audience the Liberate Scotland teams are looking to re-engage in the political process.While others are talking of splitting the vote, these independence stalwarts are talking about reforming the spirit of 2014!
The candidates of Liberate Scotland also have another thing in common that most of the Holyrood MSPs lack, life experience. These folk are bringing that experience to bear on the independence struggle. There are no egos, no personal policies or pledges beyond, Independence, Nothing Else, Independence,Nothing less!

Two referendums, 39MPs. over 500K voters and Hamilton, all lost.
You like most moons think thatvSNP equates to all independence supporters. The reality is more independence folk don’t vote SNP now than do vote SNP. This is exactly why you English nationalists can never defeat the cause. You think it us all about £ and SNP. When you do not even realise what you are opposing is why you can never defeat the movement. Scottish Independence is a given all that remains is the when and how
So who do these “independence folk” vote for then?
If you lot cannot show that the will of the Scottish people is for indy, then it will never happen. Sturgeon labelled the GE last year as a de facto referendum, and you lost 39MPs. And over 500k votes, and garnered 30% of the vote…. why weren’t the indy supporters out voting for other parties of independence?
I’ll tell you why, because they don’t exist
All the good work that Salmond did for your cause was dismantled by the narcissist Sturgeon, who conspired to get him jailed, then you gave us Yousless, a man who would struggle to get a lob pushing trollies in your local ASDA, and now Swinney, who’s political nous is less than zero (remember him swanning around wearing yellow shades and a cowboy hat in the days leading up to the GE last year? What?)
Then we have campervangate, and Murrell has been given legal aid… how many votes has that lost you?
Let me be frank. The only, and I mean ONLY rout to independence is through the SNP, and by golly, they are messing things up every which way they can.
Here’s a wee clue: get rid of Swinney and all the rest of the Troughers, get Sturgeon out of the picture and start again…. govern Scotland well (there’s a thought!), stop the lies and the pointless grievance, and you may recover, but as things stand, right now, indy is as dead as the Norwegian Blue.
If you had any knowledge of Scottish politics, which you clearly don’t you would know without having to ask.In July last year 734,00 voted SNP over 750,000 independence voters stayed at home. In 2026 they wont ve voting SNP but they wont be staying at home either. Final clue they have niot switched to voting English nationalist either.
Roddy , I strongly advise a policy of zero tolerance for Yoon time-wasting clowns like ” Sam Spoons ” . Let them bleat about ” echo Chambers ” in the massive MSM echo chamber : the one that echoes nothing but warmongering propaganda , justifies attacks on the welfare of * ordinary * people whilst feeding the public a revolting diet of mind rotting celebrity pabulum and trivia . The likes of shit-stirring ” Spoons ” have all that vast area of meaningless pish to spout their meaningless pish . Get him/them tae . We genuine Independence supporters have plenty to disagree with without adding the tripe of bad faith actors
