Webcom Radio is Now Playing: AKKI (DE) - Go Low - Single - Go Low

Through A Scottish Prism 05/03/23

FROM NOON SUNDAY.

This week I am joined by regulars Eva Comrie, Phil Boswell, Yvonne Ridley and a new guest,  Lloyd Quinan. Lloyd has a vast swathe of experience and knowledge. He was a former SNP MSP, a television Presenter, an active Trade Unionist. An ex-SNP Branch Convenor in Maryhill, Glasgow. He was also Convenor of SNP, Edinburgh East in 2016 when Ash Regan was selected as the candidate and subsequently MSP for that Constituency. He was also Ash’s election agent. He remains a member of the SNP. He brings a breadth of knowledge and experience to our discussions.

This week the main focus is, of course, the leadership contest of the SNP. Emma Harper’s unconstitutional intervention may have been glossed over by the SNP hierarchy, it gets a full discussion and conclusion by the panel.

Humza and the SSM who is telling the truth him or Alex Salmond and Alex Neil?

We discuss the televised debate and the points raised. Why is the payroll and anti-Scottish media backing Humza? Did the TV debate bore or enthuse the public and our panel?

The Unionist press attacking Ash and Kate while supporting Humza. If the Brits support him, why should independence supporters? Are the SNP leadership and membership on the same page? Who do the YES Movement prefer?

Nicola Sturgeon, John Swinney, Chief Constable Livingston all resigning at same time, is it a coincidence or is there something happening in the background that we dont know?

The Deposit Return Scheme is this viable or just another badly drafted piece of Green legislation?

Why has Lorna Slater created a PFI scheme for Nature Scotland when we have a Scottish Investment Bank?

HS 2 budget to rise from the original estimate of £32 billion to £100 billion all to shave 30 minutes off of the train journey from Birmingham to London. Why should Scottish taxpayers have a bill for £8.9 billion to subsidise London transport?

Rishi Sunak in Northern Ireland telling our Celtic cousins how lucky they are to be inside the Single Market. To Scots he says shut up and sit down! Our panel give Mr Sunak his horoscope.

All this and more on your favourite Scottish politics review show.
