In the annals of political history, the rise and fall of governments often mirror each other, despite their apparent differences in ideology and geography. Such is the case with the Scottish National Party (SNP) Government and the English/UK Tory Government.Two entities that have seemingly lost touch with their core support bases and are mired in allegations of corruption and mismanagement. This blog delves into the striking parallels between these two administrations, examining their prolonged stay in power, detachment from their constituents, policy missteps, and the consequences thereof.

Both the SNP and the English/UK Tory Government have overstayed their welcome in the eyes of many voters.This is leading to a palpable sense of disenchantment among their traditional supporters. Years in power have eroded their once strong connections with their bases, as they prioritise policies that cater to special interests over the needs of the people they were elected to serve. This disconnect has fostered a growing perception of corruption within both administrations, with scandals ranging from missing funds (£633,000 ringfenced.) to dubious contracts (covid app) tarnishing their reputations.

The erosion of public trust has manifested in declining poll numbers for both parties, as disillusioned voters seek alternatives. In England, the political landscape has become increasingly polarised, with the traditional dichotomy between the Tories and Labour blurring, and the emergence of far-right alternatives gaining traction among certain segments of the electorate.The Reform Party particularly appealing to the extreme right-wing, blood and soil type Anglos.

In Scotland, the situation is equally complex, with the SNP facing challenges from other independence parties but failing to inspire confidence among pro-independence voters due to its mishandling of key issues such as independence and promoting gender politics instead.

Perhaps the most glaring similarity between these two governments is their refusal to acknowledge or rectify the policies that have contributed to their dwindling popularity. In the case of the English/UK Tory Government, the disastrous consequences of Brexit loom large, yet politicians across the spectrum remain unwilling to confront the reality of its economic and social impact. Instead, they deflect blame onto scapegoats ranging from lazy workers pay demands to immigrants, while steadfastly refusing to consider the possibility of rejoining the Single Market to mitigate the damage.

That policy and the Anglo desire to pretend to itself it is still some kind of global power by aligning itself with the horrific US policies in Ukraine and Palestine. The 18,000 sanctions that have been imposed on Russia were supposed to bring Russia to its knees, financially and politically resulting in regime change. Instead, it seems these sanctions will bring about regime change in several European/NATO regimes!

What in reality has happened is the exact opposite. Russia has the fastest growing economy in Europe. Putin has just won a huge election victory, and his position is assured for the next several years. The economy of Russia has never been stronger and thanks to the BRICS and global south countries only blue skies feature in the Russian economic future. Contrast and compare with the financial doom and gloom in Western Europe!

Meanwhile, because of these two horrific US proxy wars Biden is facing a massive defeat in upcoming US Presidential election. Sunak in UK, Macron in France, Scholz in Germany are all despised by their electorate and all are likely to meet humiliating ballot box defeat as soon as they face their electorate. All at present have record breaking negative ratings in their respective nations.

In the nations that oppose the sanctions and the proxy war itself the exact opposite is happening. For example Robert Fico in Slovakia recently won a huge election victory condemning the European/NATO consensus on US proxy war/sanctions. Orban in Hungary is the only sitting leader that remains popular with his voters as he too opposes the US proxy war and the sanctions. His re-election seems assured.

Despite all this evidence the blinkered politicians and parties refuse to acknowledge or change direction. Their fates are sealed by their inability to change direction or admit mistakes!

The SNP’s abandonment of its core mission of Scottish independence in favour of divisive woke and gender politics has alienated vast swathes of its supporters, particularly women. Despite clear evidence of waning public support, the party leaderships remain obstinate in their refusals to acknowledge the detrimental effects of their policies, opting instead to double down on their increasingly unpopular agendas.

Today John Swinney will have a coronation not a contest. He has been put in place by the party movers and shakers to ensure continuity, not embark upon change. No mea culpa, no change of direction, steady as she goes right on to the political rocks and oblivion! Viva Woke! Viva Devomax! Wheesht about Indy!

In both cases on both sides of the border, the consequences of this obstinacy are dire. The SNP’s electoral prospects are in freefall, with the once-mighty party now trailing behind its rivals in voting intentions for the first time in 20 years! Likewise, the English Tory Government’s refusal to reckon with the fallout of Brexit threatens to plunge the country into economic turmoil and Labour Government for years to come.

Yet amidst the gloom, there remains a glimmer of hope,in Scotland anyway! The resilience of the Scottish independence movement, despite its current setbacks, suggests that the cause will endure, albeit perhaps under different leadership. Likewise, the eventual demise of the woke agenda in Scottish politics may pave the way for a return to more pragmatic and inclusive governance.

In conclusion, the parallels between the SNP Government and the English/UK Tory Government serve as a cautionary tale of the perils of unchecked power and hubris. Both administrations have squandered the trust of their constituents through their refusal to acknowledge their mistakes and adapt to changing realities.
