Yesterday for me was one of the saddest days in my political life. A party that I had been a member of, campaigned for, stood for, raised funds for in over a 50 year time span sold out the women of Scotland. This abomination called GRA Reform has been Nicola Sturgeon’s main focus for a long time now. She abandoned Scottish Independence sometime ago in favour of Gender politics.
Despite pleas from many in her party that this was a divisive distraction and would destroy the SNP and the consensus of the YES Movement she carried on regardless anyway. Those that warned her have been proven correct. The problem is, Nicola Sturgeon cannot be advised, cannot be told, cannot be disobeyed, cannot ever be wrong about anything.
We should not be surprised. This is a woman who by her own admission was ‘inspired’ into politics by Margaret Thatcher. Like the auld witch herself Nicola is not one for turning. During the Judicial Review into the illegal persecution of the former First Minister, the Scottish government’s lawyers advised her they would lose the case and that it should be halted. Nicola said no and insisted they carry on with the flawed arguments. It was only when the legal team threatened to resign so threadbare was the government arguments that reluctantly she agreed to abandon the court case.
Judge Lord Pentland subsequently said that the government’s actions had been “unlawful in respect that they were procedurally unfair” and had been “tainted with apparent bias”. Despite this humiliating condemnation from the highest court in the land, Nicola Sturgeon would not/could not concede she was wrong. She wouldn’t/couldn’t accept the verdict and she then instructed Leslie Evans to involve the police and go for a criminal case.
This wake up call from the top legal brains in Scotland did not bring any sense to Nicola’s vindictive obsession with Alex Salmond. By coincidence in the following days, a leak from The First Ministers office resulted in Liz Lloyd’s close friend in the Daily Record, David Clegg anonymously 😏 receiving a dossier of the plan to prosecute Alex Salmond over a load of salacious made up charges and accusations.
Even after a jury including 9 women found all the charges untrue. Mr Salmond left the court an innocent man cleared of all the fabrications against him. Sturgeon could not accept the judgement. Ever since she has continued to accuse and smear Alex Salmond. It has been shocking to watch her spite and malice against the man who actually made her political career possible.
She has shown the same pig headedness over the now much discredited, Section 30 Gold Standard Referendum. She has had numerous refusals from several English Prime Ministers, yet she keeps insisting ‘one more mandate.’ Many people have advised her that no English Imperial Prime Minister will ever again agree to a Scottish Independence Referendum and that she should investigate other alternative ways to independence. She just won’t listen to the reasoning behind this sage advice. As always, she knows better than everyone else! In her own mind I am sure she truly believes that Johnson will listen to her. It is really quite tragic and sad.
She won’t even allow her Party to debate or discuss any other option on attaining independence. She knows best and will not tolerate anyone else’s opinion. Everybody is wrong, only Nicola is right. Mark my words before the Local Authority Elections are over Sturgeon will be asking you to send a message to Westminster,’one more mandate!’
She is deluded beyond belief! She gets away with all this because of two factors, spineless MSPs and MPs and a very lucrative gravy train for them! (with notable exceptions)
Similarly, with this GRA Bill she has been warned time after time that this would cause divisions and possibly split the entire movement, not just the party. As always, Nicola knows best and despite five new Independence Parties springing up, thousands of SNP resignations she just wouldn’t listen. When womens groups and individual women pleaded with her to listen to their concerns she swept them aside with her now famous ‘women’s concerns are not valid.’ That familiar pattern of Nicola Sturgeon is omnipotent and knows best.To hell with the every other opinion, do they know who amur?

Yesterday when this affront to womankind was laid before Holyrood we had the spectacle of Shona Robison humiliating herself with fabrications and downright untruths. Predatory men never pretend to be anything …… As I said in a tweet, I am not sure if Shona was just lying to herself because she knows that Nicola cannot be disobeyed or she believes her own nonsensical arguments and is happy to promote the lies of this Bill.
We have also had to hear that Trans Women are women! The reality, the science, the truth is, that can never be. They are males of the species that have chosen to live as female and good luck and happy life to them. However, they have not changed their XY chromosomes.Nothing in medical science can change that fact. Women have XX chromosomes,men XY. Those two realities are scientific, biological indisputable facts. No amount of insisting or tantrums or accusations of transphobia can change that, sex is biological and immutable!
Nobody I have discussed GRA Reform with has a single problem with anyone that wishes to transition from one sex to the other. Indeed everyone I have interacted with wishes them well and will defend their right to choose how they live.
Nobody wishes to see any minority harassed or lose rights. Likewise, no group should be granted extra rights that result in others losing rights. This is exactly what is happening with this ill thought out, badly drafted legislation.Women are losing their right to their safe spaces, toilets, prisons, refuges, sports all to satisfy a tiny, tiny portion of the population, under 1%. The 52% of the population that are female are to give up their hard fought rights to accommodate this male desire.
It is the Self-Identification portion of this Bill that is causing the understandable grief. The opponents to the Bill have expressed concerns that males can just declare themselves female and thereby gain access to all women’s protected rights and spaces. There is now no need for medical or psychological intervention. Just a ‘feeling’ like the opposite sex is to be deemed enough for that person to self-identify as another sex. It is wrong and it goes against not just accepted norms but scientific facts.
However, here is the problem, Nicola thinks differently so your concerns are not valid and will not be listened to, let alone acted upon. Just as she won’t let her party discuss alternatives to her Section 30 obsession, she will not listen to women’s concerns about their safety concerns. Meanwhile, her self-delusion is such that she refers to herself as a feminist to her fingertips! Quite, quite bizarre.
Nicola Sturgeon is a danger to women, a danger to the SNP and YES Movement and worst of all she is a danger and a roadblock to Scotland’s independence struggle. Yesterday’s farce at Holyrood confirmed that she and her party are totally detached from reality and the electorate. It is time to give her another wake up call. In May the ballot box is the weapon of choice.
‘ For Women Scotland’ and Murray, Blackburn Mackenzie Policy have been heroic in their efforts to reveal the dangers of this irrational ideology and have succeeded in overturning biology denying, ultra vires aspects of Sturgeon’s ‘Gender Representation on Public Boards’ Act.
However more is needed now. Against a juggernaut funded by our taxes, a strategy of mobilisation, greater public awareness and possibly tactics similar to Extinction Rebellion are needed.

I believe you are wrong here and that she knows fine well what she is doing. I extract some words Craig Murray wrote in a recent tweet:

She probably doesn’t even believe the TRA rhetoric. She launched this hugely divisive GRA initiative deliberately to sow dissension and bitterness within the SNP, to weaken the Party and distract it from its constitutional goal: independence. And she has succeeded.
She has no beliefs or goals except in maintaining her own power (and attaining an eventual comfy retirement perch within a globalist institution; candidates for such positions incidentally are always by international convention nominated by the PM or Prez of the state in question.) In my view she is bought & paid for by the British State and has been for years. That explains both the vicious attacks on AS and WM silence on the weaponising of prosecution and even alas judiciary in Scotland.

Well said. I agree fully with your analysis though here reason for turning could also be to do with something that British agents have uncovered about Murrell and their private lives. Was always a stupid decisions.to have a “so called” married couple controlling the SNP. They have reshaped it in their image.
I share your sadness – but mostly I feel anger. I was fooled by years by Scottish Labour who insisted my vote for them was the only way to keep the Tories out. Sturgeon uses the same mantra along with the carrot of independence. Betrayed twice and will find it impossible to trust a politician ever again.
Infamy, Infamy, they’ve got it in for me. You bet we have nicla, and hell hath no fury should see you buried at the polls. Let’s make sure the full might of womanhood rains down upon the SNP in May.
GRA is Nicolas Dead Cat distracting from all the other failures of policies. The problem is that this dead cat strips away the rights from 51% of the population.

I agree with Duncanio that one pre-condition must be that the details of the Salmond stitch-up must be made public. In that regard, I was heartened that Craig Murray says his legal team are confident that his affidavit (https://www.craigmurray.org.uk/archives/2022/03/schroedingers-evidence/ for those who have not read it) will be accepted as evidence by the European Court, where his appeal is headed once the case finally escapes the gravitational orbit of Scottish “justice”. But that will take at least a year…
Alex Salmond is tired, I think. I hope I am wrong but it would be very understandable. We are ripe for a younger generation of leaders. I’d hope to see Alba make common cause with ISP and redouble their efforts, including a civil disobedience campaign with a permanent, at least weekly, protest outside Holyrood. And outside that English Viceroy centre disfiguring Edinburgh. Why not a boycott – food, supplies, restaurant service, accommodation – of anyone who works there? I think this has to go to the streets. The truckers’ convoy in Ottawa was galvanising! (Leave aside whether you are a blue pill vaccine narrative believer like Barrhead Boy, or a red pill sceptic – I’m just talking of the tactics which btw were entirely peaceful and got the whole world paying attention.)
So what now? Will Alba’s breakthrough happen in May with the council elections? If it doesn’t, what then?
The reason for such simplistic and obvious questions is that in the current political climate the independence train seems to be heading for the cliff edge at high speed. There has to be a way to break out of this but nothing seems to work.
I honestly don’t think we’ll start to get traction until the plot against Alex Salmond is revealed. Once that is out on the open it will be obvious why there has been no movement on Independence and perhaps explain why and how the Yes movement has become so distracted and divided.
I think the deceit of the Alex Salmond plot is the root of the problem and agree that the solution to many issues lies with the truth being revealed.
Absolutely agree, Duncanio, that the actions against Mr Salmond need to be revealed, and the sooner the better because they are all related. However, it is the age-old question of which came first: the chicken or the egg? It’s just my take, but I believe that Mr Salmond had to be neutralized after 2014. The influx of pseudo woke from the Labour far left brought us the trans issue. The trans lobby could not afford to have independence on the agenda to distract from their agenda, so independence was put on the back burner.
Those who were in support of the trans issue – the pseudo woke (in both government and in the civil service) – were the same people who wanted Mr Salmond neutralized and independence kept on the back burner. Ergo, it was in their interests, and in the interests of that other force from the south that is always hovering over Scottish affairs, to put the boot in. I wouldn’t go believing that opening up the whole Salmond affair would end the GRA reform because every other mainstream party in the whole of the UK is in favour. It might well put a stop to it in Scotland, though, and bring down the ‘bad actors’ who have never listened for one moment to sense or the law.
I believe Lawrence hit the nail on the head. I’ve never trusted Nicola Sturgeon – my SNP friends know that – but in the last few years I’ve come to the conclusion that she’s working for the British Government. However, as Josef asks ” What’s to be done?”, I agree that the Alba Party is our only hope. We must simply TAKE independence.
Totally agree with Mr. Murray, everything she has done and not done over the last 6 or more years has been to cause division and unrest in the independence movement/ cause. I can only think that she has been enlisted in some way to the unionist side.
No political leader of a party whose only function is to obtain the independence of its country would act as Sturgeon has done. She quite simply is a Britnat. All the MSPs and MPs who support her are complicit in betraying the SNP and Scotland.

I saw the character of some of them during the Salmond Parliamentary Inquiry and it was not a pretty sight. I will not be voting SNP again under this current leadership.

And now with the added joy of a 10 year plan for the economy within the framework of a devolved government. Can’t they see devolution has served its purpose and UK gov are calling time on it. The SNP are letting us down at every turn.

In a nutshell, BB. We should be taking note of everyone of every party who votes for this stuff because what they are voting for is the eventual elimination of women from all female spaces and rights – ALL of them. This lot will not stop at self-ID. The consent laws will be next on the agenda. Shona Robison used those words on the anniversary of the death of Sarah Everard who was tricked by a policeman into being cuffed and dragged away to a horrific death. Not pretending, was he, Shona.
Neither, apparently, was the Black Cab Rapist who raped around 200 women by pretending that he had won the pools and wanted them to celebrate with him by sipping a date drug concoction. The Met failed to pick him up in the early stags of his raping career, disbelieving the women. A five-year-old child could have fitted the pieces together. Women are accommodating to men because of their socialization. That is their downfall. We should be teaching our daughters self-defence at school – not because it will enable them to overcome a determined man, but because it will give them self-confidence and provide a sense of always being alert to danger.
Just one rape or sexual assault or death at the hands of some man claiming to be a woman and accessing female spaces should see Nicola Sturgeon, Patrick Harvie, Lorna Slater, Shona Robison and all the other handmaidens and enablers, such as Cole-Hamilton, face prosecution for deliberate negligence. They know they are lying to the public. They know the dangers. They do not care enough about their own electorate to ensure their safety, dignity and privacy. They are a disgrace to Scottish politics and we should use the votes we have to show what we think of them.

I am also saddened at what sturgeon and her cabal have done to the SNP, and the independence movement. I agree that she is working for our imperial masters – why is the question ?
More and more folk are seeing through her lies. However Scotland is very ill-served by her newspapers and media. And police Scotland remain a disgrace.
However in 2007 – Labour thought they would form the Scottish executive .
I think things will change quickly for the better in the near future. Sturgeon is looking more and more harassed, ‘useless’ yusuf , shirley anne groomer and the rest of Scotland’s cowardly SNP MSPs and MPs are a lot more reticent about appearing on tv or in print. People are wondering why so many talentless/ useless/ shilpit /underhand folk are given very high office.
They must know that the GRA proposals are strongly opposed by a large majority. And if they vote them through then no amount of grovelling apologies in the future will be accepted.
All that is needed is the declaration that there will be YES candidates in the next westmonster election. A majority – then negotiations begin. I hope, and believe, that this will happen in the very near future. And what will sturgeon do then ? Oppose the YES candidates ?
Sturgeon’s demise is coming. ‘All political careers end in failure’. A whole lot of us are hoping sturgeon’s ends with ignominy and jail.
Supporters of independence should be asked these questions:
Q1. Where do you see our Scottish Government… ‘After Sturgeon’?
Q2. There-and-then-after, when do you believe a vote for reconvening Scotland’s Independence will be offered and given to the people to decide?
Scotland needs to get beyond and look at how better life will be… ‘after sturgeon’ goes down.

Excellent article. Summarises where we are and it is crystal clear that Sturgeon is an independence blocker.
But yes, there is a weapon of choice. Send them a message and vote them out at the May council elections.
As the old adage says, to vote for them only encourages them. So vote em out. Vote down the ballot paper, Alba, ISP, good independents, then everyone else ranking the SNP bottom.
And a say that as a near forty year member of the SNP now left the party for Alba.
