Scotland- Independence Nothing Less.

This week John Swinney had what can only be called a car crash television interview with STV’s Colin Mackay. In this, John was sticking to his mantra of only a massive SNP victory at the upcoming Holyrood election next May will result in independence. He said his tactic of SNP 1-2 is the only way to secure Scottish independence. This is, of course, untrue!

He once more rejected any suggestion of a unified approach of the entire independence movement to obtain self-determination. He reverted back to “Well it worked in 2011.” He didn’t of course, mention that it was Alex Salmond that was in charge of the government at that time, nor that the preceding 4 years had seen a competent, radical governance of our nation A government that had given our people confidence in their own abilities to become self sufficient. The polar opposite of the governance for the past 11 years by the SNP!

He also failed to mention that Alex had himself called 2011 a freak result that was unlikely ever to be repeated. He swatted aside Colin’s comment that even Nicola Sturgeon had said an outright single-party victory was highly improbable. It seems John knows better than everyone else!

He also failed to tell us exactly how he intends to get any English Prime Minister to ever again agree to a Section 30 referendum. He also conveniently forgot to tell us his cunning plan to overthrow the Supreme Court ruling that Sturgeon brought upon us over any independence referendum.

He dismissed the pleading for unity of action, not just from the entire movement but also from 41 of his own branches! Those branches, having seen their motion on an independence strategy rejected by the Conference Committee, have now submitted an amendment to John’s motion on independence strategy.

In September we will know if this amendment is accepted. The Prism panel of Lloyd Quinan, Eva Comrie Allan Petrie and Phil Boswell discussed in depth this topic in the podcast.

Back in the real world, John’s strategy took a bit of a beating this week when the Barrhead, Liboside & Uplawmoor by-election result was announced. The SNP vote was down 8.3% to 25.1%, while Labour’s vote rose by 21.7% to 41.9%.

This result not only shows that the SNP are 50% off of a majority vote at next year’s election. The Labour Party that faces wipeout in England managed to trounce the SNP. If that doesn’t waken up the SNP leadership to the reality then nothing outside of their total removal will serve Scotland’s needs!

It seems the SNP watch Through A Scottish Prism, so there is some hope for them. One of their MSPs, Kevin Stewart this week introduced an attempt to remove the royal oath for those serving at Holyrood. Our regular viewers will know that our own Allan Petrie of Indy4Indy and Colette Walker of ISP have been working on this very topic for over a year now.

Indeed, our two independence stalwarts wrote to both Angus Robertson at Holyrood and Lyndsay Hoyle the speaker at Westminster, on this very topic. Allan on this podcast points out the difference in the approach from that of Kevin Stewart’s proposal. Judge for yourselves which you think is the most likely to succeed!

Other matters discussed included the nationalisation of Liberty Steel, England, and the fate of Liberty Steel at Port Talbot. When Westminster politicians and their tame media talk about anything being in the nation’s best interests, we all know which nation they are referring to and which nations are excluded when it comes to national interest!

All this and more on your favourite Scottish political podcast!

  • Its easy to prove John Swinney is a liar. The rebels should get Swinney to ask the UKG before the election if UKG will honor Swinney plan and guarantee a referendum if the SNP won a majority. This plan would put Swinney head on the chopping block. The rebels need to say that they will only support the plan if the UKG gives the guarantee before the election, and lets be honest we know they will not give consent to a section 30 order and this will destroy John Swinney plan.

  • I’m sorry but John Swinney is a clown, just another little Sturgeon clone like Humza, The SNP are a joke, they’re all British state actors, Swinney, Robertson, Macdonald all the ones at the top, all in the pocket of the British state, SNP will never deliver independence ever and will do anything to frustrate it. Its all about frustrate the electorate and sicken them so they don’t give a damn, its such an old political tactic. The section 30 is a waste of time, it is a British state tactic, a tactic the SNP will cling to as it guarantees the Status Quo, which is the same old nothing. Ride the gravy train, carrots anyone.

    • Waste of time giving the SNP your vote. Folks have done that. The SNP have had majority after majority and done nothing to progress independence these last ten years. In fact they have done much to obstruct independence.

Voting SNP for independence is an anathema. It is an anti independence vote. Swinney is just a paid state actor. Time they were gone.

  • SNP need to rid themselves of the detritus which has blocked our rightful route to Indy since 2014.

They need to show contriteness to the Scottish people, who have suffered at SNP’s hands, – as manipulated by corrupt English parties, and truly work WITH the newer vibrant Parties and constitutional expert groups, who are invigorating ordinary people and throwing a light to others in the World, empathetic to our rightful cause.

  • Everything Swinney is doing – and not doing – makes sense ONLY if understood as the actions/inactions of a saboteur .

He has never struck me as someone of high intelligence or self-awareness , but I just don’t believe he is so lacking in those qualities that he actually believes the utter idiocy that comes out of his mouth .

The question then is why is he doing so ?

Equally , why does he NEVER push-back or even mildly criticise anything the Brit State does in relation to Scotland , or generally ; too many examples to cite , but just one is Regional Energy Pricing , which , considering the vast amount of energy that is being extracted – plundered – from our country , would , if applied , at least compensate Scottish consumers for the theft of those resources – rather than , as now , the latter paying even more than their counterparts in England : the U.K itself paying the highest domestic charges in Europe

Not a peep from Swinney or any the rest of the Holyrood Wormery

I’ve long thought – as Phil referred to – the snP has been acting ” under instruction ” since at least 2015 and is now so thoroughly infiltrated/perverted as to be beyond salvation , or even reformation .

The only way to deal with such infestation is to burn it to the ground . Nothing less will suffice

  • Even if a section 30 were granted it would do no good. I have just moved back to my home town from a nice’ wee, once Yes majority voting village because it has been invaded by economic migrants from south of the border looking for cheap homes and all the benefits of not living in England. The latest enthusing about her pride in the Butcher’s Apron and how anyone who doesn’t like it is racist and by the way “Farage says some things that are right”. We need a better way. Hope there will be proper independence supporting candidates in my area or I will need to spoil my ballot yet again.

  • Emblazoned above the Court of Session building in Edinburgh is the huge gold coloured letters saying The Supreme Courts. Surprised nobody has picked up on this and what the possible meaning of having an English court amongst our Scottish Courts. After BB post today just wondering if others are aware of this?

  • The SNP’s policies and practices make sense if you understand that it has been captured by the British State since Alex Salmond resigned. The despoiling of the country, alienation of the Party from its principle of independence, and attack on the Yes Movement are consistent with a once national party being boarded by its enemies. Why wouldn’t the British State do this? They put agents in place at the highest level of the IRA.
