Responding to ALBA’s exclusion from the Channel Four Scottish Election Leader’s Debate ALBA’s Lead Candidate for West Scotland Chris McEleny said:
” On the day that a Panelbase poll shows ALBA on course to win seats in every region of Scotland and ahead of the Liberal Democrats in both votes and seats you might think that it would be newsworthy to include ALBA. These so called news hounds wouldn’t know a story if it bit their hand off. The story of this Election is ALBA rising and the fact that the flame of Independence is catching fire in the housing schemes of working class Scotland.
” The decision by Channel Four not to invite ALBA to take part in tonight’s Scottish Election Leaders Debate is not only anti-democratic but shows just how out of touch the metropolitan elite are with what is happening on the ground in Scotland.
“ALBA is standing on the most ambitious and radical manifesto of any party in this Election. As Independence voters come to realise that a vote for the SNP is a wasted on the list in every region so they are backing ALBA on the list to deliver the Independence Supermajority that will deliver the change Scotland needs.”
The Metropolitan Elite is not out of touch with what is happening.
Quite the contrary they are very much in touch with what is going on. They know exactly what is going.
Abuse is the name of the game. Make no mistake about that. Trying to jail Salmond to destroy him because he was a political threat was very real. Ditto the attempts to decapitate journalist bloggers like Mark Hirst and Craig Murray.
And then with the creation of Alba, a party that the Metropolitan Elite fear, the electoral commission fail to approve its logo for inclusion on the election ballot paper, despite approving a change to another party logo requested after applied.
And now a media blackout. BBC, STV, Channel Four all disbarring all ALBA participation.
This is state abuse. No one should misunderstand what is going on here. It is an utter violation of democracy, and is a very slippery slope, and we are well down that slope now.
Democracy, democratic process is a safety valve. No democracy, no safety valve.
We are I fear only at the beginning of a conflict between vested state control and democratic choice – and as we now see, the state plays to kill.
And I see today that the Daily Record has a piece declaring that voter per Lord Ashcroft have decided that Alex Salmond is a warthog, dirty, a toad and a snake.
Something tells me that this odious piece of toilet paper masquerading as a failing newspaper ( yes I can be pejorative too, but accurate ) does not like Alex Salmond.
Typifies the media onslaught on behalf of the establishment. And some folks think we live in a democracy.
But you know what, Mr Salmond and the 31 other Alba candidates are going to do well – unless the establishment tampers with the votes.
And would they do that, with Sturgeon encouraging the uptake of postal votes. And with postal votes going out a month before the election, and being returned for the most part near immediately, one can see why blacking media coverage of Alba has become the broadcasters policy.
And ballot box tampering. Well with votes not being counted until well after the election, day two in fact, would the state stoop to stuffing the postal vote. Of course they would. No one can have any confidence any more. It’s a jungle with only might being the decider.
Totally agree. Blacking out Alba is deliberate. The Establishment will resort to whatever dirty tricks are required. Tampering with the Postal Vote is a blindingly obvious one. We need to look at the Establishment as our mortal enemy and not an amenable outfit who will actively co-operate with the Independence cause.
