ONE OF THE BIGGEST SCANDALS SINCE DEVOLUTION
The Former Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill MP has today (FRIDAY) called for a Public Inquiry into the ferries fiasco at Ferguson Marine over the failure to deliver the two ferries Glen Sannox (801) and vessel 802 within budget and on time. In a statement Kenny MacAskill MP said:
“The failure to deliver the two ferries, 801 and 802 at Ferguson’s within budget and on time is fast becoming one of the biggest scandals since the current Scottish Parliament came into being in 1999 and arguably the biggest of this SNP Government’s tenure.
“The cost over-run is £152 million and rising while the questions for the Scottish Government have been stacking up over recent days. They demand not just ‘regret’ from the First Minister but full openness and transparency.
“Public Inquiries are rightly few in number but there comes a time when they are the only means of establishing the facts and getting to the truth.
“As with the Inquiry into the Scottish Parliament building project a public inquiry can look at the cost over runs and delays in the construction of the two ferries, can ensure full disclosure of documents and demand that witnesses appear before them.
“Procurement strategy, cost control, contractual and project management arrangements can all be looked at in detail. In addition an inquiry can establish a full account of the key decisions and factors which have determined the cost over runs and time delays.
“The public inquiry can build on the Auditor General’s existing findings. However given the clear obstacles which the Auditor General has encountered a public inquiry is now the only way of establishing what went wrong, when and by whom.
“These are the critical questions which require detailed scrutiny and answers from the Scottish Government. Frankly with the degree of public disquiet and the level of public mistrust the Scottish Government cannot be judge and jury in their own court.
“I believe that the opennesss and transparency that the Scottish public rightly demand can now only be achieved by a full scale judge led Public Inquiry”.
I totally agree with Kenny. A full scale judge led Public Enquiry is essential. Sturgeon’s poor governance must be highlighted in order to safeguard our future. The Scottish people deserve professional politicians as opposed to friends of the present FM’s chosen few.
I fully support and echo strongly Kenny’s proposal , it is unbelievably reprehensible that ANY politician or political party should NOT be SCREAMING this outrage collectively in the Scottish Parliament , it doesn’t matter if people are concerned that unionists will use this idiocy to berate the snp or sturgeon , they have presided over this clusterfcuk it IS of their making so they DESERVE the ridicule and outrage against them , which also rightly comes from independence supporters . AS a taxpayer and unashamed independence supporter I DEMAND ANY government within Scotland use our taxes responsibly and correctly irrespective of their independence credentials , stupidity is stupidity and the person responsible should be SACKED
WHAT is MORE worrying is the unionists will use this DEBACLE against independence , citing the idiocy is just a foretaste of what we can expect from any government post independence
This is NOT WM and the usual ignoring of government incompetence with OUR money , THIS is Scotland where we DEMAND malfeasance and or incompetence is publicly EXPOSED and penalised , if actions are not taken to identify WHAT WENT WRONG and WHO IS RESPONSIBLE , it leaves the door WIDE OPEN for this grossly expensive and stupidly idiotic situation to repeat itself , I WANT NO PART of a government who can oversee such ineptitude and incompetence with OUR the public’s money and who go to any length to cover up their idiocy or corruption , WE have had numerous examples and failures from unionist parties governing Scotland in the past WE should NOT be excusing or forgiving this stupidity because it is the so called party of independence
