The action by the Scottish Government for a Section 30 Independence Referendum placed with the Supreme Court in London received a typical arrogant Westminster reply. The UK Government wants the Supreme Court to throw the case out without even hearing the substantive arguments. The imperialists in London do not think the,1,359,611 who voted SNP, Green and Alba Party in May 2021 and all supporting an independence referendum have a right to even receive their day in court. The English imperial masters do not think they are worthy of consideration. Disdainful rejection and arrogant English imperialism on show!
Liz Truss the Tory front runner to be the next English Prime Minister has vowed to ignore Scotland and her First Minister. According to this dim witted woman Scotland is just an attention seeker and should just be disregarded. When a helpful journalist offered the opportunity a few days later to correct or at least explain her insult to the nation of Scotland Truss instantly rebuffed such a notion of apology with a rapid No!
This, of course, got her massive applause from the Tory, racist, members of the audience. Demeaning and being disparaging about other nations, cultures and languages is firmly imbedded in the Anglo British DNA! It helps give them their very false sense of superiority!
Rishi Sunak the other Tory in the contest has been equally insulting and undemocratic about Scotland. Both these nondescript English MPs are held in utter contempt by the vast majority of Scots and not just the independence supporting Scots. When the Tory membership choose Truss perhaps Sunak will then realise the kind of people he has made treaty with. They will choose this low wattage clueless woman over him. If he cannot join the dots he can always call me and I will enlighten him!
The leader of the English opposition Labour Party the dull as dishwater Sir Keir Starmer is another antidemocratic English imperialist who also says that under no circumstances will Scotland ever be “allowed” to hold any form of Independence Referendum or Plebiscite.
All these English politicians have made it perfectly clear there is no democracy for Scots. They will only tolerate minimal democracy when it comes to filling their Parliament in England. However, even if we return 59 MPs out of 59 and they have all stood on a Plebiscite platform for independence the result will not be valid. They will always deny Scots their democratic wishes.
They are also suggesting that neither the Treaty of Union nor our ancient Claim of Right will be legally acceptable as means to our desire for independence. The COR has been endorsed more than once and in both the old Scottish Parliament and in the Parliament in London. It is a Scottish Constitution, however it seems unlike the EU Treaty we have no escape clause. England and their second rate politicians and media have discounted our Claim of Right basically because it is not English!

Except for viewers in Scotland!
Putting it simply, it is like the BBC coverage of the Commonwealth Games, it is all about England and only if they have no other choice will we get some coverage for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland’s athletes.Even then if there is the slightest tenuous link to England, they try to get the reflected glory. That is just how fragile the English ego is!
That said, I have to ask this, if England’s numerically superior MPs deem that there is no democratic or legal path to Scottish independence. What are we Scots supposed to do? I know you would like us to be silent except when praising you and England however that is not going to happen. If the imperialists continue to suggest that Westminster sovereignty is superior to the Claim of Right you leave us Scots with only three choices.
Choice number one is to accept English overlordship and forsake independence entirely. I think even the most hard bitten English nationalist or any of their spineless Scottish House Jocks know that is not going to happen.

Choice number two is the same day that the Supreme Court denies us democracy or justice we appeal to the UN to intervene on our behalf. The Westminster Parliament needs to realise that their refusal is them suggesting Scotland is nothing but an English colony. That there is no equal union of two nations. They are suggesting Scotland has been subsumed into England and is now a region, not an ancient nation within a democratic equal union. They are saying the Treaty of Union was not a trade agreement between two sovereign nations but an unconditional surrender document by Scotland.
Since the birth of the United Nations, more than 80 former colonies comprising some 750 million people have gained independence from imperial nations. The UN Decolonisation Unit assists nations that find themselves in situations like Scotland now finds itself. The very act of appealing to the UN would be most embarrassing for England and its London Parliament. We also have to appeal to all other global groupings of nations to back our fight for democracy. The EU as well as the UN must have immediate representations from Scotland.
However, there are many other groupings we must appeal to. The African Union (AU) is a continental body consisting of the 55 member states that make up the countries of the African Continent. It was officially launched in 2002 as a successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU, 1963-1999). Nobody more so than African nations know about the curse of colonisation. Scotland I am sure would get a great deal of sympathy and support for our struggle.
ASEAN, ten Southeast Asian countries: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. These nations too have felt the cold grip of European and American imperialism. Once more Scotland would have a sympathetic audience.
In South America we can make representations to UNASUR it is a consensus mechanism comprised of Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay and Venezuela.Again these are countries that have suffered American and British imperialism and we can expect a sympathetic reception and understanding from these nations.
Then there is the ever growing and influential BRICS grouping. Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa these are shortly to be joined by Algeria, Argentina, Syria, Venezuela, there is also talks going on with UAE, Saudi, Turkey, Serbia. This is an organisation that is setting up a counter balance to the US hegemony. They too I am sure would give a sympathetic ear to Scotland’s plight.
International recognition is the most vital step on the road to independence. By involving these organisations, we would be bringing a huge amount of pressure on to the English Parliament to recognise Scotland’s democratic wishes.
Once the UN agrees to take on our fight then the UK is very much on the back foot. At worst they will offer all sorts of concessions to Scotland. More than likely FFA (Full Fiscal Autonomy) would be offered. With Westminster just keeping control of defence and foreign affairs.
Not acceptable to me, nor I doubt many other Scots! At best Westminster would agree to a UN run Independence referendum. This would also ensure the UN chooses the franchise as per their criteria. It would also mean, no English Electoral Commission, no Westminster involvement, no foreign media or political parties would be allowed to participate as per the usual UN guidelines for such independence plebiscites. Only political parties registered in Scotland would be eligible to participate.
Choice number 3 is the least palatable however it has to be given consideration. If the Westminster politicians continue to block all democratic and legal routes to independence and ignore the UN as they have done over The Chagos Islands then we have to do the same as countless other nations have done before with the same undemocratic English elites.
I am a man peace, in the recent past I have come under attack for my principles of no war, an immediate ceasefire and a negotiated settlement in the Ukrainian conflict. This has me accused of being pro Putin and pro Russia. A complete nonsense and no matter how many times I have condemned the invasion the accusations don’t stop. War to me is a result of a failure of diplomacy. Sadly, especially the military industrial complex thrives on wars. They hold more sway than peaceniks like me. More importantly they have deep pockets and in USA in particular they buy politicians and ensure we have bogey men like Russia, China, Iran, Syria instead of diplomacy. I hold the same view for all wars. An end to hostilities and brokered peaces.
Violence is something I abhor however like most Scots I have never backed down from a bully. It is inbred into us because over the centuries we have lived next door to a clamorous, aggressive, violent, thieving neighbour. For centuries we all had to be ready to fight to save our nation from the southern ursuper.
It was the women, the clergy, the camp followers and older folk that swung the balance at Bannockburn. Scots do not start fights, we do however finish them.
Westminster did not want to negotiate with PIRA until a huge bomb was detonated at Canary Wharf a direct attack on their beloved square mile. Shortly after there was the Good Friday Agreement. England needs to receive the proverbial punch on the nose sometimes to get it to see the inevitable. Sadly on every continent tens of thousands of innocents died because of English intransigence and inability to face reality or embrace democracy.
Nobody wants to see such things ever again on the British mainland. Do idiots like Truss and Rishi not realise that by their actions and words they are possibly setting the wheels in motion for an armed struggle?
My plea to them is this, listen to the democratic will of the Scottish people and reject your English imperialism. Embrace democracy before it is too late. Better ballot boxes than bombs!
These are the three choices I hope and pray for a democratic outcome. Westminster over the centuries it seems has never learned from its mistakes. Every time it has tried to hold on to other nations to steal their wealth, they have always eventually lost out. Westminster mend the error of your ways before it is too late. Better to have a friendly equal nation partner than a resentful neighbour, especially one that controls 25% of your electricity, 95% of your oil, 100% of your whisky, 80% of your Gin and 90% of your seafood!
For your own sake, best not to piss us off! Scots make great friends but really bad and dangerous enemies!

Petitioning international blocs list ASEAN and BRICS is probably a medium term tactic, though there is no harm in starting today. The rift between the west and the rest of the world will take some time to solidify. Depending on our standing in those countries it might take a while to get them to make trade deals with the UK dependent on following democratic principles and values. The irony would be immense and just might be too tempting to ignore.
Bravo, for mentioning the tiger in the room, option 3. Given the sentiment in some of the press there’s a real danger that violence will be thrust upon us. Sentiment in England is sliding to the right. There’s an entire generation of politicians like Truss who are too lightweight to stop it. On the contrary they are trying to ride that wave to gain popularity. As things deteriorate and Truss, inevitably, gets the boot, the door might open to someone who needs to embark on Jock and Taffy bashing to shore up their support. It’s already begun….
Afghan refugees reject homes in Scotland and Wales because ‘it’s cold and they don’t speak English’, https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/08/11/afghan-refugees-reject-homes-scotland-wales-cold-dont-speak/
Yes, Roddy. There are three options. Not a difficult choice for Scotland. But the English politicians are about to find out (like the Nordic King of England before them) that it’s not possible to hold back the tide.
The Union is now being exposed for what it is, a treaty with rights and obligations.
That Scotland has the right to choose its future, the response from England is now one of overt hostility and racism.
And let us make no mistake, England will use violence against us because when all else fails that is what they do.
England wants Scotland for it resources, but not its people. They consider our land to be their very own Jockistan.
In consequence we must be strong, must be resolute and be ready to counteract, and resist, their ruthless colonisation.
Time to fight back, time take our own decisions, and that I believe we will now do.
I honestly cannot see a frictionless end to this union I hope and pray the friction remains political and never descends into violence but knowing perfidious albion as we do we can’t rule it out, it’s all or nothing now, We are facing a existential threat and one day in the not too distant future we may have to ask ourselves “Is Scotland worth fighting for, shedding blood for or even dying for” , For me the answer is Yes because if we’re not prepared to fight we don’t deserve to be a nation, let’s hope it doesn’t come to that
