Scotland In Union Rage at Bruce video.

The pettiness of the British Unionists in Scotland is the worst kind of Scottish Cringe.

Responding to attacks on the ALBA campaign video featuring Scots Actor and Director Angus MacFadyen as Robert the Bruce, which in less than 24 hours has already been viewed 195,000 times on Twitter.

ALBA Party Leader and Former First Minister Alex Salmond said:

“Every member of the Tartan Army or Rugby enthusiast views Scotland’s victory at Bannockburn as a source of national pride. These attacks from our opponents on our campaign video show scant regard for the history of Scotland. People who decry a nation’s history will never address a nation’s future. If “Scotland in the Union” had been around in the early Fourteenth century they would have been advocating victory for the Plantagenets.

“Our video featuring one of Scotland’s finest actors and directors, Angus MacFadyen, who has himself played Robert the Bruce, twice, is a timely reminder that while his depiction is ever so slightly tongue in cheek it still makes a very serious point.

“As Angus has himself said: “It is the “sma folk” or people power who hold the key to Scotland’s future. That was fact in 1314. It is true in 2021.”

“By giving their List vote to ALBA to achieve an Independence Supermajority it is the people of Scotland who can once again win our freedom and send Boris Johnson as the new ‘Hammer of the Scots’ homewards to think again.”

  • It was amazing, how many BOT accounts I reported & blocked on that thread. Must have been about 7/8 dozen! And I was just in the mood to get rid of every single one of them.

There were also a few I recognised from SNP accounts and they reminded me of a time when these same people were absolutely jumping & waiting to see ‘Outlaw King’ on our screens. They were talking of nothing else for weeks! And when it finally aired, they tweeted & tweeted their favourite bits, all about the the history & their pride in a man who would not be subdued. And not so very long ago, these very people were writing emails in their hundreds to cinemas to get ‘Robert the Bruce’ released and shown in our local cinemas. They promised boycotts unless their voices were heard…

And here they were in today’s thread… embarrassed & cringing at the wee video made for a country that, for a 1,000 years, has fought for the right to make its own decisions & choices. EMBARRASSED that they & their friends were in Edinburgh Holyrood Park supporting Independence while an actor put a voice to a soliloquy that Robert the Bruce might have given, had he been there. They were CRINGING… because they couldn’t see that our past affects our future… And all this because Nikla told them that we were BAD because we support a party that pushes for independence. Ohhhh dear…. the puir wee scones….

I LOVE the video. And I don’t care who knows it! 😉
