I for one had a huge weight lifted from my shoulders when the albaparty.org came along.
I truly had a dilemma on what to do with my vote.
SNP certainly wasn’t getting my constituency vote due to all the recent shenanigans and their absolute lack of movement towards Independence.
I can also bring to the table the treatment of Independence supporters, current MSP’s and MP’s and ex MSP’s and MP’s and bloggers.
So it was between AFI and ISP for my regional vote.
Now albaparty.org has arrived on the scene (I let out a massive roar of celebration when the news broke) I have hope, my spirits have been lifted and we will have a party in Holyrood that will hold the snp to account and keep them in check.
A party for the people and Scotland once again.
Thanks for all the great work you all do in bringing us news and more importantly, the truth.
To be honest, I’m not confident that the SNP would work in the parliament with Alba, especially since independence has gone off their radar. The vitriol they have been spewing has been horrendous and I can see the SNP looking on Alba in the same way that Labour look on the SNP. So sad that the Sturgeon cabal have brought us to this divisive situation. If only they had stuck to their raison d’etre and ignored the identity politics.
Joined Alba on Friday – waiting on the SNP to send me my “get oot” letter.
Please, please, please can you fix the technology so that like other blogs I can listen continuously and not have to touch my iPad screen every so often. I’m a former SNP branch Convener and recently new Alba member and will be relying on blogs for my information and since Lesley R has got it right I’m looking forward to hearing what’s on offer uninterrupted.
Cheers and keep going. The secrecy thing was astonishing and you’ve given me a much needed boost – I’m no longer scouring the classified ads for the rental of a long dark cave during the next 10 weeks.
If you go to the top right of your screen and click on your options, select listen in (Samsung) internet, or whatever phone you’ve got. Then it won’t keep going off.
Thanks guy’s for your input Im 72 yrs auld today on Friday I joined the first ever political party ALBA & once the Alba site is cleared I will be donating £ 100 Im sure many others will contribute over the coming weeks & again to those other new Indy list parties Big Tammy Doft for withdrawing leaving the way clear for Alba to get a Supermajority & Max the Yes vote
I did not leave the SNP it left me with no voice as a woman. Also, the healthy position for Scotland as a democratic nation is to have many pro Indy parties instead of a one party state with all power to the head of the party where that head becomes vulnerable to the British and media.
I feel appalled at the vile comments from so called Indy supporters, what’s wrong with intelligent discourse?
But, the overwhelming feeling is that of freedom and joy at belonging to a party who will listen to my views and fears and work with them and not disregard them as it was done under Sturgeon.
Great stuff. I, personally, am getting just a wee bit sick of the sniping though. The court found Alec Salmond not guilty. That’s it. The jury was not convinced by the evidence against him. That’s it, FM. No, women don’t get a fair deal under the law, in general, but this went to our and he was found not guilty. Unless you want to remove the central tenet of the criminal law, innocent till proved guilty, then please put an end to this constant, unwarranted sniping. It only serves to get people’s backs up. No more sniping. No more Ms Brindley of Rape Crisis Scotland, who, incidentally, broke all the legal rules by allowing a man to head up one of its centres after having lied and cheated his way into the job, badmouthing as the SNPG’s mouthpiece. Time to let go and move on. Nothing has proved more that the entryists, science deniers, et al are opposed to independence any time this side of the millennium than the vitriol and abuse that has been spewed out on-line. It is game, set and match. Swallow the anger and let’s get independence on the Westminster table.
Interesting chat fellas, and a lot to think about.
I’m going to take a little jump here into the future.
Let’s assume we have a supermajority in May. SNP are somewhere near 60 seats, and Alba manages to pick up 25. Feet are under the table and sleeves are rolled up. Those brave souls who have tramped the streets and spoken to Scots have had a rest after their herculean efforts, and are ready for the next step in the march to independence.
Council elections are next year. Those folk who tramped the streets are our database of comments, opinions, complaints, observations, and so on. They’ll show us what Scottish folk want, not only at national level, but local level. It’s that information that could propel us into councils, imho.
Why?
Because for the same reason folk have become disillusioned at a national level with their lives in the hands of WM/Holyrood, they have also become disillusioned at a local level in councils who been indifferent at best about the lives of locals, and contemptuous at their worst. If we can plug into that vast pool of local knowledge collected by our folk on the ground, and develop a strategy that connects with locals positively, then we can also wipe the unionists from the councils, and further diminish the damage they’ll do, or try to do, on our way to independence.
This is what drives me mad – the injustice and unfairness. Those charges, set up by scared cowardly people who couldnt “get him” politically. I just wish you guys had front pages in newspapers to sit on the shop shelves and debunk all the smears and lies. Or are interviewed on Sky news. Panorama should try an honest story.
I am currently on at least a 6 page barring list when l have had the temerity to suggest that the Govan-hill mother Teresa’s agenda might be suspect in the face of the dastardly Salmond .One chap told me that it was his page and he wasn’t being called juvenile on it even if he was ?.l have joined Alba in the hope that we at last might get the deal done in my lifetime and bask in the glory of getting on Patel’s hit list for “ foreigners “ .
Please stop slagging the SNP. You are not in opposition at the moment. I also appeal to SNP not to slag Alba. Alec Salmond has been careful with his language. We shall all do the same.
I think we all have work together to achieve independence . We won’t get anywhere if it becomes a battle between two Titans ! There is so much to lose and so much to gain.

I agree Mary but the attacks on Eck are simply beyond all and cannot go unchallenged by anyone with a conscience ( there was actually a site on Facebook which had the title of “ Alex Salmond is a deluded Wanker “ which has been reported by me as hate speech ).The FM needs to shut up as she is increasingly coming across as shrewlike and vindictive and she by her actions is encouraging this and when taken with her buddy Robertson and the Portree Blusterer they are not helping themselves in the least
Oh joy!
Great chat Roddy and Ian. Great to hear so much positivity in your voices. Almost tangible.
I joined Alba on Saturday. Never having been a member of a political party before, this is a momentous occasion. Not at least because I’m in my 70th year now. Voted only SNP for over 50 years. Still remember Billy Wolfe in his Bathgate office in Mid Street where we lived. Ran into him a few times on my little bike!
Prayers have been answered. Hearts have been lifted. Hope certainly, does spring eternal.
Go Scotland!
Now the torch is lit….

My thoughts exactly, well said.

I am not sure what technology you want me to fix🙄
It sounds more of an Ipad issue than anything.
I agree Bb, I’m on an iPad, listened to you both … no problems whatsoever.

Well said Kenneth.
The SNP are not the enemy but they sure as hell continue to act like it.
BTW. Great chat chaps.
