Webcom Radio is Now Playing: The Strumbellas - Young & Wild

Through A Scottish Prism 08/10/23

FROM NOON SUNDAY.

This week the TASP show went on the road. Thanks to the generosity of Flagship Media Group and our loyal viewers, we took ourselves and our new recording equipment to Edinburgh. In conjunction with Alba Edinburgh, we held an event at the Quakers Meeting Rooms in Victoria Place. Eva Comrie, Yvonne Ridley, Lloyd Quinan and myself were joined by my good friend Gareth Wardell, The Grousebeater.

There were lively discussions on matters of political significance to Scots from the past week. The Rutherglen and Hamilton West by-election, of course, took centre stage. There were also discussions on Scotland United, GRA, Freeports and other matters that our audience wanted to discuss.

Sadly, after we had finished the recording and Techie was preparing the show for broadcast a technical issue was discovered. While we had high quality, magnificent video of the evening’s events we uncovered a problem with a sound card. We had a complete failure of the audio for the show. Despite the valiant efforts of the technical team, we could not find a solution to this unfortunate calamity.

We could not reconvene the meeting with our wonderful audience. Therefore, we took the only option open to us that was to call the Prism team together to record today’s show. On the upside the new format meant we could include the Coatbridge Cavalier himself, Phil Boswell.

We hope this unfortunate and unavoidable technical failure does not spoil your enjoyment of today’s episode. We will of course, return to Edinburgh whenever the LACU ask us.

  • I keep saying it, but it’s true: Prism just gets better and better.

So many nuggets of pure gold in today’s Prism. Agreed with vast majority of comments. I really do not believe that the SNP will learn any lessons, but will double down. It was very obvious that many female independists would not vote, which is a shame because they should have taken the opportunity to spoil their ballot papers and write their objections to GRR all over them. It is no coincidence either, that Margaret Ferrier is female. No male MP would have been hounded like that.

I may just be prejudiced because I loathe the ‘trans’ lobby so much, but, without being patronizing, I don’t think Phil really gets what these people actually are. No one – but no one – who wears female clothes and undies (and they are wearing them under the clobber – information courtesy of many ‘trans’ and ‘trans offenders) or who insists on access to female spaces, is kosher. Yes, I know there are transsexuals who wish women no overt harm, but they still cause psychological unease by using ‘woman-face’, which is every bit as insulting and exploitative as using ‘black-face’, and by pushing against our boundaries. Now, I would never want ‘trans’ people to be harmed or exploited or sidelined, any more than I would wish those for anyone, but it is time we started to acknowledge just what is going on here. Queer Theory is the totem pole of this lobby, and queer theory leads to female erasure or violation straight to a free-for-all on children. Every post modern academic and philosopher who ever spouted this stuff was a paedophile or close to such.

They are men (the women are an entirely different cohort, even if many of them, also gatecrash male spaces, particularly gay male spaces, which is also very wrong) whose whole motivation is sexual. This is what we are missing here, and why they cannot ever be treated as women, but as ‘trans women’ who are male. If they want to compete in sports, they must campaign for ‘trans’ sports, if they want to stand for parliament, they must stand as ‘trans’ candidates, and so on, never, ever as women. Like so many females, I once felt empathy for them, but no more. We have all had to learn the hard way that sexual conmen are just that. Those who have ‘gender dysphoria’ are either gay or suffer from body dysmorphia, a horrible mental illness whose relief might, indeed, entail surgery and/or hormones. What they can never be is women or girls, but I suspect the vast majority know that and gaslight everyone around them.

I have great respect for both Phil and Lloyd, but I think Lloyd is wrong here, too, because we are not over the hump; we are still at the foothills of this scourge. The billionaires backing this stuff have not left the field, and neither have most of the ‘trans’ themselves or the puberty blockers or the surgeries. They are the foot soldiers of a very insidious movement. Our children are still being hoodwinked in our schools with ‘trans’ ideology.

I would like to believe that independence would wipe this stuff away, but I know it won’t. Too many already independent countries have fallen foul of it. I, too, wish to God that the so-called dissidents within the SNP would walk, but, again, self-interest dominates. Respect is now in short supply where these people are concerned. Even they have been a huge disappointment.

Eva and Yvonne as passionate as ever, as you are, too, BB. Thank you for this blog.

  • Great stance on women’s rights BB. Totally agree with you. When I bring it up among my Labour colleagues I get stares. I warn them what is ahead if we pursue this stance. Glad to see Labour in Holyrood backtracking on their stance backing the SNP while getting all their amendments rejected as the SNP smirked their way through the process. On the voting in Rutherglen if you do the maths % wise tactical voting was not as prevelent as the SNP are trying to say. A 39% turnout shows that Labour stayed the course % wise on the vote but the SNP vote dissapeared. I go round the doors every week in Midlothian. We have just won an internal Labour award on canvassing . Hit 11k doors while the Labour guy who was the chief whip during the abuse against Grady is sitting on his fat ers. His wife was the convener in the North Lanarkshire witch hunt against SNP councillors highlighting abuse. That is the state of play. I am writing this listening to Yvonne. Waken up. see what slowly is happening. Things can only get better will be top of the charts again soon from what I am hearing.

    • Sandy as was said on the show the Labour vote has fallen for the past 5 elections in RHW. The Tory vote coalesced with you Red Tories. This is no revival for British Labour. The independence vote stayed at home it did not vote unionist. This will be a short lived victory. I would advise Mr Shanks to get a short term let in London.

      • The truer number BB is if you take the %’s upwards to the GE % figures and apply them to the figures of all the parties. That way you can compare. You have to remember the SNP have only won 1 out of the last 14 bi-elections. They are being picked of by Labour, Lib Dems, Independents and dare I say in the borders the Tories. The message is broken. On the nepotism you are absolutely correct. In all parties dare I say it but far worse in the SNP. I saw a meme\ graph a while ago about who is seeing to whom and the connections aka nepotism in the SNP in Holyrood and it was like something out of Sodom and Gomorrah. The SNP is imploding before our eyes.. Also listened to that catty reply Useless and Louden said about AS in an interview which did not show Useless up in a good light. Straight out of Sturgeons handbook that one was.

  • In the by-election, the SNP vote collapsed, but so did Labour’s. Sure, the numbers showed just a 700 decrease, but when you take into account the Tory and LibDem tactical voting, a substantial number of former Labour supporters stayed at home. Not in the numbers of the SNP, but still substantial.

  • Having watched the news over the weekend I cannot be the only person who sees the Palestinians in Gaza being wiped off the face of the earth.

Israel is going to do exactly what the Nazi’s did to the Jews.

Cutting off power, water, food, medicine together with phone and internet connections is an action designed specifically to harm as many millions of Palestinians in Gaza as possible. And of course we are now seeing Israeli war planes bomb civilian areas blowing ordinary folks to bits. The pictures are shocking and now the US Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier replete with F35 fighter planes and accompanied by five missile destroyers are heading to support Israel.

Two wrongs do not make a right, but this is Israeli genocide aided and abetted by the USA. No one can conclude anything less. This is the Final Solution to wipe the Palestinians off the face of the earth.

Or do I get it wrong. Maybe the Palestinian Occupied Territories are a paragon of democracy and fairness. Maybe Israeli settlers are charming people warm and welcome to their fellow human beings. One thing for sure the Israeli ministers declaration that Israel will wipe off the face of the earth the Palestinian savages seems certainly true.

Its an utter humanitarian outrage. Could you imagine cutting Glasgow off of all gas, electricity, water, food and medicine, surrounding the city with tanks and sending the RAF in to bomb the city taking down entire building men, women and children.

And the Sun today? Well it’s front page is about how Simon Cowell thinks David Walliams is a Wally.

Ah humanitarian bombing and mass starvation. Its the tools of many whilst the masses, or far to many of them don’t care. And with that can anyone tell me when strictly comes dancing is on next?

    Looks

    • Aye , Willie , yet another context-less , ethically unambiguous conflict unfolds , another instance of peace-loving , morally pure Good Guys v Savage Bad Guys . All amplified to deafening volume by the wholly * owned * propaganda machine that is MSM and the spineless Political Class it serves and is served by .

And , yes , the Netanyahoo ( sic ) Israeli State , armed to the teeth in US lethal weaponry & endless money supply will – if allowed – take this opportunity to do what they’ve long wanted to do ..ie .. apply a * final solution * to the ” Palestine Problem ” .

Typically , Alex Salmond , again sets the standard for measured response to such awful situations . His recent comment alludes to the wider context of the decades-long oppression of Palestinians and appeals to both sides to halt the violence – like any true humanitarian statesman would/should : unlike the knee-jerking platitudes of limp biscuit S Flynn , parroting the * accepted * Establishment line and hoping for a nice wee pat on the head from his superiors

  • Why if you try to make a comment about the tragedy unfolding in the middle east Israel / Palestine do blog comments disappear.

I’ve just made a comment here expressing concerns about how huge the human tragedy is going to be absolutely immense and how little attention it is being given in the media. The sun’s front page for example covers Simon Cowell thing David Walliams is a Wally.

Are we truly so uncaring and devoid of thought on how these situations need settled rather than inflamed

Anyway. lets see if this post instantly disappears Roddy.
