If you are thinking about voting Labour in May because Anas Sarwar is now claiming he’ll “stop men using women only spaces”, then hear this clearly, because it matters, you are being lied to, deliberately, knowingly and with utter contempt for your intelligence. This isn’t confusion, this isn’t nuance, this is a political con, rolled out because Labour know voters are waking up.

Anas Sarwar did not accidentally end up on the wrong side of this issue, he whipped his MSPs to vote FOR the Gender Recognition Reform Bill, he forced it through knowing exactly what it did. That bill enshrined self ID, stripped away medical safeguards and gave men legal rights to access women only spaces on the basis of declaration alone and when concerns were raised by women, by parents, by safeguarding experts Sarwar didn’t listen, he dismissed them he parroted the slogan, “Trans women are women”, end of debate, consequences be damned.

Now, suddenly, weeks before an election, he wants you to believe he’s had a moral awakening, No, what he’s had is a polling panic.

If you believe this pivot is sincere, ask yourself one question, why should anyone trust a man who is now promising to stop something he personally voted to introduce?

This is Labour’s way, always has been, always will be.

The same Labour culture that produced David Lammy, standing in public and claiming that trans women could grow a cervix, not a joke, not a slip of the tongue, a serious statement from a senior Labour figure. That wasn’t compassion, it was ideology so divorced from reality that women’s bodies became an optional inconvenient detail and Labour circled the wagons because that’s what they do, close ranks, deny reality and gaslight anyone who objects and now they want you to believe this party will protect women and girls.

Then there’s austerity. Remember that? Sarwar stood at a husting and said, “Watch my lips no austerity under Labour.” crystal clear, no wriggle room, Labour got elected and austerity didn’t just continue, it went into overdrive, children’s services slashed, care for the elderly hollowed out, low paid workers squeezed until there was nothing left to squeeze, Labour didn’t struggle with that decision Labour chose to do it after promising the exact opposite.

He told people to vote Labour to save Grangemouth, people trusted him, labour won, Grangemouth closed, jobs gone, communities thrown on the scrapheap and suddenly the promises evaporated, replaced by excuses and shrugging shoulders, that wasn’t betrayal by accident it was betrayal by design.

Ask the WASPI women how Labour treats promises once the ballot boxes are sealed, used when useful ignored when inconvenient, justice kicked into the long grass while Labour ministers talk about “fiscal realities” they somehow never mentioned during campaigns.

And let’s tear away one more illusion, because it matters, Anas Sarwar likes to present himself as the leader of something called the “Scottish Labour Party”, it does not exist. There is no political party registered under that name, what exists is an accounting unit of the Labour Party registered in England, bound by its constitution, its rules, and its leadership, led by the Prime Minister, Keir Starmer. Sarwar does not have autonomy, he does not have power, he does not get to defy Westminster even if Scotland is screaming for it.

So, when Labour says, “Vote for us to punish the SNP,” understand what they’re really offering, total Westminster control. Same system, same lies, same post election amnesia.

But here’s what scares them, really scares them, you no longer have to vote Labour to reject the SNP, that lie is finished because there is now a genuine alternative, not managed by London, not whipped by Westminster, not rewriting its principles every time an opinion poll twitches.

That alternative is the Alliance to Liberate Scotland.

The Alliance exists because people are done with being treated like fools, it exists to protect women’s and children’s rights without cowardly language or ideological capture, it exists to stand up to Westminster, not bow to it, it exists because Scotland deserves honesty, not stage-managed reversals and election time lies.

This election is not about party loyalty, it’s about self-respect. If you vote Labour in May on the basis of promises Anas Sarwar has already broken, you are not voting for change or safety for woman and children, you are consenting to be lied too again.

Scotland deserves better.

Women deserve truth.

Children deserve protection.

And for the first time in a long time, there is a movement that actually means it. Alliance to Liberate Scotland.
