Several years before the recent General Election Social media was full of people saying, ” We must get rid of the Tories!” I would reply to such posts with, ‘And replace them with who exactly?’ Most wouldn’t respond because they themselves knew, although they couldn’t admit it that supplanting Tories with Labour is really no change at all.
When Labour wannabes were tweeting the latest soundbite from the Spads at London HQ about ‘Change’ I would ask, ‘what change?’ No reply ever of course, was received because they know the gullible proletariat respond to slogans, not details. Only the awkward squad like me ever question the BS. So they never respond or give detail that means they have plausible deniability later when it all goes breasts up!
Now we are three weeks into the new Labour Government and what have we discovered? Well much as foretold by myself and others, nothing is changing, in reality it is just different levels of right-wing neoliberalism and extreme capitalism. We refer to them as Labour but in reality they are indistinguishable from the English Tories.Both work exclusively for the benefit of England and the South East and City of London in particular!
The bad news is that it won’t get any better folks. Your lives are not going to be dramatically changed for the better by this lot of charlatans. In these three short weeks Labour has found money to send £3 billion to Kiev to kill pensioners and other innocents. Sent undisclosed monies and weapons to Israel to slaughter pensioners, babies, mothers fathers. They will keep the promise to spend £11 billion in overseas climate aid.We can afford all of that apparently.

They said they couldn’t let down the Israelis, Ukrainians or other foreign nationals. Much easier to let down UK pensioners and the UK poor. They know our corrupt media will cover for them and the paucity of our governance. There is a honeymoon period just now where our oligarch owned media will promote and protect this new Labour Government. For the next few weeks at least the media will herald a renewal of English/ British democracy. That will continue until the oligarchs and city spivs either get bored or see a threat to their personal wealth and power.
The transfer of the states wealth from the ordinary citizens to the elite and corporations will continue unabated despite the ‘change’ of government. The austerity Labour promised wouldn’t happen if we elected them is going to continue and the worrying part is it is likely to get more severe than it was under the Real Tories!
The good news being that while this Government cannot remove the Two Child Rape Clause or the Bedroom Tax the nation can afford to give the English King a £45 million tax free wage increase! I bet that makes you feel so much better!
Another sweetener is while we are to believe there is a £22 billion black hole we do have enough to increase spending on the military by £ billions each year.There is always money for bombs, there is just never enough money for bairns! It’s the capitalist way.
Why get rid if the official Blue Tories just to replace them with Red ones instead? The establishment via its owned corrupt media are responsible for this changing of the guard. It is to make the British public believe that they make a difference with their X every five years. The Westminster Punch and Judy charade will continue. For the next four years, Labour will blame every ill on the Tories in England and the SNP in Scotland.Accepting responsibility or admitting wrong doing is not in the British political lexicon. Blaming everything and everyone else except the corrupt system works everytime! The public are too busy surviving to engage their critical thinking and realise it is all a giant con! There is an exclusive group that no matter which government is in ‘power’ they are protected and enriched.If you want to know if you are in this grouping just go and look at your last bank statement.
The public will be expected to pull that belt in by a few more notches while the bank accounts and wealth of the elite expand tenfold.Poverty will expand until it starts to engulf the middle classes. Then and only then will our corrupt media start the drip feed of Labour bad, Tories good, we need change until enough people are convinced that if they just put in a new neoliberal business party everything will get better.
Spoiler, it never has and never will get any better under the corrupt undemocratic British system of governance. We either need to radically change the present form of English/British governance or secede from the Union. The latter,well, there is another whole load of complications that need rectified before that is likely.

The English parliament will never change . It is Scotland that has to. The Irish way from 1918 to 20 is our only route with the right party either ISP or ALBA or both.
Sadly, as the Scottish public have shown neither ISP or Alba are the answer. After 4 years they are not even commanding 2% in elections.We need an alternative.

The pantomime continues. Owned and run by a very corrupt UK Establishment. The latest characters whom almost 80% of the electorate never voted for take to the stage. Latest act in the “Change” show is to cut the pensioner’s winter fuel allowance. It should be obvious by now that obscene inequality will grow under these overpaid political chancers who will continue to protect the greedy few and avoid any form of wealth equality and fairness in our increasingly fragmented society.
We KNOW that Scotland needs to remove itself from this unequal union. We KNOW Scotland needs to be independence. BUT there is NO party with the ability to govern an independent Scotland.
There are suffient people of the right calibre to form that government but there is zero cohesion in the independence movement.
Until this is addressed &Scotland will remain under the jackboots of whatever English party has a majority in WM, being trodden further and further into the mire.
Nothing will change in Scotland regarding the union until a party emerges which has leaders willing to make the necessary sacrifices for the cause of independence: abstentionism [I know ISP advocates this], the breaking of Westminster’s anti-Scottish laws and the willingness if necessary to go to jail as political martyrs etc. That alone won’t automatically bring about independence but it will at least show the people of Scotland that someone or some party is serious about independence and is therefore worthy of radical support.
Currently the SNP and Alba leaderships are unwilling to take any kind of radical action. Many pro independence voters were right to reject these parties last month. Why continue to support the likes of SNP and Alba if these parties show no real desire for independence? Far better to reject the whole Westminster process by boycotting it. If the SNP leadership continues to behave like political cowards many pro independence voters will, rightly or wrongly, also boycott the 2026 Holyrood election.
I would suggest Doug the voters also rejected ISP their vote was miniscule in two seats.
We need new thinking
But the people didn’t boycott it, did they. They voted for a right wing, unionist party that was quite upfront in England but told lies to Scottish voters. People in Scotland are so obscured from reality by the British media that they believe the lies of the supposedly Scottish Labour Party. Online content is seen by only a handful of people. The only way to get the message out is constant leafleting with information about the reality of our position in the Union.
Hopefully the SNP will be plunged into a state of flux soon and will be looking for a way of getting themselves out of the hole they have dug for themselves AND back in the bussiness of trying to get Scotland out of the hole they flung us in, when their Leaders stopped being Scottish and became an allience of One Worlders, North Britons and Europeans – but it would be unwise to hold our breath in anticipation.
I would suggest that all the independence supporting groups hold a convension, with view to creating an umbrella organisation to contest the Regional List part of the Holyrood Election.
The message of this organisation should be: The United Kingdom has failed Scotland and Political Parties with compeating partisan objectives and Carreer Politicians with selfish agendas have always and will always continue to fail us.
The target vote we should be aiming at are the 750,000 dissilusioned YES voters who could not bring themselves to even vote at the GE, the dissenfranchised “have nots” who in the main don’t bother voting, those who voted Alba, whatever portion of the SNP2 vote who feel that they were conned last time round and whatever portion of the Labour vote who realise that they were conned when they voted for “Change”
If our propaganda is restricted to highlighting how the UK has worked to the detrement of the people of Scotland and how an Independent Scotland would produce a written constitution to protect the people from exploitation and utilise our resourses and skills for the purposes of abolishing poverty and encouraging the development of home-grown enterprises as opposed to enriching foriegn multi-nationals and speculators.
The message need not nessisarilly be overly hostile to the small c conservatives who make up a substantial portion of the electorate and can’t be too impressed with the British alternatives. Simmilarly it may be possible if we were to gain momentum to convince the SNP that by not repeating their 1&2 trick, they will avoid being denounced as a bunch of self-seeking leeches and impostors and might even hitch a ride on the bandwaggon back to Bute House.
I think it would be important to make it clear that none of our candidates would accept a ministerial post in any coalition Government as their purose is to procure an Independent Government for Scotland and a Constitution that would protect “the man in the street” from the the damage that Wealthy Corperations,(bought and paid for)Party machines, and elected charlatans can inflict on the people.
If 55% was enough to keep Scotland British 55% is enough to make Scotland Scottish.
A united independence movement CAN make that happen in 2026. The SNP, Alba, I for I, ISP etc all fighting their own corners cannot. If we don’t manage to pull together, we would be as well spoiling our ballot papers.
I agree with most of this but would caution that the present leadership of the SNP will never sort itself out. Yes, spoil your ballot paper but make sure you write ” independence “ on the paper

Like anything that’s outlived its usefulness, in this case, the traditional way of doing politics, the problem must be acknowledged and the old system and thinking behind it replaced. That, is precisely why we have SALVO/LIBERATION. Some might find our programme overly ambitious, but that’s got to trump having no ambition at all and sticking with the old conservatively-minded ways that have served to consistently defeat us.
