Two days ago the SNP Scottish Government unveiled their Programme for Government for the year ahead. It was more notable for what wasn’t in the programme than what it is proposing to implement. Those of us who have been paying attention were not surprised to note that independence is not in the plans whereas GRA Reform is the showcased Bill scheduled for the year ahead.

This prompted a peaceful and well attended demonstration outside Holyrood by women concerned about their rights being eroded with this legislation. We all know that to date the SNP have allowed no debate on this contentious issue at Conference or in public.

During the recent election it was not once mentioned to the voting public. Nobody dared to make clear all the implications of allowing males to simply self-identity as females and enter women’s safe spaces. The Scottish public, in general, are unaware that after merely self-identifying men can demand to be recognised as biological females and enter women’s prisons, women’s sports, changing rooms, toilets, etc.

This is no accident, Nicola Sturgeon and her fellow promoters of GRA Reform know that if the mums, dads, grannies and grandpas of Scotland get wind of the true meaning of the bill, all hell will break loose. They have done everything possible to ensure no discussion, no publicity no knowledge seeps out into the general populace. This also means they have to demonise, threaten and bully anyone that opposes or might educate the general public as to their intention to rewrite biology. The ladies that demonstrated outside Holyrood were there to raise awareness of this Stonewall driven plan.That is why they were attacked and abused by the Sturgeon loyalists.

As is the custom when the government introduces its programme for the year ahead, there is a debate in Holyrood on the matters in hand. As is customary irrespective of the plan, the opposition will greet it with dismay, disappointment and find anything to disagree. However, on this occasion the opposition was given an open goal by the SNP with GRA Reform.

Murdo Fraser for the Tories made reference to the large peaceful demonstration outside the Parliament he had also attended, it was by women wishing to protect their rights. This prompted the feminist to her fingertips First Minister to shout out,’Shame on you!’ for daring to have stood with these peaceful women exacting their democratic rights. Not only does Sturgeon want their biological rights, she also wants their democratic rights too it seems.

This was the clearest sign yet of the chasm that exists between women and the proposed GRA legislation this SNP Government intends to push through at Holyrood. Anyone opposing is bad, shameful, no debate allowed, no open discussion.

Sturgeon thinks it wrong for anyone to stand with the hundreds of women that gathered outside Holyrood to demand the SNP-Green government protects their sex-based rights ahead of these controversial gender reforms.

Those of us who have been following this know first hand the abuse that is directed towards anyone that dares to question the GRA Reform proposals. The bullying, mysoginy and downright cruelty of Sturgeon and her cohorts brings nothing but shame to Scotland.

Personally I find it shameful that it is the British Tories in Scotland that are the only ones at Holyrood defending Women’s Rights. I am angered that Sturgeon and her Twittler Yoof have started an all out war on women’s hard fought for rights. I am enraged that Sturgeon has sidelined Scottish Independence in favour of this gender nonsense. That she has put 0.04% of the population ahead of 99.96% is not bravery or equality it is rank stupidity. She has split the YES Movement, lost two-thirds of the SNP membership and set back Scottish independence by possibly decades.

While Sturgeon focuses on allowing men into women’s safe spaces, It is estimated that is 19% of the entire population (1.03 million people each year) are living in relative poverty after housing costs in 2017-20. Before housing costs, 17% of the population (910,000 people) are living in poverty. When so many of our nation are in distress, Sturgeon prioritises 0.04% who are males wanting to live as females as opposed to dragging people out of poverty. Children, pensioners, ordinary decent law, abiding citizens of Scotland are going to bed hungry tonight. Many do not know if they will make next month’s rent or mortgage payment. They sit in fear of the next electricity bill. In a matter of days, they could not only be hungry but might be sitting in the dark with no heating or lighting.

As the rich grow richer and the gap with the poorest grows Nicola Sturgeon prioritises men in frocks over children in need. Allowing four-year olds to change their gender seems more important to Nicola Sturgeon than lifting the four-year olds out of poverty. Replacing the kilt at weddings for men with cocktail dresses seems a better idea to the SNP than raising the saltire over Scotland and lowering the Union flag.

It is when your desires, wishes lifestyle choices impact on other people’s rights is when we will disagree and fight you. GRA Reform is one of those instances when I believe we need to fight to protect our female’s rights.

The SNP has made their position clear, Gender Politics is their raison d’etre, not Independence, it is a side issue to them.That is why, I and many thousands of others have now chosen to support The Alba Party. Their main aims are Independence and dragging our nations most vulnerable out of poverty. You all have to choose for yourselves, more independence carrots or independence actions. Whatever you choose, nobody has a right to bully you or silence you or to shout, ‘Shame on you’ for holding your beliefs. Just as nobody has the justification to deny you your rights or give them away to satisfy others.

With the effects of Brexit and Covid beginning to take their toll on society this government really needs to refocus on the things that impact people’s daily lives. As we approach winter and the supply chain reaches breaking point our government should be doing all it can to protect the 99.96%, not appease the 0.04%. Democracy is about the majority. Poverty, hunger and cold kill, being allowed to wear a dress or lipstick can wait, gaining independence and eradication of poverty must be our aims.
