#ALBA ANNOUNCES TWO NEW CANDIDATES
MP AND FORMER MP DECLARE FOR ALBA
The Alba party have announce two new candidates for the Scottish elections.
KENNY MACASKILL MP will lead the Lothian list. The MP for East has released an open letter (attached) to his party workers in East Lothian which explains his decision.
He says
“I will be joining the newly formed Alba Party to deliver that supermajority for independence through the list vote and which I believe’s essential to achieving our Nations Independence”.
CORRIE WILSON the MP for Ayr, Carrick and Cumnock from 2015-17 has also announced she has joined Alba and intends to stand in the South of Scotland list.
“I am delighted to be joining the Alba Party whose goal is to secure independence for Scotland – the cause that so many in Scotland have given so much to support.
I believe we have a fantastic opportunity at this election to work with others to deliver an independence #Supermajority leaving Boris & co in no doubt that we are ready for self determination.”

On Friday 26th March the Alba Party was launched by Alex Salmond and Alex and three other candidates were declared – Eva Comrie who transferred from No1 on the SNP list for Mid Scotland and Fife, businesswoman Cynthia Guthrie who is standing in the South of Scotland and Cllr Chris McEleny, the author of “Plan B” who is standing in the West of Scotland.

Dear Friend
I am writing to advise you of a decision I have taken and provide you with my reasoning. I believe that this is the best way to achieve our goal of independence.
This coming election’s vital for our Nation. Brexit has happened with all the social and economic harm predicted. Worse is to come as trade deals are struck, harming our economy and threatening the NHS. Further austerity beckons as the economic costs of the pandemic are loaded on to those least able to afford it. Finally, the ability to mitigate the hardship and protect our communities is threatened by Westminsters attack on Holyrood powers.
The need for Independence has never been greater, yet the opportunity to achieve it is has never been more favourable.
A Prime Minister who is rightly loathed leading an incompetent Government, acting as a kleptocracy. The risks said to apply to independence have been exposed, as EU membership has been lost, the strength of sterling has plummeted and the supposed benefits of global British prestige shown to be false.
Instead the risk is now in remaining in the UK as a nuclear arsenal is increased, a low wage economy pursued, all as part of the delusion of a New Age of Empire. That’s why not only winning the election but winning it well’s essential. Boris Johnson must not be able to reject Scotlands democratic rights, Scottish democracy must prevail over a Westminster veto.
To ensure that it’s essential to not only return an SNP Government but to deliver a supermajority for Independence. Thus ensuring that Scotland not London decides. At the moment the electoral system works against that. The regional list system sees SNP votes stack up votes but very few list SNP MSPs returned. Almost a million votes were cast for the SNP in 2016 but only 4 SNP list MSPs were returned, and in just 2 out of 8 regional constituencies. Instead 24 Tory and 21 Labour unionists took the seats.
In 6 Regional list areas no SNP MSP was elected.In Lothian which includes Midlothian and Musselburgh, 118,546 votes cast for the SNP returned no MSP and other regional constituencies were even starker. Even in South of Scotland which includes the rest of East Lothian 3 MSPs were succesful but a victory in the constituency this time, will see likely the loss of a list seat. It’s why I believe that support for an Independence List Party is essential.That can deliver the super majority for independence which will allow Holyrood to overide Londons dictat. Removing Unionist MSP are replacing them with those committed to Independence.
Currently SNP rules don’t allow that and the HQ strategy opposes it. I think that’s a mistake and harms our cause. So, it is for that reason that after considerable thought, and after over 40 years, I am relinquishing my SNP membership, to support this final push for our Nations Independence.
I will be joining the newly formed Alba Party to deliver that supermajority for independence through the list vote and which I believe’s essential to achieving our Nations Independence. Some members are doing likewise but it’s a personal decision for us all and I hope you’ll understand my reasoning.
My office will continue operating for constituents and I will continue serving as MP. Along with other colleagues in Alba I will work with the SNP Group in Westminster in opposing the harm that’s being done to our land by the UK Government. I will likewise continue to work for Paul McLennans election as the constituency MSP at the coming election in May
Whether in the SNP, Alba Party or Yes Movement, Independence is our shared goal. Let us go forward and deliver it.

Another MP who cannot bring himself to correctly identify the English government (and its PM), English political parties and the English establishment. Who fails to correctly identify GB as UK is the term used by the English establishment for England and in promoting the English continuator state narrative where they claim that Scotland was extinguished and subsumed into a greater England under the new name of UK as per the paper written by Crawford and Boyle and promoted by the English government and its establishment. Who fails to state English veto preferring “Westminster” when there are only 2 official governments within the 1707 trade Agreement both of whom are equal partners with equal authority regardless of MP numbers or population majority. And to top it off refers to the Scottish SNP government as a mere group. As though they have no authority.
Scotland is a country. It doesn’t require permission from any other country and sure as hell deserves to be treated as the sovereign country, not just nation, that it actually is by those professing to represent it. If those with the gifted authority to represent Scotland cannot and will not treat Scotland as a sovereign country and to correctly identify the opposition to Scotland’s statehood while claiming policies created and enacted by the English government are done by SCOTLAND, Wales, Northern Ireland and England under the term of “Westminster” then how serious can they truly be? How do they propose breaking the colonial mindset of the Scots when they themselves are the problem?
So apart from Kenny not using the correct nomenclature for Scotland’s relationship with its ruling neighbour, are you pleased? Let’s be honest it’s a bit of a constitutional anorak thing. Maybe educate and don’t irritate.
It isn’t a bit of a constitutional anorak thing. And if it irritates you to have folk point out what is fundamentally wrong then you should ask yourself why it irritates you so much. Maybe it’s because the colonial mindset is so rife in Scotland and that is the real barrier to Scotland regaining its statehood? As for pleased, I am glad that there is a true opposition to the English political parties. Especially when the SNP have alienated many of its supporters especially with its recent policies. If Alba do well the Scots will finally have a party that is prepared to hold the SNPs feet to the fire and push for Scotland’s statehood. Even more important now that Scotland is being actively occupied.
A political giant and long-time veteran of the independence movement, a man of inestimable courage and integrity—this is superb news, a corner has surely been turned.
Every day that goes by I become more disgusted by the SNP leadership.
Humza the hypocrite all over the telly slagging off Salmond. A lot of people would say that Humza having an affair with a party worker whilst married and then marrying her and getting his new wife a place as a constituency candidate (nepotism seems to be rife in today’sSNP) is inappropriate. Not to mention driving a car with no insurance when Transport Minister, getting caught by the police and then blaming the wife he cheated on is pretty inappropriate as well. Did Humza have to resign as Transport Minister – no chance – he is one of Sturgeons pals.
All these Britnat parties and the SNP – what a bunch of hypocrites and holy willies.
If others can hold their noses long enough and vote SNP in the consituency then I say well done. The stench of corruption and hypocrisy is far too much for me to bear.
