Reacting to the launch by the Scottish Government of the first paper in a series of “Building a New Scotland” papers setting out the case for independence ALBA Depute Leader Kenny MacAskill MP said:
“ Scotland’s right to decide is the key fundamental principle which must determine the democratic governance of Scotland. It is for the Scottish people and only the Scottish people to decide whether they become an Independent country.
“ The Yes movement can and will unite to offer a credible alternative to the sleaze and corruption of Westminster encapsulated by the current occupant of Downing Street.
“ It is the duty of the Scottish Government to implement its mandate, renewed in 2021, for a second independence referendum. In doing so it will have the support of the whole Yes movement. It is now for the Scottish Government to set out both the timetable and the means by which it will deliver an independence referendum by the end of 2023 with or without a Section 30 Order being granted by Westminster.
“A Scottish Constitutional Convention comprised of MSPs, MPs, council leaders and civic Scotland could play a vital role in asserting the democratic right of the people of Scotland to decide their own future. This is particularly the case if Johnson and his cohorts continue to reject Scotland’s democratic rights and can become both the basis and legitimacy for future action.
“ The 2014 case for the Union no longer stands. It is right that people in Scotland be asked once again whether they want Independence because the strong UK economy within Europe which we were promised does not exist.
“ Independence is the only way we can fully recover from Covid, use our massive energy resources for the benefit of our people, address the inequalities of wealth in Scotland, and rejoin the European family of nations.
“ Independence is the best future for Scotland and we need to get on and deliver it as a matter of urgency.”

The FM has made the point yesterday that a section 30 is the quickest route for both sides to agree to Referendum and if the UKG isn’t wanting to grant a S30, then fair enough.
She made the point that in a couple of weeks she would set out a lawful route in which a referendum would be held.
The FM was given the UKG the option to agree to a S30 and to be part of the process in which a referendum would be held.
I would presume she’ll use the claim of right and deny the UKG any part in that referendum if they don’t agree to a S30.
I can’t wait to see what the SG intends to do, I was suprised with the amount of little detail on the lawful route to a referendum.
After being criticised by the Presiding Officer for announcing this to the press and not firstly to parliament, this was the response –
“Defending the Scottish Government’s decision to make the announcement to the press as opposed to Holyrood, parliamentary business minister George Adam said the paper makes “no significant policy commitments or announcements regarding our proposals for an independent Scotland”.
Thanks for confirming it was all flim flam George, we suspected as much.
Look out, folks! In 1998 the Law Society of Scotland appointed a Case Manager to check out Sturgeon’s behaviour as a solicitor. Result? “The complaint in this case has been identified as professional misconduct by breach of code of conduct and conduct unbecoming to a solicitor.”
So Sturgeon left the legal profession……… and became a politician.
The Case Manager is now a Sheriff.

I note the Stureonistas aren’t happy with his words & they’re all claiming he is being divisive. He EXPRESSLY SAYS: ‘The Yes movement can and will unite to offer a credible alternative to the sleaze and corruption of Westminster encapsulated by the current occupant of Downing Street.’ I can’t for the life of me, understand what they’re talking about, in that ALBA won’t unite & is being divisive. Some of them even calling him & other ALBA people unionists. It is THEIRS & THEIR STANCE ALONE that is the Indy movement’s problem! They need to sort this if they truly want Independence!
SNP/STURGEON/STURGEONISTAS need to own the division they’re causing.
