Sadly I will not live long enough to read how future historians write about the present day British Isles. What I have been convinced of since the 1960s is that sooner or later Scotland will secede from the British Union. The recent events only confirm that day draws, ever nearer. What I had never before countenanced was the idea of a United Ireland or an independent Wales. Those two events now also seem inevitable.The only thing I cannot give you on any of these occurrences is the timing of such events. Though I will say this, the way the present champions of Scottish Independence are fannying around, my money is on a United Ireland first! If England was a normal country, run by a democratic government instead of a crime syndicate I could be more specific on dates.They, of course, will try to delay these inevitable outcomes for as long as possible. England for its entire history has never been an independent nation. It has always needed other countries to support it. Their false sense of superiority is a front to cover their fear of standing on their own two feet without the Celtic crutch. Looking down on Celts makes the Anglo-British feel good about themselves.That is what happens when you have a narcissist for a neighbour!

At sometime in our lives we have all realised that we are in a broken relationship. Even our most accomplished athletes and sportsmen realise when something no longer is working as it used to be. Likewise, our greatest actors and entertainers just know when it is time to leave the boards and adulation before the cheers turned to jeers. At these times the hardest part in the process is acceptance that circumstances have changed, and a new direction is not only desirable but necessary.

Some similar comparisons could be made of the Union and its past glories. The ‘good days’ have long since gone. There is now no reason for Scotland, Wales or the six occupied counties of Ireland to be tied to a dead union.The reality is this was England’s Empire. It no longer exists. The Scots, Welsh, Irish, all participated and many did rather well out of the conquests, slavery and pillage. However from the day The Norman’s arrived from France and colonised England then the rest of the British Isles the English, due in large part to advantage of numbers were the instigators and planners and the power behind the empire. We Celts participated and many prospered, however it was never our empire and our role was very much as second rate pawns of Mother England and that of cannon fodder.

At its height, the British empire for over a century was the foremost global power, the largest empire, the world had ever known. By 1913, the British Empire held sway over 412 million people, 23% of the world population at the time, and by 1920, it covered 35,500,000 km2 (13,700,000 Sq.mi),24% of the Earth’s total land area.

Greed by the few, two world wars and a changing world order brought about the slow death of this empire. The irony is the First World War which began the demise of England’s Imperial ambitions was avoidable. Britain and its Empire could have remained neutral. When they did enter the conflict it was as a defence of its economic interests and had nothing to do with defending the ordinary man or any sense of democracy or right. The worry was Germany would overwhelm France rather easily and with victory it would control France’s empire and threaten England’s. The sensible course of action would have been to stand aside and let the European major powers knock 6 bells of shit out of each other then step in at the end. It is exactly what the USA did. At the end of the war in 1918, the Americans were still traversing their vast nation on horseback over dirt roads and virgin ground. Just a mere 51 years later the Americans were walking on the moon. Meanwhile, in the UK in 1969 Brits were facing yet another decline in living standards and one financial crisis after another. The tightening of those working class belts by another notch was a regular occurrence during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. At the same time the British Empire had shrunk to a few South Sea and Indian Ocean islands and a handful of British Protectorates.These remain today and are used as tax avoiding safe havens for the wealthy, of England and the crime laden money laundering that emanates from London.

The first world War was a costly endeavour and it was followed shortly after by a Global Depression. A mere 20 years later the world once more fell into another global war. The cost was even greater for UK/GB. Again the USA kept out of the conflict for as long as it possibly could. During this time it profited greatly from the efforts and difficulties of others.

Post WWII was the time when the UK needed to reform not just the Welfare State as Atlee’s Government managed. The Union that had existed since imperial times needed massive reform. I have often expressed my admiration for all Atlee’s Labour Government achieved. Since the demise of that great government in 1951, just like the British Union, the Labour Party has been in terminal decline. It formally ceased to exist 29th April 1995 when Blair scrapped Clause IV.

I have often wondered if Atlee had won re-election in October 1951 if he would have been as radical on our method of governance as he had been on social welfare. We shall never know, the people of UK instead returned to the Tories. In allowing the war criminal Churchill and his renegade Tories back into power any chance of reform was lost. The Union could have been saved back then, now it is too late.The Westminster Governance is an outmoded undemocratic cesspit that still functions as if a global imperial parliament. Many of the members of this most exclusive London gentleman’s club still believe Britannia rules the waves. The reality is of course, completely the opposite.

An unelected head of state as well as an unelected second chamber, crammed full of party Toadies and donors. A voting system that ensures a two party autocracy with no room for change or minority views. The voices and votes of Scotland and Wales always overwhelmed and defeated by the majority English votes. It is to all intents and purposes an English Parliament for a shrunken English Empire. The governance and modus operandi is the exact same as in 1920. Exploitation, corruption, nepotism, theft, no rule of law and no democracy for the controlled colonies. Be in no doubt, Scotland, Wales and the occupied six counties of Ireland are nothing more than English Colonies. There has never been a single piece of legislation passed through Westminster that has been to the detriment of England and to the benefit of the Celtic nations. Before anyone dares to mention devolution, understand this, devolution was brought forward as a means to control the colonies for England’s benefit not to improve the democracy or lives of the Celtic nations. Now that devolution is exposing English rule as incompetent and corrupt, not fit for purpose the English Parliament and its criminal MPs are about to hobble the Celtic nations.

We have all heard about the power grab and the first moves are already in play with the powers returning from Brussels being given to England’s Parliament while ignoring the wishes of the Celtic Parliaments and voters. In Edinburgh 3,000 UK Government Civil Servants are in place in a latter day British Governors Residence in Leith. A wimpish rather unintelligent Tory Branch Manager has been removed and an equally dim, but racist bully has been parachuted in from London. His remit is to talk down his nation of birth at all times and carry out any actions that will benefit Mother England.

Yet for all the bluster and maneuverings the Union and England itself has never been weaker. Now in the 21st century there is no massive fleet to blockade our ports. There is no modern equipped huge English army to place on our border to threaten us. Indeed, the only weapon Westminster has is fear. What we in Scotland need now is bold leadership and action. The time has come to lay down a marker. The SNP needs to declare next May’s Scottish General Election a plebiscite on Independence. Then it is the job of the YES Movement and SNP to ensure that 50% + of all votes cast are in favour of Scottish Independence. There is no such thing in the unwritten constitution of UK as an illegal referendum. People need to understand a Section 30 only means that both Governments will recognise and respect the outcome of any vote. Legal moves already underway may make a Section 30 unnecessary. Whatever the results of the court case we need to go ahead and receive the endorsement from the sovereign people of Scotland. A convincing victory may not be recognised by the undemocratic Westminster however it is what the other governments of the world think and do that has to be our biggest concern. From now till May we need to be sending envoys far and wide to garner support for our actions. We as individuals and as a collective need to work harder than ever to ensure a huge victory in May.

It is time for the SNP Scottish Government to be in control of events not reacting to events. We have only one First Minister however we have another 60 MSPs and 48 MPs I am sure they can be set to work on the Independence plan while Nicola fronts the Covid response. All other matters are periphery and distractions from our main goal. Time to ditch what divides us and unite behind the banner of independence!
