Democracy,UK style

The Imperialists in London and their House Jock poodles in Scotland keep telling us Scots we cannot possibly have an independence referendum. Their reasoning behind that is because they say Scotland holding an independence referendum is illegal. They have not ever managed to point us to any law that shows it’s illegality. We are just meant to accept their word for it, because England knows best in everything!

David Cameron won the UK General Election in 2015 with 36.8% of the total votes cast. This gave him the ‘legal’ authority and mandate to hold the Brexit Referendum in 2016 apparently. That mandate was never questioned or even hinted at as not being legal.

We have no UK written constitution mainly because England has never bothered with such a trivial irrelevance. Scotland has a constitution, more on that later! England has always been a feudal class ridden society and it has been deemed that ordinary citizens do not merit such things as a written constitution or real democracy. Therefore within England and since 1707 in the union, with no written word, simple majorities are the accepted norms in every democratic decision we take. The only time that is not applicable it seems is when Scotland takes a democratic decision England does not like.

It should also be noted that no UK government has ever managed to be elected on 50% of votes cast. The nearest was Tories in 1955 UKGE with 49.7%. No other UK government has come close.

Precedent carries huge sway in all English legal matters. Therefore, David Cameron faced no questions on the legality or calamity of his Brexit Referendum. A simple majority to govern the union or to affect the constitution as the Brexit referendum did in 2016 proves this. There were no legal challenges. Nor was any permission sought from the European Union to hold a referendum.

However despite the SNP in three separate UK General Elections receiving 50% in 2015, 36.9% in 2017, 45% in 2019. In Holyrood in 2016 it was a similar story SNP achieved 46.5%. In 2021 the SNP achieved 47.7% and if you factor in the other independence parties it was 50.09%. However, according to House Jocks and the English Political Parties while SNP outvoted David Cameron’s 36.8% at every election it is somehow not an acceptable mandate to hold a Scottish Independence Referendum. Go figure!

Do not expect to get any logical explanation to this blatant anti-democratic stance by English Political Parties nor the corrupt UK media. Do not expect them to explain to you why a UK 36.8% is of greater importance than a Scottish 47.7% vote. Like everything in the UK, England has special rights that the Scots, Welsh and Irish are not entitled to. In a nutshell the British Union is not a democracy it is an English imperial pretendy democracy. The Celts and their nations are possessions of England and the English!

In the UK all power is derived from the Germanic monarchy and through her to the English Parliament which doubles as the UK Parliament as far as England is concerned. Subjects of the Crown are supposed to just accept whatever decisions, laws, rules, edicts or actions the Anglo establishment deem appropriate.

On the few occasions that the proletariat do bite back, even a little eg.The RMT or BA strikes, the entire political class, the corrupt media and chattering class go into attack mode against ungrateful, greedy unpatriotic, workshy strikers and or whinging Jocks, Paddies or Taffies!

Of the 65 countries in the empire that kicked out the English/Brits most had to resort to the barrel of the gun. Neither Westminster nor the English/Brits are very keen on democracy. We only have limited democracy within the UK. We have the monarch’s Parliament an unelected talking shop which is in a mid 18th century time warp. It has the weirdest outdated, outmoded practices and procedures. Unlike every other modern democratic parliament in the world, there is not even electronic voting. You can lie to the House, but you cannot be called a liar. You cannot address a member by his name only by his constituency. It is a farcical debauched cesspit of corruption and illegality. What it is not, is a democracy fit for purpose in the 21st century. Indeed, it was not fit for purpose in the 20th Century.

We even have the ridiculous situation of a non elected individual that carries huge influence sitting behind the Speaker’s chair in Westminster. The Remembrancer is one of the City of London Corporation’s Chief Officers; the role dates back to 1571. This is 136 years before the Union! His traditional role is as the channel of communications between the Lord Mayor and the City of London on the one hand and the Sovereign, Royal Household and Parliament on the other. Another ridiculous practise from bygone centuries. You have zero influence over him or how or when he is appointed.

We also have the ridiculous ceremonial nonsense in the City of London. This square mile houses the Central Bank of the UK as well as the stock exchange and all the financial institutions of state. The monarch from who all power is granted cannot enter this hallowed ground without permission of the Lord Mayor. The Sovereign is the only person who outranks the Lord Mayor in the City, and even so the Lord Mayor’s notional permission is sought before the monarch enters that square mile. Most of the UK’s population are most probably unaware of this nonsense. Even fewer would be able to name the current or past Lord Mayors of the City of London or the Remembrancer! Yet these unnamed unelected toadies have an enormous say over our daily lives.

We have a totally undemocratic voting system that ensures the levers of government will always remain within the two major English parties. We have Commons Select Committees that are supposed to scrutinise and hold the executive to account. Again it is mere window dressing. These committees are loaded with the ruling parties MPs and have no real power.Witnesses are never asked to take an oath when giving evidence. It has only ever happened once in centuries. In 2011 senior civil servant Anthony Inglese was made to swear on the Bible when giving evidence to Public Accounts Committee who were probing sweetheart tax deals made between HMRC and corporate companies Goldman Sachs and Vodaphone. It will come as no surprise that ultimately nobody was held to account and the tax cases never went anywhere.

Parliament is not believed to have fined anybody since 1666 and has not “committed anyone to custody”, apart from temporarily detaining them, since the 19th century.

The last time the Commons attempted to reprimand anyone at the bar of the house was in 1957 when the Sunday Express editor John Junor was criticised after offending MPs by publishing an editorial accusing them of abusing their petrol allowances.Criticised for trying to expose Westminster MP corruption plus ça change!

We have an unelected head of state and the abomination of the House of Lords.Currently, it has 768 sitting members. The House of Lords is the only upper house of any two chamber parliament in the world to be larger than its lower house and is the second-largest legislative chamber in the world behind the Chinese National People’s Congress. You have no say in who becomes a peer. You cannot sack a peer no matter what atrocity or crime they commit. You have no say over how much they are paid. You have no say regarding the amount of subsidy their bars and restaurants receive. You do however pay every penny of their upkeep!

These are the same people that are now telling the Scottish nation that despite numerous overwhelming votes and victories for the SNP and other independence parties at Westminster and Holyrood on elections set by their own rules your votes mean nothing.

In effect they are now saying you cannot have a referendum, no natter how often you vote for one. They are also saying you can return 59 out of 59 Independence MPs to Westminster at the next UK General Election and they will still ignore the democratic wishes of the people of Scotland. Time to realise there is no democracy in Scotland. China and North Korea have more democracy than Scots!

They have behaved in similar fashion throughout the centuries in all the continents of the globe. They have been chased out of 65 nations always kicking and screaming as they are removed. Murder, violence, rape, theft, corruption, lies and deceit are the traits of Anglo ‘Democrats.’ We are getting close to the situation where it becomes pointless voting at all in Scotland.

It leaves Scots with few choices. We must continue to demand that our democratic votes are respected. If they are not, then we must refuse to participate in their sham UK democracy at either Holyrood or Westminster. We could recall our MPs from Westminster. Then we should reconvene the The Convention of Estates of Scotland and there declare our independence and seek global recognition. That is our democratic option to independence. London has the choice, democracy or rebellion?

I am an anti war, democratic person. I would never advocate violence as a solution to a diplomatic problem. That said as Brits have shown over centuries they are no lovers of democracy, imperialism is their thing. On every continent over the ages the British have left many countries with no alternative but violence to regain their independence.

By their constant refusal to recognise Scottish democratic choices they are setting the scene for a similar violent end to their association in Scotland. It is not a solution that any democrat should want to see. However, if the Anglos and their tame House Jocks close off every other avenue of democracy then they alone will be solely responsible for any other outcome. London is used to blood on its hands it never has any on its undemocratic arrogant conscience! They also always lose!

They should be aware if the Scottish lion roars they will come to regret it!

  • The Mother of all democracy’s is the Mother of all lies, Democracy is only for England in UK,Ok.
The rest of us are 2nd class colonial subjects, if fact in Scotland we are 3rd class colonial subjects, as a person in Northern Ireland can stay in Europe and have a referendum every 7 years. For this I blame Sturgeon and is clearly a betrayal . We must now look at ourselves as colonial subjects and petition the UN for colonial status as Ireland did , in that way we can start going through the Decolonisation process. At the very least this will draw the eyes of the world to the hypocrisy of the British state. More importantly it put constraints on the Media the voting franchise and election monitoring. We must raise the profile of our bid for independence and change the narrative and circumvent the propaganda and lies. Dissolve the Union.

  • Good piece . I get sadder by the day with the inaction and supplication and the constant lying media.

      • Of course we MUST keep up the fight. There is no other way forward.

While I’m here, any idea why I can’t register a “like” on your site, Roddy? OK anywhere else but not here.

      • I won’t give up but I need the weapons to fight and the SNP /Greens /Stonewall appear to have given them all to Westminster.

The only thing that is cheering me up is the utter mess in Westminster yesterday and today – we as in the UK may not have a government tomorrow or later today .

  • The above is, indeed, the material reality as things currently stand in the Scottish colony, and no amount of expensive and time wasting legal maneuvering on the part of Scottish politicians (people with no part, whatsoever, in the design or governance of the historically constructed British legal maze), is unlikely, if not 100% guaranteed to change nothing!Taking a case to any court, wherein you already know that the likelihood of winning are minimal reeks of vanity-tripping, if not unmitigated cynical and sinister political intent.

  • We will never get anywhere by playing by Westminster’s rules as Sturgeon does. We need a true leader who has enough savvy to take Westminster on and win. We are a nation! Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Our future leaders will have to behave like a government, which is not what is happening now. Don’t be surprised if we see Sturgeon wearing ermine in a few years time.

  • There is no law that prevents the people doing anything for the common good, there is no law that prevents governments from committing evil, There was a video I saw recently and for the life of me I can’t remember where I saw it or who was speaking but the speaker pointed out that something like 95% of murders in human history have been committed legally. The law has no power over the will of the people and lets not forget that, if we the people of Scotland wish to take back what is rightfully ours no law in the world can stop us and those who try to tell us otherwise can and should be ignored

  • The snp WILL leave us with no choice but violence Roddy, deep down I always felt it would come tae blows. So if nèed be bring it on.

  • Liar Johnson about to get the push? A snap general election? Before the supreme court’s decision? Will Sturgeon have the guts to go for a de facto referendum regardless of the court and Westminster? She prides herself in obeying Westminster law doesn’t she? Scotland needs true leadership. England’s problems are Scotland’s opportunity.

  • With Sturgeons SNP all we get is subserveance, when we clearly have sovereignty and a constitution in Scotland with is written into the Treaty of Union. We need this recognised by the SNP and Sturgeon removed and someone put in who is a real patriot who will fight for our laws our sovereignty and the people. Also the voting Franchise needs acknowledge as a trap for the Unionists giving settlers a veto on our democracy and vote should only be of the Scots born indigenous population.
