My guests this week are Denise Findlay, Phil Boswell and Yvonne Ridley. Live on YouTube Channel and at @scotpol1314 on Twitter.
We discuss Nicola’s Supreme Court gamble over Holyrood’s competence to hold and run an independence referendum. Is she just using likely outcome as a tactic or is she genuinely trying to gain approval?
The usual Unionist drivel and negative reactions to the possibility of Scottish democracy. However, the Unionists might have posh voices, but they don’t have polished brains. Their attempts at objecting to independence or even they very idea of debating it prove to be self-defeating to some Unionist dullards.
A new independence warrior is discovered on of all places BBC Question Time.
From Westminster we discuss the Chris Pincher scandal and the different way the Tory Party handle their sleaze and elected abusers.
BJ and the bj!
The changing world and Scotland’s place in it.
Labour councillors being suspended the reasons is what shocks and disgusts our panel.
TUC seem to be forgetting their main focus. It seems lots of organisations, political parties and government agencies have been caught down the same rabbit hole!

Great stuff, BB. Absolutely agree that we must campaign as if this is going to happen, even where we believe it won’t. Yvonne and Phil are right: the SNP is going to be left behind if it doesn’t include the whole independence movement in any plebiscitary election; but I fear that they will present us with a GE version of SNP 1 & 2 again in order to use our votes as the springboard for re-election.
Spot on, Phil: neocon, neoliberal, militaristic – all in the space of a few years and not even bothering to ask the people.
We are going in the right direction, I think, by utilizing both the political and the constitutional in parallel and, ultimately, converging, policy action.
Phil: I understand where you are coming from, but calling the GRA reform “lightweight” is a bit insensitive because this, for females, is very heavyweight. Yes, for many of the independence movement it probably is “lightweight”, but for the women of Scotland it is. cynical betrayal of us that we are not going to forgive. If herself opens up the vote to the whole independence movement, I will be 100% behind that, but, if she restricts the vote to SNP (her way or the highway), it’s the highway for me. I will never vote SNP again, never, under any circumstances, and I have been a supporter of the SNP since I was 13, and am now a granny. I have never wavered in my support nor in my belief that we would regain our independence, in all that time. Nicola Sturgeon and her cohort have totally alienated me and many women like me. I might re-assign my vote to someone else and allow them to vote as they choose, but, I, personally, will never put a cross next to the SNP again as long as I live. Sorry, Phil.
Enjoy your well deserved break from the fray, BB; you’re doing an exemplary job. Where else will we go meantime, though, to hear people who know what they’re talking about and who don’t sugar-coat their opinions? All the best!
Yeah, I agree Denise, a force for independence. Our pro-indy community needs to make a push and go with this ‘unrealistic’ indyref2 date for now. If it gets more people back out on the streets for marches / rallies this summer, all the more excellent. The levers of independence could change position at any point, so it might not do any harm to get a bit of a buzz a going again and just be ready to turn it around on ’em as and when necessary – incase some other potential ’emergency situation’ requires people to remain indoors again for an undefined period. Until then, bookmark this…
It’s just over 1 year, 107 days remaining to go!:

I have an idea. To push things further forward, might it be an idea to get posters and stickers made up for our imminent indyref2 on 23rd October 2023. They say the SC may take till later to decide, but they may Spring something else upon us this before Autumn ’22, call it a catch. Let’s beat them to it, in Glasgow, there are poster drums… we could put our indyref2 date up on them, and then when indyreferendum2 comes and doesn’t go, the ‘cancelled’ over-posters banners appear. That message could be SO powerful. Let’s crowdfund our future iScotland. I’ve been everywhere in Glasgow’s south side tonight. Let’s PLAY them at their own GAME ha!

Whoops, call that date the 19th Oct ’23, one was in previous 2016 mode there.
Summer has arrived, Scotland.
Another thoroughly worthwhile programme – a joy to hear people saying what we badly want to hear. Thanks to all of you.
The Picts were descendants of the Neolithic people and occupied most of Scotland including the Outer Hebrides and Northern Isles. The Dalriada Scots/Gaels of Argyll came later, and were around in Roman times according to their records, the Vikings arriving later post 800, the latter devasting Pictish communities in the Northern Isles and Caithness but failing to make much further progress southward in Pictland. Scotland as we know it was formed by a merger of sorts between the Picts and the Gales. The Scots language was forming as we know from early middle ages and before and regular trade/travel was also developing with the Continent by the 1200s on. It therefore seems reasonable to assume that the Scots language developed from within the Pictish communities who occupied most of Scotland and certainly most of the eastern coasts.
Can’t see it happening to be fair , there are far too many people calling Sturgeon out on this and lets face it we all know how twisted she is. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/nicola-sturgeons-route-map-is-flawed-at-every-turn-2mlhpt0ld?fbclid=IwAR2EeaVdhmvKAaUtpl4YPzsBAcHg1zWaNg9ep-DvQikyXFJjAxdRRZpWJck
Maybe this is Her plan to kill off the Yes movement once and for all ?

Using uber loyalist Unionist gutter press to back up anti Scottish independence is not the best tactics.
Oh Come on Roddy , you know its the truth no matter what Newspaper its printed in, Sturgeon is just a bullsh*tter and sadly Her forever worshipping followers will swallow it Hook Line and Sinker.
