Liberate Scotland Calls for Unity and Bold Action in the Fight for Scottish Independence

In a decisive moment for Scotland’s future, Liberate Scotland is calling on all supporters of self-determination to rally behind a singular, unwavering pro-independence movement. With recent developments indicating that the Scottish National Party (SNP) has ruled out holding an independence convention in 2025—a move seen by many as a setback for the independence cause—the time has come for a new, united front to lead Scotland towards self-determination.

SNP, historically the leading pro-independence party, has announced plans that suggest Scotland will remain within the British Union for the foreseeable future. This stance has disappointed countless Scots who believe in the fundamental right of their nation to determine its own future free from Westminster’s control. The SNP’s refusal to hold a dedicated independence convention signals a shift away from active campaigning for independence, and many see it as a defeatist approach that risks stalling Scotland’s aspirations for self-rule.

Liberate Scotland firmly rejects the SNP’s defeatist approach and condemns their reluctance to pursue an independence convention as a missed opportunity—a betrayal of the aspirations of the Scottish people. We believe that Scotland’s future should not be subject to the whims of political hesitation or strategic compromises. Instead, we advocate for a bold, unequivocal push for independence—one that unites all pro-independence voices under a single banner and a clear, uncompromising vision.

Our message is simple: it is time to turn the upcoming Holyrood election in May 2026 into a decisive referendum on Scotland’s independence. We call for this election to be transformed into a plebiscite—an unmistakable mandate from the Scottish people to break free from the constraints of the British Union and to chart a new course as an independent nation.

Why Liberate Scotland?

Liberate Scotland stands as the only credible pro-independence party committed to uniting the entire independence movement. Unlike other parties, we are dedicated to putting independence at the heart of our campaign, with a focused and straightforward manifesto that leaves no room for ambiguity: independence, nothing else.

Our vision is rooted in the belief that Scotland’s future should be dictated solely by its people. We understand that the path to independence requires courage, clarity, and unity. That is why we are calling on Scots across the country—regardless of background, political affiliation, or previous voting history—to stand with us in this historic moment.

A Clear and Uncompromising Platform

Our manifesto for the 2026 Holyrood election will be a bold declaration of independence. It will serve as a mandate, a clear signal to Westminster that the Scottish people are ready to take control of their own destiny. We will prioritise issues that matter most to Scots: economic sovereignty, control over natural resources, education, healthcare, and social justice—all underpinned by a commitment to self-determination.

The election will not merely be a vote for a party; it will be a referendum—a direct expression of Scotland’s desire to become an independent nation, free from the shackles of Westminster’s rule.

We urge all Scots who believe in self-determination, democracy, and the right of nations to choose their future to mobilize behind Liberate Scotland. The time for hesitation is over. The time for decisive action is now.

Together, we can ensure that Scotland’s voice is heard loud and clear in May 2026. We can turn this election into a historic milestone—a true referendum on independence that leaves no doubt about Scotland’s future direction.

Liberate Scotland invites all supporters to stand with us in this vital campaign. Whether you are a long-time supporter or new to the cause, your voice matters. Together, we can forge a path toward independence and secure a brighter future for generations to come.

Conclusion

The SNP’s rejection of an independence convention in 2025 underscores the urgent need for a new direction. Liberate Scotland is ready to lead that charge—uniting the Scottish people behind a single, clear call for independence. We believe in the power of democracy, the strength of unity, and the right of Scotland to determine its own future.

As we approach the 2026 Holyrood election, let us make history. Let us turn the page toward independence. Let us stand together for Scotland’s future.

  • While I absolutely agree with all you say here I confess to some confusion. I understood Liberate Scotland was an umbrella group (not a political party) for all pro Independence parties and individuals.
I4I, ISP, Sovereignty etc with the idea of standing only one pro Indy candidate in each constituency. It is available for the SNP to join too (though as things stand they are a million miles from being part of this!)
Please correct me if I’m wrong.

  • Just to be clear- is Liberate Scotland going to be a registered political party or an umbrella for political parties?

  • Hi Roddy, was wondering if any chance of getting the New Scotland Party,Alba and others too agree to join the movement, the more the better.New Scotland Party is a one member party. It also does not vrlueve in fighting elections

    • Our door is always open to any genuine independence party. Alba were invited in the beginning ,however as is their right they declined to be part of the coalition.
