This is our third show in the series of end of year reports. It is also in October the beginning of a new political year. The decisions and selections taken at the Alba Annual Conference in Glasgow on 28th & 29th October will set the tone for the party. 2024 is a UK General Election year and this is an important event for the entire independence movement.
The Alba Party have made their position very clear. They introduced the concept of Scotland United. It is a simple, yet brilliant idea. One pro independence candidate for each constituency to maximise the independence vote. It then makes the election a defacto independence plebiscite. Westminster cannot prevent it, cannot deny the result or refuse to participate.
Alba have already agreed this arrangement in Na h-Eileanan an Iar. They have also shown this willingness in Rutherglen Hamilton West where the ISP have been given a clear run at the seat. It was not the only reason that Alba decided not to stand however it was certainly a factor. We can but hope that both ISP and SNP now both decide that Scotland United is the best and only tactic to gain our independence. A united independence movement is what the unionists fear most. Our political parties need a unified approach. If they can manage this, then the entire independence movement will fall in behind this effort.
This is one of the reasons that it is so important, the people elected to the NEC this year are the best available to ensure the party runs the best possible campaign next year. Since the party began in 2021 it has been building and the NEC is vital to that continued growth.
On today’s Prism we introduce five new hopefuls that want to be elected to the governing body. They are all, myself included standing as ordinary members. We have Hamish Vernal, Trish McPherson, Jackie Anderson, Hector MacLeod, and Sean Davis.
Each of these dedicated individuals are willing to give up their time free of charge to advance the cause of independence. In this my third show on this topic I only wish the NEC could elect all of the wonderful people that have participated in our episodes.
The ALBA Party is lucky to have such talented and selfless individuals that are prepared to work for the cause. Watch for yourself and see if you agree with me that the members of Alba are spoiled for choice later this month.

The Conference will choose four adult human males and four adult human females to become members of this years Alba Party NEC.
In this upcoming year, it is vital that all of our choices are the ones that are best for our stated aim, the rebirth of the nation of Scotland!

ISP previously demonstrated their commitment to a united approach to independence by standing down their List candidates for the last Scottish Parliamentary elections in favour of Alba.
They did this even though they had candidates already in place and had worked for several years to establish the Party following the SNP’s failure to prioritise independence and its betrayal of women and children’s rights and safety through wokeism.
Although I am an Alba member I am cognisant that key planks of my Party’s policies including nothing less than independence (freedom from colonialism), joining EFTA, and opposition to self identification in the face of evidence to the contrary, were and are ISP policies before Alba was established.
Hardly years Joan, The ISP was founded in 2020 and was registered by the Electoral Commission on 7 May 2020.One year before the HR election. I would also politely suggest that they had very few, maybe not even a handful of candidates ready to fight the Holyrood election.To date since then they have fought only 1 council by-election where are all these pre approved candidates? Not only have Alba stood aside in RHW they also stood aside at Council elections to allow Colette her wish to stand in a particular ward. This was despite the approved Alba candidate being a resident of that ward who then moved to another ward. Colette has openly declared her party are not in favour of Scotland United preferring to go it alone. RHW will show us all if both SNP and ISP are right to reject the unity of Scotland United. I really do hope between them they take 50%+1 of the vote tomorrow,though I suspect that is highly unlikely.
