ALBA WESTMINSTER LEADER NEAL HANVEY CHALLENGES SCOTISH HEALTH SECRETARY OVER BOOSTER

APPOINTMENT SHAMBLES

The ALBA Party’s  Group Leader Neale Hanvey MP has today (Wednesday) written to Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care Humza Yousaf MSP asking for urgent clarity and action to ensure availability of booster appointments in line with his own advice.

The arrival and rapid spread of the Omnicron variant has led to renewed pandemic uncertainty. In response the Scottish Government have been encouraging people over the age of 18 to get a booster vaccination. However, it has transpired that the Scottish NHS websites are not in step with the Health Secretary’s advice and do not allow 18-39 year olds to book appointments for the much needed vaccine boosters.

Speaking today Neale Hanvey MP said:

“The Scottish Government are understandably keen to see strong uptake of booster vaccinations, but what good does it do to ask folk to get a booster whilst simultaneously preventing them from making an appointment to comply with that recommendation? Is this yet another bungle from the hapless Health Secretary?

“I don’t think it is an unreasonable expectation for the government to ensure that the relevant NHS websites provide consistent, accurate and up-to date information and access to booking systems in line with that advice.

“It’s not too much to expect that the government should have its act together on such an important matter.

“That’s why I have written to the Cabinet Secretary to ask if he will resolve this matter urgently and enable my constituents and everyone across Scotland to take advantage of a booster dose to protect themselves and their loved ones against Covid.”

  • Hi Roddy – you may want to change spelling of appointment in heading and also remove “appointment shambles” from line 1 of the post ? atb, Geoff

      • “When I get press releases I just send them out. I do not even spell check them. Changed now”

You could try changing “Scotish” to Scottish too ? Are you sure your Scottish yourself ? Seems doubtful if you even missed that one ? Maybe your just some Foreign born pretender instead of Scotlands own Lord Haw Haw after all ? LOL Just joking Roddy Just joking.

  • I’ve never been able to book an appointment through the website. I attempted several times for both doses of the vaccine but both times found it impossible. I used the telephone option. Website not fit for purpose.

    • I am all for stopping the census but the census might be the only thing that confirms the level of migration from the south ,highlighting the rate that we are being taken over. The real reason this has been delayed for a year by the SNP. They know the shit will hit the fan with this.

  • Same as Neil, impossible to book or rearrange by website, in my case I could not attend the appointment due to severe local flooding. I went to the vaccination centre a week later, I was asked why I had not re-booked. I explained your website does not work and your phone number just keeps repeating the message when I press button no.2. Apparently the same for everybody. Got the booster and flue jab anyway.

    • I’m gutted things are that bad , how come these things don’t end up written about in the National or brought up at Hollyrood ? Its very sinister that things can be so bad and yet nobody wants to talk about it at any senior level in Public or on the MSM , this can’t be the sort of Scotland we want to see. Its surely not rocket science to get a Website working properly at Scottish Government level ? If they can’t do that properly God help Scotlands most needy when the SNP take over responsibility for paying out Social and Welfare payments, who will they hide behind then ? (Disappointed of Dunbarton)

  • YES SCOTLAND NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Neale,

Don’t waste your time. Humza cannot chew gum and walk at the same time never mind do the job he has.
His only skill content set is to say “Yes Nicola” and find another cousin for the candidate list.

  • I am sure that everyone will agree. Public health is vitally, important to all of us.
With that in mind, I would urge you to take the time, to watch a Facebook podcast (posted by Randy Hillier) on Covid, dated 12/07/21, between Dr Reiner Fuellmich and Dr David Martin. Sorry I can’t link it, but if you Google for Dr Reiner Fuellmich, you will get it there….

  • Here’s an idea. If his constituents are so confused, why doesn’t he get one of his researchers to find out how to book an appointment, or, failing that, list all of the local WALK-IN vaccination centres, have a leaflet printed on his Parliamentary expenses, and have all of the local Alba members deliver it. Or he could sit on his backside and write a snidely wee letter, like any Tory would, and claim that he has done something.

  • People fear love… that’s naturally cool.

    Lets blame it all on 5, 6, 7 G.

    Love is cool

    Love is always.

    Cheers Neale n Mr B
