I have taken great pleasure over the years in exposing the paucity of Unionists and their ‘case for the union.’ I know many others have deployed my question, Name three things that can only be achieved by the British Union that cannot be achieved by an independent Scotland. (You can substitute Scotland for Wales or a United Ireland.) Unionist party leaders, MSPs, MPs and supporters have all failed to ever come up with a credible answer to this simple question. It usually results in me receiving abuse and a blocking by many. Some of the answers to the question are hilarious. “An independent Scotland won’t have any Barnet consequentials!” 🙄🙄 “You will have no currency.” No Eastenders, No Dr Who, and other assorted stupid answers ensue.

They always answer with what they perceive Scotland cannot do without Mother England. These people are so stupid and so full of bile they do not actually answer the question posed. What can only be achieved by the British Union. 

The answer is really not much you could say you will not have a permanent seat on the Security Council at the United Nations. That is probably true however the question is this, why would we want one? Scotland never has had or ever likely to have global aggressive or policing desires. What does the present seat bring as way of benefits to the people of the British Union? Again I would suggest nothing. It makes Little Englanders feel important nothing else, certainly nothing tangible.It most certainly does not put food on the table.

You could also say, “You won’t have any weapons of mass destruction.” No shit, Sherlock!

Neither of these two British/English vanity matters hold much, if any value to Scots.

After that I would suggest you will struggle to think of anything, an independent Scotland couldn’t achieve. The nonsense that we could not have our own currency or central bank is beyond laughable. That we could not be members of EFTA, EU, United Nations just plain ridiculous. That we would not be able to have our own defence forces is beyond laughable. Today 28% of the entire British Army is Scots. Norway, a nation of comparable size and wealth of Scotland, has more surface ships and a larger navy than UK. The bottom line is simply this, the British Union has nothing unique or of value to offer Scotland.

I suggest we could handle our finances, foreign and domestic policy far better than England’s Parliament has ever managed Scotland’s needs. We would prioritise, Scotland and Scots, New and indigenous. If you can ever come up with that magic ‘Case for the Union’ we would all love to hear it. I only have ever wanted what is best for Scotland. If they ever did arrive at a positive case for the Union, I would listen to it, if it was the best option for Scotland, I might even back it.

What invariably happens is when you try to have this discussion with Unionists it quickly becomes nasty.Faced with the paucity of the Union they resort to abuse and lying. Cybernat they shout, you are bullying me. You are a moron, a socialist fool, socialism doesn’t work, you are too weak, too stupid, too poor.You lost the referendum, get over it. Then they either block you or slink off to report your account for bullying.

This has always been the standard response of Unionists when challenged to justify their union and its benefits for the Scottish people.

Yesterday I posed a similar question to the SNP, Nicola Sturgeon SNP.

It was a similar reaction that I get from Unionists. Either no reply or abuse and blocking. I really did try to think of anything that could be used to answer that question and just like a Positive Case for the Union. There is no Positive Case for Sturgeon or the SNP. There is no Security seat at the UN or WMD equivalent. There is nothing to report.

Since Sturgeon became leader in November 2014 neither Conference or NEC has debated or discussed routes or method to Independence. None of the policy deficiencies highlighted in 2014 Referendum have been addressed. There has been no independence campaigning or preparation. In the heady days post Brexit, when the polls were showing up to 58% of Scots in favour of independence, the Nicola fan club highlighted this as Nicola’s achievement. As soon as the numbers slipped back to 2014 levels the same devotees blamed, Pro Independence bloggers, Alex Salmond, ISP, Alba Party and now both AUOB and Now Scotland are to blame, never Nicola and never the inaction of the SNP.

It came as no surprise to me the reaction of the SNP loyal. It is a carbon copy of the Unionists when trying to defend the indefensible union. They cannot argue with irrefutable facts of progress, so abuse, accusations and bullying are their weapons of choice. Only the SNP can bring us independence they cry, however when asked to name three things they cannot produce a single thing that has been done to progress independence in Sturgeon’s entire tenure.

When they couldn’t come up with three things, they resorted to name calling, Alex Salmond is bad, Alba only got 1.9 % of the vote, baad Indy bloggers. It is spookily reminiscent of Unionists trying to defend the Union.

Recently I have been banned for 30 days on Facebook. It was claimed I was posting transphobic comments because I expressed my delight that the cheat Gavin Hubbard failed to win a medal at weightlifting in Tokyo. Stu Campbell of Wings Over Scotland is heading for 100 Twitter account bans. His ‘crime’ he tells the truth. Lots of my fellow bloggers find themselves being blocked on alleged SNP Facebook Pages for simply telling the truth.

The truth is this, in 7 years, Nicola, Sturgeon has not done a single thing to advance the cause of independence. She has not put in place a single structure to move towards independence unless you think a second hand horsebox constitutes a positive move forward. She and her supporters have actively attacked anyone or any entity that tries to promote Independence.

7 years and 7 mandates for independence and we are no closer to seceding than we were on Friday, 19th September 2014. She has tried to imprison the only person that got us close to independence. She has overseen a regime that has bullied lied and gerrymandered party democracy in the SNP. Stood idly by as a pro indendence journalist was imprisoned for reporting the facts of a trial. Transparency has been replaced by transgender politics. Honesty and inclusiveness have been replaced by cliques and dishonesty.

The Union and Unionists are of no benefit or use to Scotland or its ambition to be an Independent nation. Sadly, Nicola Sturgeon and SNP are of no benefit or use to Scotland or its ambition to be an independent nation.

I would say to those who will automatically attack me for telling you the truth this, prove me wrong tell me three things Sturgeon and SNP have done to further that cause of Independence in the past seven years! You can temporarily lock me out of your Facebook sites, and twitter feeds but you will never silence me. The truth always finds a way to be heard.
