Liberate Scotland stands on the principle of Independence, nothing less, we have always advocated voting Independence on the constituency and Independence on the list. Unlike other parties who bend and twist themselves into knots mollycoddling the SNP, we will not pretend that a blanket vote for the SNP will somehow deliver independence. It hasn’t for the past 11 years and it won’t now.
Too many of their candidates care more about pushing gender, trans and queer ideology than they do about restoring Scotland’s sovereignty the evidence is clear, more and more pro independence supporters would rather stay at home than vote SNP.
So the serious question must be asked of those who still preach “SNP on the constituency, us on the list”, when those constituency votes would not be for independence at all, but for more of the same woke agenda that has dragged the movement backwards.
Now, some may say I’m talking nonsense, but let’s look at the truth of the SNP’s actions, or more accurately, their inactions since the court victory of For Women Scotland (FWS).
The UK Supreme Court told the Scottish Government bluntly that their interpretation of “sex” under the Equality Act was unlawful, yet instead of getting on with aligning guidance for schools and prisons with the law, ministers have decided to fight on in the courts again.
Another round of taxpayer funded legal adventurism, another chance for the government to bleed money into the hands of lawyers while public services are slashed to the bone.
This is where accountability must bite, if a minister insists on defending guidance that has already been torn apart by the highest court in the land and loses, then it is not the people of Scotland who should foot the bill, it should be the minister personally.
Every wasted pound is a cut by another name, every failed courtroom gamble is another ASN assistant unfunded, another hospital clinic cancelled, another refuge space lost.
The days of ministers playing politics with ideology while taxpayers pick up the tab must end.
If they lose, they should pay.

To make the point, every £100,000 lost to these legal failures could instead have been used to,
• Fund extra day(s) for a community mental health team.
• Hiring additional ASN (Additional Support Needs) assistants in schools.
• Running more GP or dental clinics in underserved areas.
• Maintaining infrastructure, pothole repairs.
• It equals funding whole projects that have been cut like youth services, care services, etc.
So the question for 2026 is simple do you want to vote for those who do not serve our movement or will you vote Liberate Scotland for candidates who fight for outcomes and not incomes?
I absolutely agree with you, Roddy, and I intend spoiling my paper as I don’t expect there will be any independence supporting parties standing in my area other than the SNP, which I have always previously supported but because of their treatment of Alex and all of the reasons above, I simply cannot do.
The Greens are no alternative as evidenced by their behaviour in government and willingness to side with Labour for another shot at power as well as their admission that independence is no red line for them in seeking alliances.
I worry though, that even though the current SNP government is abhorrent in so many respects, if the SNP don’t gain enough regional votes, the alternative could be a unionist first minister and the end of our dreams of an Independent Scotland till the UN gives us their backing and meanwhile our country continues to have its resources stolen and our citizens impoverished.

People are fed up with politics and its through this discontent the SNP is ridding high in the 30%, because no one wants to vote for the Unionist parties apart from those who despise Scotland and its people and our way of life.
I’ve stated for years that the SNP needs to be destroyed for the sake of our country and some have missed whats right in front of them and wasted 5yrs calling for unity.
The SNP is a rotten apple and for the life of me I can’t understand why their membership and the voters still want to support a party who’s only goal is to preserve the union, its annoying for me to hear people say the SNP will be the largest party and the only party who can delivery Independence, I sit back and think what plant are you on and where has to ears and brain been.
We have certain people saying what they believe is right for Scotland and down the road start saying something different when all they had to do was look at the bigger picture and STOP just thinking about independence and start addressing who its achieved without the SNP.
Only a moron believes next year is about Independence its not and our focus should be about trying not to make it about Independence, the election next year should be entirely about destroying the SNP and stopping them getting any seats at all.

I wholeheartedly agree with your assertion that they should pay for their own defence of this odious policy so much so that I sent an email to FWS suggesting that as fuckwit swinney is the head of the snp and is (SPIT) supposedly FM of the Scottish government his continuing to ignore the ruling is tantamount to breaking the law and as such FWS action should be against him personally and make him pay his own legal costs , I also have to ask what the other political parties are doing allowing swinney and his deviants to use PUBLIC taxpayers money to fight a court case which is AGAINST the LAW, they should collectively DEMAND that he IMPLEMENTS the law and failure to do so they should walk out in protest, there are plenty of legal representatives who are MSP/s WHY are they allowing this CRETIN to break the LAW
twathater: I, too, support them in a small way, and I absolutely agree that the time has come now for the leadership to pay for their own follies. The reasons that ALL the parties were (and may still be) for all this stuff may not be evident yet, but you can bet your bottom dollar that money comes into it somewhere for someone – and not necessarily the politicians who enable it.
There is so much more to this stuff than meets the eye, and although big tech, big pharmaceutical companies, etc. are all in it up to their brass necks, I really don’t believe that is the full story. I think that what is happening is that many people want every perversion and deviancy out in the open and recognized as ‘normal’, and a lot of them are in positions of power and influence.
All their secret, little sexual foibles, including PDFilia, perhaps especially PDFilia, can be considered just part of the panoply of human sexuality. Remember, the French philosopher’s (mainly) of the 20th century argued for this, too, so it is not new, and the German Weimar Republic and its aftermath, well into the Nazi era, practised ‘transvestite cross-dressing’ with alacrity. These are fetishes and paraphilias, and cannot be said to be normal by any stretch of the imagination, but that suicidal empathy and intersectionalism that is so prevalent today has beaten down the barriers.
The SNP, the Greens, the Lib Dems and Labour are all steeped in this stuff and all believe (at least, many inn their ranks do) that indoctrinating children from an early age will do the trick. The Tories are less open about their sexual fantasies, but it is possible that they are far less willing to acknowledge that they exist in the wider population of males. I am not saying that females do not have fetishes, but they are far, far less prevalent, and paraphilias are all but unknown in the female population. I have to stress here that it is not all males, but a percentage of them, big enough to make waves.
I think that what is happening is that all of Western society, including our own, in Scotland, is breaking down and disintegrating into something much darker – through economic pressures. It has happened before and will, presumably, happen again, but, if left unchecked, the present suicidal empathy, brought on by guilt by association with all kinds of perceived (and, perhaps, untrue) wrongs from the past – slavery, sexual suppression and repression, etc. – it will engulf us and bring us low because they will ruin our children.
The present generations have no direct and living connections to slavery, for starters, and, if any benefits accrued, they certainly did not accrue to the working-class population (the largest part) which, during the period concerned, were just a step up from slavery themselves. Colonialism, ditto. This present malaise is wholly and completely a middle-class angst looking for a home, and that consumes all of Western society – and will undermine democracy, free speech, liberty. We can be angry about the injustices of the past perpetrated by our forebears, and we can try to acknowledge them, but we, personally, cannot be held liable for them. To feel that we are responsible is the very epitome of self-indulgent narcissism, putting ourselves at the centre of everything. For the perceived ‘victims’ – several generations removed – the same applies.
Better the devil you or words to that effect is an old adage that oft rings true, And old dogs find it hard to learn new tricks. That’s another that rings trues and of course in Scotland at one time and for many years they used to weigh the Labour votes.

So yes, with Salvo, Liberate and all the poverty rations that are coming down the line from a busted flush of declining Great British economy, things will change. And until they do the proverbial beaten dogs will just have to take their medicine. And there was me believing that post Brexit Britain’s golden and best years were still to come.
I think the time has come when we should all – those of us who want independence – be asking ourselves what it is that we want independence for?
Presumably, it is to preserve our culture, heritage and languages first and foremost, otherwise there is no point in Scottish independence as opposed to British independence or European independence or Western independence, and all of these categories overlap and overarch each other, anyway. When we become independent, we will still be affected by our former Britishness, by our European heritage and by the fact that we are members of Western society. We have contributed to all of them.
Secondly, we would wish to enhance our economic position in the world and bring prosperity to as many of our citizens as possible? That would involve us in trade relations with other countries, in diplomatic exchanges, etc. Our universities would be expected to produce innovators and scientists and entrepreneurs, inventors and all kinds of people whose job would be to advance the nation, as well as teachers and philosophers and thinkers.
Thirdly, we would wish, surely, to live peaceably with our neighbours and others?
However, how do we intend to preserve our culture, heritage and languages when we have the lowest birth rate in the UK? Not only that, but we also have the lowest birth rate of any group in the UK. How are we intending to preserve Scottishness in the face of migration from other parts of the UK, as well as from other parts of the world? How much real interest in preserving Scottish culture and heritage, etc. exists within immigrant and migrant communities?
I’m not suggesting that these two groups – migrants and immigrants – bring nothing to Scotland because, of course, they do. All immigrants and migrants bring something unique to add to the culture. Neither am I suggesting that they have no right to be here. Immigrants and migrants always bring something to the existing culture which enriches it if – but only if – they do not overwhelm the indigenous culture.
What I am trying to get people who want Scottish independence to think about is why we want it if it is not to preserve who we are as Scots? Is it important that Scots and Scottishness and Scotland should exist at all in the future? What do we expect of our New Scots in an independent Scotland? Do we want integration and/or assimilation because every study done would suggest that, without these, no culture can survive.
We need to start thinking beyond the immediate strategy of regaining our independence because the world has moved on in the almost 100 years since independence became organized in Scotland. Imperialism and colonialism are no longer possible options to alleviate poverty: indeed, the West as a whole is being turned upside down by ideas that our politicians have seized on to try and solve the problem of a seemingly chronic falling birth rate wedded to chronic economic downturn, but the net outcome could well be that there will be no such country as Scotland in the future, no Scottish culture to speak of, no Scottish languages and dialects and no Scottish heritage except in the history books.
Yet, so few even want to talk about these uncomfortable truths in this age of ‘woke’ suicidal empathy and virtue-signalling narcissism coupled to Bonhoeffer Stupidity that has replaced common sense, rationality and moderation in all Western countries. Scotland is no exception.
In fact, we have elected politicians who bring in unwanted laws and punish us for our thoughts, let alone our deeds. We are ruled by fear of speaking the truth to power because power refuses to obey its own laws, yet expects us to do so unquestioningly. Just what is the SNP for any more? It is certainly not to bring about independence. It has no intention of protecting our culture, heritage and languages. It refuses to respect the law of the land. It elevates social upheaval to a fine art form and glorifies absurdity and counter-rationality. To whom does it answer? Not to rational Scots. Not to nationalists/independistas. Not even to Unionists. So, what is its real mission in 2026?
Indepence Lorn delivers many things.
To stand on your own two feet. To make your own decisions free of colonial interference, To deliver fair and democratic governance. To protect Scottish culture, and history. To dele4 a more equitable society. To develop and share our countries resources.
Independence will not be a magic overnight sensation. It will however give Scotland and its people to move towards being a small successful country of which around the world there are many – Norway maybe being the closest example.
I think many people understand that. On present form however I think like the Northern American Indian or the Australian aborigine we head for extinction as a race, a people, a culture.
I know all those things, Willie. I have supported independence from my early teens and I’m no spring chicken now. The point I was trying to make was that our society is changing at such a fast rate these days that we are on a merry-go-round that is in danger of spinning off its axis.
Will an eventually independent Scotland be the same Scotland as we, the older members of society have always known it? I very much doubt it. Who exactly will be deciding our priorities and future? People with a stake in Scotland, the one we have always known, or those with a stake in changing Scotland even more? How will that Scotland differ from our Scotland and how will it present in the future when we are no longer here?
I agree with you: we are heading for extinction as a people, as a culture, and, unlike the American Indians and the Aborigines who have both managed to retain at least a vestige of their culture and languages, ours will disappear on present form. Someone in the future might dig up an old shortbread tin and see a plaid that was once called ‘tartan’ on the lid, but that is about all our children’s children have to look forward to, I fear – if, in deed, there are any of them left in Scotland.
We have the entrenched Unionists and the suicidal empathetic ‘woke’ to thank for our demise, along with economic downturn and an overall lack of spine in our so-called ‘leaders’. We also have the over-empathetic Western guilt trip to thank, too. Anyone who deludes him or herself into believing that England is in a better position, should take a trip across the border. This is a European/Western phenomenon.
At least the American Indians, who had many different cultures, have Geronimo, Sitting Bull, Crazy Horse, Gall, Wooden Leg, Tecumseh and many other chiefs to remember, all of who fought for the survival of their people. Those we have to remember are all long dead, even now, apart from Alec Salmond, who, only recently, succumbed. The present ‘leaders’ have hastened our end with their self-serving stupidity and their lack of courage.
For many, it will not matter a jot, but, I believe that, for many more, including some Unionists, the loss will be a terrible psychological blow, a trauma they will not be expecting but will have to endure until the folk memory fades enough to be forgotten and they have been assimilated into the dominant culture – which, as things stand, could be anything. One thing is certain: it will not be Scottish, as we who are alive today know it.
