Very interesting podcast, BB. I wish David Henry luck in his quest to turn things around. It just shows how quickly a party can become bogged down by entrenched views of one clique. Like you, I am no longer a member, but my heart is still with the SNP.
That was such a good podcast, Roddy! I thoroughly enjoyed listening to David! As I switched on, I thought “I don’t know this chap. I wonder what he has to say about things?” By the end, I was saying to OH, “This chap HAS TO become the new Party Secretary!” I was so impressed by what he had to say!
I very much liked the changes he proposes to the NEC! And while a new broom sweeping the whole kit & cabootle out the door seems like the right thing to do just now, David seems to have a much kinder way of doing things, both respectfully & giving due credit to those trying to make some order out of the chaos present in the Committee at the moment. He’s just what the doctor ordered for clearing out that shower of young idiots presently illegally manipulating things to get their own way & their own careers lined up!
I really like David’s attitude that we have to change things if SNP are going to stop losing their very valuable support structure (the activists)! He recognises that activists are a very important part of the structure and the leaching of their membership over this NEC debacle will be their undoing if they persist in putting favoured policy before core raison d’etre! David seems to be able to hit a good balance in getting rid of dead wood but not throwing the baby out with the bathwater, if you’ll pardon my mixed metaphors. Hopefully you know what I mean! LOL!
I was also impressed by his words re the missing funds. He is right. If the funds were used to pay for two snap elections, then – it seems to me the SNP have to own up to using them for other purposes. We’d respect them more for being open about it – and I think, like David himself, people might feel more inclined to put their hands in their pockets for this one last throw of the dice – and move to Indy. But unless they’re willing to be honest, SNP will simply cause people to remove their memberships. I’m sure I’m not the only person wondering if it is this reluctance to have to admit where the money went, that is at the back of not moving on a method of Indy. Because there’s simply NO FUNDS for it. Continually waiting on a Sec.30 WON’T make the money reappear! Better to come clean about it, so it can be sorted & the funding topped back up! Though whether folks could trust it would be used for Indy, well… that’s another story… But the question pf where the money is or how it has been spent, HAS TO BE answered at some point, and given there’s now a Court case abt it in the mix, I’m going to say it would be better to ADMIT to it now, than be shoddily brought out newspaper articles written by our pals & supporters of the MSM! Exactly! THEY ARE NOT OUR PALS.
David is determined to sort things. I LIKE that! He’s determined to push people to sort out the mess in the party & move SNP forward & I think he has the drive, the intelligence & the ability to do that! I really hope he gets elected to post!
Thanks Roddy! I hope you’ll have David on again! I enjoyed listening to his views, his ideas & his stories! A real pleasure listening to you both! Thank you again!
Excellent interview and so, so to the point. With people like David, there is a chink of light for the SNP., If they throw up this chance then there is no alternative other than a new party.
Firstly Roddy thank you for inviting me to do the podcast. I have had a lot of emails from all over Scotland even a a couple from members in the London branch. Who need’s BBC Scotland?
I have tried to reply to everyone who has contacted me dozens and dozens of them almost lost count. One common theme is coming through loud and clear. A need for transparency and fairness. I hope to be able to deliver both.
Thank you to everyone who has been in contact. The Transparency resolution was submitted to the Conference Committee. If ever there was a need to see a resolution put to conference it’s this one.
I am ex-SNP and left because of my perception of a party now riddled with careerists and chancers. “The Iron Law of Oligarchy” is now in operation. National Council which was a guarantee of some democratic control has gone ans has been replaced by the NEC.

I’m having a problem accessing Dave’s website. Want to give him my vote.
JD.
His email is dhenry@rapturetv.com
It costs £100,000 to run a by-election according to Ian Henderson at Party HQ.
Pish I would say.
That amount would vastly exceed the permitted expenditure limit for a by-election – maybe £12-15k if I recall correctly
Many thanks. I was successful this time.
Janice.
