Speaking today (Thursday) ALBA Westminster Leader Neale Hanvey MP has reacted to the Scottish Government’s u-turn over Highly Protected Marine Areas (HPMAs).
“ This is a victory for common sense and very welcome news for those fishing communities who were quite rightly up in arms about HPMAs
“ If allowed to go ahead this would have been an act of vandalism against our fishing communities for no benefit whatsoever.
“ I am glad these plans will not now go ahead and that the voices of our fishing communities have won through in the end but a government acting in the interests of the people and the communities they were elected to serve would never have brought them forward in the first place.
“ But lets be clear this is another dud Green policy which bites the dust. The greens need to urgently review their leadership and their divisive policies. They’re dragging the case for independence down. For the sake of good government and the Independence cause it is time for Harvie and Slater to go.”
I do believe that some things should not be allowed, and one of them is dredging by the big boats. More than anything else, this is killing our inshore waters and fishing, and does nothing to conserve marine life. We do need a conservation policy, but not a total stoppage.
Just a thought, but, if you have no fishing, you can festoon the seas with off-shore green energy wind farms, all with cables taking the energy to England to be processed and stored then sold back to us at exorbitant cost. Every single Green needs to go, not just the two high heid yins, BB. They have been a disaster for Scotland.
As an ex-trawlerman, I challenged the Green rep on Debate Night when she was extolling the virtues of HPMAs and what it would do to fishing communities around Scotland. It was clear that she had no consideration for those people who would lose their jobs and their way of life as long as the green machine ploughed on at their expense.
She said that after 10 years or so that the fish would be more plentiful as had been shown on Arran and that would benefit the fishing communities. What did she not understand about how fishing boats need to keep working and feeding the families of the people working on them? As if they could tie up the boat for 10 or more years and magically everything would fall back into place – like the local butchers, stores and other tradesmen who rely on selling to the boats or working on them are still going to be around and what were the fishermen to do during those 10+ years?
It’s a way of life and once it’s gone it’s gone and it ain’t coming back!
We all know who inflicted the wacky party on the people of Scotland. They received just 4.17% of the overall vote in 2021 and they get 8 MSPs. On the Regional List the Greens achieved 220,324 votes and their 8 MSPs the SNP achieved 1,094,374 votes and just 2 MSPs. It took only 27,541 votes to elect each Green MSP but 547,187 votes to elect each SNP MSP on the Regional List – way to go Nicola! Plus, of course, all the unionists elected that should be nowhere near Holyrood if the SNP had a leader that was not blinded by hate and securing her own position at the expense of the people of Scotland.
PeedoffScot, I hear what you say , of course we do not want to end fishing around Scotlands coast but this is not an either or choice , we have to protect the seas around our coast and fishing it to death and plundering the seaweed forests isn’t the way to do that.We do need stricter rules to protect the sea around our coast.I remember the complaints from fishermen when the EU imposed strict rules about how many fish could be landed and what size of fish were not to be taken the fish stocks replenished as a result of those rules then we had brexit and England sold off our fishing rights to the EU and the highest bidder .
What we need is a sensible approach which is not just let everyone do what they want because that will in the longterm deplete the fish stock losing jobs endangering the who.E industry.
We need controls we need to protect the seabed and the huge seaweed forests we will protect fish and fish stocks and fishing jobs by doing so.
A victory for the people who protested which scared them into reverse those politicians were city Dwellers who had not a clue about fishing communities nor did they give a damn Brexit had almost destroyed them and their families and they again had to suffer fools who only changed their minds because an election could happen sooner than later!
These two Green “politicians” should not have been anywhere near our Scottish Government. They gained access simply because Sturgeon couldn’t shed her jealousy of Salmond’s political expertise and decency. Sad.
The SNP will pay a hefty price for their dalliance with The Greens.
Let us be clear about this minority SNP in coalition with the Greens Scottish government.
This is exactly what Nicola Sturgeon and her party wanted. Had people voted SNP 1 and Alba 2 then there would have been a super nationalist majority with the SNP and Alba having over 90 seats. But instead, and knowing exactly what she was doing the SNP promoted SNP 1 and SNP.2
And so with over a million list votes wasted, a minority SNP number of seats delivered, and a swathe of Tory and Labour MSP’s breathing a sigh of relief that they were not culled by an SNP / Alba vote, Sturgeon then got her minority government supported by the wacky Greens that she wanted.
If ever there was an example of electorally destroying the independence representation then this was it. Over a million SNP votes wasted to deliver 4 SNP MSPs, whereas an Alba vote would have delivered around 30 seats. That is the hard hard hard arithmetic – over a quarter of a million votes to deliver each of the SNP’s four list MSPs.
And then we wonder why the SNP is not progressing independence, has squandered mandate after mandate, will not work with the wider Yes and AUOB, and frankly is now ipso facto opposed to independence.
Well the 2021 Scottish election tells you why!
And the electorate bought the SNP1 and SNP 2campaign message due mainly to so many folks being unknowledgeable about how the list system of electing MSPs works and how the D’hond system ensures that success in the constituency seats militates against success in the regional seats.
And so to put it in
Willie: there can be little doubt now that the whole thing was worked out from late 2014/early 2015, when the ‘wokerati’ infiltrated mainly from Labour, with the later coalition with the Greens sealing matters. Anyone who still thinks this has all been accidental has no understanding of how the hard left, particularly in relation to ‘trans’, works. It is a form of parasitism and has been practised by both the Greens and the SNP ‘wokerati’, with the acknowledgement and encouragement of Sturgeon and her clique.
She went straight from being Alec Salmond’s second-in-command to his nemesis – and the party’s – without a falter. I have said before that I met her once when she and Salmond were standing together as a duo in the leadership battle. It was strange that Roseanna Cunningham had been dropped as his ‘running mate’, and I thought that was a mistake at the time, but rumour has it that shenanigans were taking place even then, and she might well have split the independence movement even earlier. I was not convinced then that she was in full favour of independence – which is easy to say in hindsight, of course, but I did vote for them as a duo because of Salmond and his sure touch.
By 2015, the SNP was already set on the trajectory to hell, and 2016, and the Brexit debacle, just confirmed that. It is very hard, but we have to accept that the the Sturgeon-Murrell axis was doomed to destroy the SNP, not through mishap, but through deliberate actions and a parasitic ideology that was bound to destroy its host in the end. The choice of candidates is still being swayed by it, in both Green and SNP circles. No saving them is possible now, and I hope that they drag the ‘trans’ madness down with them. I doubt it, though. If Labour wins the GE and does well in Scotland, I believe we will see the Greens jump ship, along with at least a good percentage of the SNP ‘wokerati’, to infect Labour beyond even its worst nightmares.
These people are the most dangerous people that the UK, as a whole, has ever had to deal with, and in Scotland, they rule the roost. No words can explain their determination to destroy our society, and the ones who know what they are doing are amply supplied with eejits who do their bidding and with enablers. Think Mao, think Pol Pot, think Stalin, think Hitler, put them all together, cover them in a layer of phoney honey and you would still fall short of the mindset of these people – and they are enabling the right everywhere, as a reaction against their excesses, even though they are from the hard, mad left.
