Stephen Paton is in The National again, today, trying to claim that the special protection offered to women under the 2010 Equality Act does not preclude trans women. This goes to the very heart of self-ID with no medical intervention or assessment: why should a society take the word of anyone that he or she is trans? It is not at all like being gay because homosexuality is on the sex spectrum, for want of a better word. Body dysphoria/dysmorphia is a condition, and it affects a vanishingly tiny minority of people. People with all kinds of body disparities are included in that broad condition, anorexia, for one. Do we indulge the anorexic’s ‘feelings’ and encourage him or her to starve to death; do we accede to the person who decides that he or she has a limb that is not theirs, and amputate it? No. So why are we prepared to take transgenderism on someone’s say-so, when, scientifically, biologically, changing sex is an impossibility, but acceding to that belief opens up the very real possibility of another group of people’s human rights being breached without any kind of safeguarding? It is preposterous.

Which rights do trans people not have? The only one that I can see is that of being able, freely, to access women’s spaces and rights. So, let’s look at that closely. Why do trans people want to access the spaces of the opposite sex, assuming that transmen do as much as trans women, which appears not to be the case, based on evidence. So, why do so many men want to access female spaces? Validation? As what? As women? Never. Most will never, ever, in their wildest imaginings pass for women, so validation is a bucket wish list item, and not reality. So, what other reasons could there be for self-ID-ed men to want to access female spaces? Well, there’s hatred, resentment, jealousy and the desire to humiliate, the need to make women and girls feel uncomfortable and force them out and there’s the opportunistic options that become available to the predator.

So who are all these trans women? Given that genuine body dysphoric people are a vanishingly tiny percentage of the population, who are these men? The answer would appear to be that they are paraphiliac men, many with more than one paraphilia (paraphilia is a form of sexual practice in which most do not participate) and it could be autogynephilia (sexual desire for self as a woman, but a gender stereotypical woman – submissive, generally) or voyeurism, obsessive touching of females in public, pooping into a nappy to achieve orgasm, cross-dressing, drag, et al. Can these men ever be called women? No, of course not. They are men with specific fetishes that centre around femaleness as a submissive and gender stereotype which many born women abhor.

Now, can someone explain why these men with fetishes should have a legal right to access women’s spaces? By no stretch of the imagination could any sane person call them women. They know perfectly well that they are not women, and could never be, and most, because they refuse surgery or even hormones, do not want to be, so why are they sheltering under the Stonewall trans umbrella as ‘transwomen’? These men need to be challenged as men. We need to stop feeling sorry for trans women and tell them to fight their own battles. Parasitical men who can’t even be bothered to do what it takes to carve out a niche for themselves, but wish to grab all women’s spaces and rights, need to be shown short shrift. A third space is now necessary because women will not hand over theirs. Even physically changed trans women are still trans women, not women.

The other challenge must centre around the 2004 Gender Recognition Act: it is now obsolete in all ways that matter, and requires to be repealed. If you are going to Glasgow on 20 July to support Marion Millar, please carry a placard for the repeal of the GRA. If that Act is now superseded and redundant by same sex marriage legislation and by data protection legislation, it cannot and should not be reformed to include self-ID and a shorter period of recognition. That does not preclude a legal fiction that trans women exist and should have all rights and benefits that accrue to others, live their lives as they choose and should not be discriminated against except where it is legally important to do so, such as where women’s safe spaces are concerned, and women’s rights to certain areas of employment, sports, etc., but they cannot have access to natal women’s rights and spaces because they are women. They are not, and never can be, in any sane society.

Lastly, women’s rights were based on their sex-based disadvantages for millennia. Trans women are men who have every advantage brought by their birth sex, even though they might not feel comfortable in that sex. Middle-aged men who ‘transition’ in their heads and by wearing stereotypical female clothing, have had all the advantages of being born male. Employers are not allowed to reduce their salaries to those of most women’s or demote them from positions that women can still only dream of achieving. They want it all: male privilege and access to the goodies of life, many of which are still closed to women; and the pleasure of female identification. Sorry, chaps, your problem is a male one, not a female one, and we are tired of being kind and nice to you. Incels (involuntary celibates) and other men with paraphilias cannot qualify as women. No man can. Transwomen, yes, but never women. Start fighting your own corner chaps.

I haven’t been able to access the YouTube link you give. It hangs at the Google screen to accept cookies. So I can only watch the video on your blog and can’t get to a subscribe button. Maybe you have to sign up to Google to get through?
