Through A Scottish Prism 23/07/23

FROM NOON SUNDAY.

The Prism crew gathered in Coatbridge this weekend to celebrate Phil Boswell’s birthday and record our weekly thoughts on the week in Scottish politics.

It was a swell party as they say, however when we reassembled the following day for Through A Scottish Prism we were a man down! The birthday boy failed to trap. We will make him do a double shift next week 😜😜👍

Eva Comrie, Yvonne (Shirley Temple) Ridley and Lloyd Quinan joined me as we give our opinions on the week. The first item up was resignation number eight in the SNP MP ranks. For a party that is trying to tell us independence is imminent, if we just continue to give them another mandate, this seems strange. If independence is truly this close why would any independence minded MP resign and miss this historical event?

We also discuss the rumours circulating that the SNP is contemplating expelling Angus Brendan Macneil from the party. Lesson number 10 in shooting ones own foot!

Fergus Ewing and his threat to withdraw his support from the Scottish Government if they fail to dual the A9. Màiri McAllan’s explanation on this infrastructure plan also receives the attention of the panel.

Holyrood may be closed for summer however, the drama and self-harm continues!

Westminster is still providing us with plenty of ammunition to advance the cause of independence. Sir Keir Starmer has now been renamed Sir Kid Starver after he once more flip flops on a Labour pledge. This time it is on the two child cap or as it is better known the ‘Rape Clause.’ It seems Sir Keir’s inner Tory has been activated the bearer we get to the General Election and children in poverty are of no interest to the so-called party of the workers and underprivileged!

Pleasing the right wing press barons and appeasing the City of London spivs is Labour’s raison d’etre these days, not defending the workers and poor!

This appalling policy is endorsed by the Shadow Chancellor Rachael Reeves who insults the entire nation by herself using a Tory tactic of suggesting running a nation’s economy is like running a household budget by telling us there is no money left to do anything to alleviate this and all the other Tory austerity measures.

If you can just print money to bail out the bankers for £ Billions or give King Charles a 45% pay rise while renewing Trident and funding the US proxy war in Ukraine you can surely find money to lift kids out of poverty? It is all about choices and priorities!

Three by-elections in England the Tories hold one, the Liberals take one as does the Labour Party. As one of our panellists notes the Tory vote did not go to the other neoliberal English imperialist parties, they just stayed at home resulting in Tory losses and a very much reduced majority in the seat they managed to hold. SNP pay heed this is exactly what fate awaits you if you fail to embrace Scotland United for the UK GE in 2024!

The Labour victor at Selby and Ainsty in Yorkshire, Keith Mather is a 25 year old privately educated, Oxford University, history and politics graduate. He was also an intern for Wes Streeting MP. His only other real world exposure was a short stint as a public affairs adviser at the Confederation of British Industry. In his post election interview he quickly established that his views are more Tory than the Tory he replaced. A true Starmerite!

As the UK Government hands out a £1.6 billion untendered contract for floating barges to house immigrants, we ask what will it take before Scottish Unionists waken up to the reality that the UK is a failed state? Will it be that or perhaps that 172 people every day in England are being evicted? Coming to Scotland too if the independence vote stays at home next year!

We discuss the creature that wants to be the first trans ‘woman’ to have a cervix implant, so he can become pregnant and abort a baby. Remember it is not a mental health issue! It is all about feelings and being nice!

Sadly, it was only after recording the show that we received the sad news that JJ of Webcomradio fame had passed away after a short illness. I personally am truly upset to hear of John’s passing. He was instrumental in helping me set up this blogsite and encouraged me into podcasting. He is the voice over in our opening and closing credits to the show. Today and I would imagine for sometime to come every time I hear John’s “Everything we say,and everything we do is viewed Through A Scottish Prism” I will tear up! Another taken from us too soon and another Scottish patriot that went to his grave before seeing independence. Shame on those that have delayed our salvation from this accursed union! RIP buddy!

All this and much more on your favourite political review show.

  • The SNP/Greens are symptomatic of how much middle-class people have made a coup across the board. That young man, in England, is yet another example. I shook my head in despair at Mr Tickell’s piece in The National today. When Thatcher took office, young wide boys flocked into the financial sector and brought the house down eventually. Without life experience and having had your synapses actually link up, you are unfit for office; Pitt the Youngers are very much in short supply; and youth is naturally totalitarian in inclination, as we know from Stalin’s Komsomol, Pol Pot’s young murderers, the Hitler Youth (many morphing into the SS), Mao’s Red Guard, etc., so any progression to power has to be incremental, not sudden through virtue of being a child.

The working-class people of Scotland are not stupid: they know they are being conned by all the parties on poverty levels, removal of money from the economy by tax dodgers, they know that middle-class wide boys are not the answer to our problems. Labour may well win the GE next year, but I’m not convinced on the by-election showings. Women have a large part of the vote, and 16-year-olds will not have the vote. The whole ‘trans’ issue – almost no dent made in woking-class areas – will eventually undermine everything because unreality is unsustainable. Apparently, Glasgow City Council has decided in its ‘wisdom’ (aka stupidity and gross negligence) to ensure that the ‘trans’ issue is introduced in all schools in its area. That Gomersall person was interviewed this morning and wittered o about toilets. These people have no self-reflection, but also suffer a massive lack of awareness of others, and this is the type of undeveloped eejit that Mr Tickell would have us vote for in his utopia.

When you are 16, you think you know everything; when you are 60, you realize that you actually knew diddly squat, and had to learn along the way. We are going to have a generation of chimera people in the near future who have either chosen to ruin themselves or who have been pushed into acceptance of a lie by others. Either way, a whole lot of very resentful and angry people they will be, because ‘we’ affirmed this ordure. Yes, I think Sinn Fein are going to collapse, as the SNP will, over this one issue because it has been chosen specifically to do just that right across the political spectrum. The Tories might well be the only party left that is not pushing this bilge water, but it is not not pushing it either, and awaits the eventually implosion in the SNP, the Greens, Labour, the Lib Dems, Sinn Fein, et al.

Scotland United is the only option, but even here, a decision has to be made as to how we move forward with independence. Saying this is what we need, but not actually doing anything about how we bring about a confrontation with Westminster means that we are going nowhere until we come to that decision. I have said it before and will say it again: how was the Union formed?; if this was how it was formed, this is how we bring it down. If we do not want the Union, we kind of have to say we do not want the Union by doing that which will repudiate the Union.
