A Press Release from the Indian Council of Scotland.
The Indian Council of Scotland has expressed regrets that Nicola Sturgeon, the First Minister and her Scottish Government have shown a lack of humanity over the Ukrainian crisis. The Indian Council will now go alone with support of up to £1 Million pounds in helping those who are affected by the Ukrainian conflict.
The Indian Council of Scotland has secured sites around Scotland and Poland for up to 1,000 people coming/fleeing from Ukraine to stay in Scotland and Poland and has been in contact with the British/Foreign governments. Containers of clothing/necessary equipment are also being packed and emergency Food packs are scheduled in being delivered through the UK and Poland and other countries through our Network.
Neil LaL, Chairman and President of The Indian Council of Scotland has recently personally provided support of up to the value of £1 Million to this noble cause in supporting Woman, Children, Elderly who are fleeing Ukraine due to the Russian Invasion.
He stated, “We live in unprecedented and unfortunate times and we all must do what we can to help those who are suffering and especially women, children and the elderly. It is truly sad to see what is happening in Ukraine. No matter our Nationality/Religious/Cultural beliefs and background….We are all one family!”
We also are supporting up to 500 International students who were studying in Ukraine who have fled across the border into Poland in providing temporary accommodation/clothing and food packs. This is a big problem as many students who are studying in Ukraine are struggling to gain entry into Poland due to there immigration policy which is not acceptable as humanity and compassion is what is required. I am hopeful Poland will let these foreign students in.
A special thanks for our advisers and those who have supported us during this emergency crisis which also must be congratulated –
Councillor Chris McEleny of Alba Party, Local Businessman James Mortimer, Chairman Robert Elliot of The Unionist Club and Head of Policy Strategy David Griffiths, The BaL Krishan Sood Family in (Glasgow), Chairman of Glasgow Friends of Israel, Mr Sammy Stein and many others.
“A big thanks in particular must go to Councillor Chris McEleny of the Alba Party he has been very helpful in advising us with regards to some sites during these troubled times. Thanks Chris!’
It just shows that no matter your political views, our humanity wins as whether we are wanting Independence or staying in the Union. All these people have come together from all sides of the political spectrum in the name of humanity. Well done to everyone! This is a great team effort!
It is sad and unfortunate that this unity and humanity cannot be said about the current Scottish Government who we have contacted on numerous occasions. They have not even bothered to give us the courtesy of replying to us. All we have asked for was support to help those in need to date we gave gad no response from the Scottish Government.
Actions speak louder than words and once again it proves the Scottish Government led by Nicola Sturgeon MSP, The First Minister of Scotland has been found wanting. She certainly talks a good game, sadly her inaction does not match her words.
I am truly saddened and ashamed by the First Minister/Scottish Government’s lack of response and lack of support! This is not the Scotland that we want to see! We need a change as since the past 8 years Scotland is in a downward spiral!
This is a tremendous effort by a great number of decent human beings. This is humanitarian response in a time of crisis for the people of Ukraine. It is a great credit to the people of Scotland that so many people from different communities and political beliefs can unite in common cause to assist some Ukrainian people in their hour of need.
The Ukrainian Government and Ukrainian Refugee organisation have thanked The Indian Council of Scotland in this act of humanity humanity. We are delighted that in our own small way we were able to offer this assistance to the good people of Ukraine in this trying time for their nation.
Webcom Radio is Now Playing:
Well done all. ! Good show James and Robert.
Humza will have made sure that Nicola wasn’t going to help. They really can’t help holding grudges when challenged.
To all in the Indian Council of Scotland: THANK YOU so much for your decency, your humanity and your willingness to help people who are struggling so much in desperate and fearful times. Your Council has often been at the front, supplying support and practical help for people in crisis. You are a great example of humanity and Scotland is proud of what you are and what you do. THANK YOU. x
It would be a nicer world if we all had the humanity of the Indian council all credit to them.
Well done, once again, The Indian Council of Scotland. While others talk about humanity, you practice it.
Thank you Indian council of Scotland for the consideration of others suffering this war ,TBQH I am NOT surprised that the SG or SP have not responded to your plea , perhaps if you had identified as trans you may have had a response and some of the funding being generously given to the various woke organisations determining policy for all Scots may even have found its way to help with your worthy attempts at providing aid
Still , better for our First Minister to focus on forcing through reviled legislation opposed by the majority of citizens rather than concentrate on alleviating or reassuring Scots at the horrendous choices of feeding their children or keeping them warm in the wake of her generosity in giving away our resources to parasitical energy companies who are increasing energy bills despite profits increasing by 44%
The rights of people of Scotland, women and children or ethnic minorities is not on Scottish governments mind- women and childrens safety and dignity is not crucial to them – to keep our single sex safe spaces, it is more important to pander to what was known as in an era ago “paedophile information exchange” – P.I.E
On behalf of The Indian community in Scotland and everyone we thank Barrhead Boy for his continued support in making our views and opinions heard. We especially are grateful for the support we have received during this crisis in helping others in the name of Humanity.
It is wonderful everyone coming together from all sides of the political spectrum/religious
and cultural backgrounds in the name of humanity and compassion.
Thank You Barrhead Boy!
🙏
Don’t be swayed by these comments. WE the people of Scotland are behind Eukrain no matter their race some of the comments are a poor political snipe, how much I wonder have the people of India given in aid compared to those of the UK, size for size, note as a strong nationalist I say UK, one reason although at times we are treated as a lessor people by Westminster, in times of global conflict WE Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland have ALWAYS pulled together for the common good of all people 🇺🇦🏴🏴🏴🇮🇳
Except when we were invading them, colonising them, murdering them stealing their resourcesmtreatingbtgem like durt in their iwn nations selling them as slaves, yeah UK has been so benign over the eons!
Climb out of the past son, if I was to highlight Indian atrocities past and present you’d be shocked, right now I’m just back from a Ukranian fund raiser at our local harley Davidson dealership, this is attended by all denominations colours and creeds, the common bond been a brotherhood of support worldwide, we are in contact with fellow bikers worldwide, Ukraine, Russia, Poland, absolutely all in condemnation everywhere, at least Boy you are able to open your mouth without 15 years penal servitude.
Well do not come on here trying to talk up the beneficence of UK it is a false premise. The only nation in Europe asking Ukrainians for visas. The UK is a racist state and British Nationalists are some of the worst racists around as Brexit amplified..
Oh the SNP will not want to support anything that the UK gov has not given them permission for or anything that takes attention away from our self obsessed FM.
