Webcom Radio is Now Playing: Paranoid Visions - 85/25 - Single - Cudda Wudda Shudda

Yestival September, 18th Freedom Sq. Glasgow.

For several years now this blog has been pleading for unity of purpose and action on our independence. The main frustrations within the YES Movement stem from the lack of action on our cause for the past eight years. It is one of the main factors in us now having three Independence parties, when for 86 years there had only ever been one, the SNP.

Recently more and more people have been asking for more information on ways and means to gain our independence. Salvo and SSRG have held very successful seminars and roadshows explaining how The Treaty of Union and Claim of Right can be tools used to unlock the rebirth of our nation. The Alba Party has been touring the country with its Wee Alba Blue Book. Alex Salmond has had full houses wherever he has taken the message. YES street stalls are starting to be seen again on High Streets.

There is a thirst for knowledge and action from the people of Scotland. Sadly our politicians in Holyrood and Westminster seem to be doing nothing to advance our cause. A case in point being last weekend YES Perth held an event in the beautiful city centre. The feedback from those there confirmed lots of interest and people wanting to know if the SNP proposed referendum would take place on 19th October 2023 as promised. While this event was taking place, the local SNP MP was nowhere to be seen. He had decided that a Pride Event in Perth was more worthy of his attention than anything to do with independence. He wasn’t scared to show off his priorities either.

We are in the middle of an energy crisis in Scotland. We have an abundance of energy so much in fact the neighbouring nation of England takes 25% of its electricity from us and then overcharges us for the pleasure to boot! We have bills about to land that will be double and treble what they were last year. There is worse to come in October when the new tariffs appear. Many Scots will literally have to think about eat or heat this winter! Even more concerning is the fact that many people will just be unable to pay these exorbitant energy costs. Our fellow Scots are being driven into poverty in energy rich Scotland by the Government in England.

It is scandalous in Scotland where we produce so much and gain so little from our own natural resources. This price hike has been exacerbated by the war in Ukraine. However, price hikes were already on the way as the government in England lifted the price cap to appease their spivs in the city and hedge funds with their insatiable need for more and more profits!

As England suffers yet another drought, the rumours have already begun circulating again that Westminster requires a national grid for this precious commodity called water. Without elaborating too much, there is more water in Loch Ness than all the other lochs, lakes reservoirs in all of the British mainland. It doesn’t take a genius to work out what is going to happen next.

While this is all going on you would expect our leaders to be working flat out on gaining us our independence so we can address our internal problems ourselves. Sadly, the reality is different. The First Minister and leader of the SNP has been spending the summer, seal watching, reviewing her pals latest novel. Having cosy chats with Unionist stalwart Ian Dale at a sparsely attended Edinburgh Festival Fringe event. She has also given a fluff interview with accompanying stage managed photo shoot to Libby Brooks of the Guardian titled, The world is my oyster. Well lucky old you Nicola!

Our Westminster leader sent us some lovely pictures from his holiday at the Grand Canyon while his constituents are tottering on the abyss of energy poverty and real poverty! None of our elected representatives seem in any rush to end the union any time soon. They are having a great time on huge salaries and expenses while half the population is looking at ways to reduce their outgoings and just keep a roof over their head!.

What we have noticed in the comments to my blogs and my podcasts is a desire for the people to see some direct action towards our goal of independence. There is no doubt that the people are attuned to what is happening. When Ian Blackford removed his MPs from the Westminster chamber back in 2018, the SNP received a surge in new members. The exact same happened recently to the Alba Party when Neale Hanvey and Kenny MacasKill were kicked out of the chamber, a huge influx of new Alba members.

As I alluded to at the beginning SALVO, SSRG and Alba Wee Blue Book tour are being met with huge enthusiastic crowds. Therefore, as our elected politicians with a few exceptions are doing nothing then it is up to the grassroots to lead the way. In 2014 the YES Movement just sprang up it was not a creation of the politicians. Indeed, it put the wind up the politicians. They couldn’t control it and had to follow. There were no actual leaders, it was all just local heroes working on their own initiative and organising everything themselves. Town Hall meetings, street stalls, campaigning at local fetes and gala days.

That was when the politicians and the carpetbaggers took notice. They knew that if they didn’t reach out enthusiastically to this new phenomenon, the YES Movement they would be left behind. Many of the faces you see now as MPs were the same ones that gained their seats by hanging on to the coattails of the grassroots YES Campaigners. Many of them now block those same campaigners on social media.

The power of the grassroots cannot be emphasised enough. We have it within ourselves to make things at last begin to happen. The 250,000 marching on the streets of Edinburgh are now just a warm but distant memory. You may not have realised it but you were scaring the bejesus out of the establishment by attending these yes events in such numbers. By gathering, marching and speaking out we were showing the politicians we were mobilised and militant. Politicians fear the proletariat, never forget that. Look to France for inspiration. There the electricity costs are only rising by 4%, the gas price is frozen. French politicians rightly fear their voters! Scottish politicians, with noble exceptions ignore and block their voters!

We have had a global pandemic which curtailed such crowds assembling. That time has now passed and while we still have Covid, the gathering of people has now resumed unhindered. It is time to let our politicians as well as our judges and the entire British establishment know that the Scottish people are once more agitating for our democratic wishes. They also need to understand we will not be taking no for an answer.

Our politicians in Edinburgh need to be reminded who is in charge and why we elected them. They have one job and one job only Scottish independence! The ones at Westminster we elected need to know the same. The MPs of another country we didn’t elect need to know Scotland’s form of Government is none of their business it is only our business!

Those of us that are the most politically active need to begin the campaigning again. We have a great opportunity coming our way on 18th September at Freedom Square, Glasgow. Yestival are holding an independence gathering on that day. Music, speeches by people from numerous parties and none will be there to inform and enthuse you. It is an ideal opportunity for us to make a statement that is noted not just in Scotland but throughout these islands and beyond. A few hundred turning up won’t send that message. That is why it is imperative everyone of us who can be there, is there!

You should also be aware that the Supreme Court meets to hear the Section 30 request just three weeks after Yestival. They too need a message from the Scottish people!

We need to get the movement up and going again. We have lain dormant too long. The politicians we entrusted with our cause have been too busy lapping up the good life at Holyrood and Westminster to bother with our independence. When they look out of their windows, they see nothing to endanger their idyllic highly paid jobs.It is time for us to change that!

Where they to hear of 3,4 or five or 10,000 independence campaigners gathering, singing and uniting in Glasgow demanding action on independence they will be spurred into action. Nothing gets politicians attention like a huge crowd of voters criticising them. The phrase in the meme below is true. It is time for us to fill the Scottish and UK Governments with a bit of fear. They work for us, not the other way around. The SNP MPs that we sent to Westminster have settled down not up and they need a wake up call. They need to be reminded we put them in and we can just as easily vote them out. The British Government needs to be pointed towards Scotland’s Claim of Right and made to realise that in a parliamentary democracy mandates given by the Scottish people to their elected representatives cannot he ignored!

If Scotland and its people truly want independence then they need to do it for themselves. We have given the independence party eight years to get us free! They have failed to move us any closer then we were on 19th September 2014. As the Bruce said,’ Get out of my way spider I have work to do!’

it is now up to ourselves to get our nation free. That begins on September 18th at George Square with Yestival. If we cannot fill the square then our enemies will think we are not serious and continue to rape and pillage our nation. When you arrive at the square, you are also carrying the hopes and future of the dispossessed, the impoverished and the disenfranchised. You will bring fear to those that are holding our nation back and down.

Between now and then it is up to every one of us to ensure everybody we know is made aware of this event and its significance to our cause. All try to bring an extra person along and encourage them to do the same. Whatever your political party, encourage and inform your branches and LACUs to attend in numbers.Run buses, make it a great day out and do something for your nation at the same time. Use the # Yestival whenever you can. Let us make this an event that is the catalyst to finally get our campaign back in full swing as campaigners for independence.

It is time for us to rely on ourselves, others have proved themselves unworthy of our trust.

It is time to get the band together again!

See you there!

  • The Dugdale / Gilruth hoosehold increased its income this year by £99k. They’re now grossing circa £250k per annum.
Them’s the rewards of colonial administration.
They’ll no be fretting over increased utility bills.

  • In fairness to Pete Wishart, Roddy, and with my Yes Perth City hat on, we saw our efforts as a purely grassroots undertaking (in common with all other events that were part of the Believe in Scotland Day of Action), so we didn’t invite ANY parliamentarians to take part. That may well change if/when we have a definite process in place and the final campaign is on, but that’s where we are at the moment.
None of our volunteers that I spoke to at the weekend was in the slightest bothered where Pete was or what he was doing.

  • I had planned on being in your neck of the woods ie BCN at that time but rescheduled my visit when I heard about Yestival . This is too important to miss . We’ll be there 🙂

  • Yes, Roddy, you’re right. It’s important we let the politicians know we mean business. Only then will the cosy SNP ( apart from a few ) WAKE UP and start to fight FOR THE PEOPLE. Sturgeon & Co must be made to listen or GET OUT!

Imagine a free Scotland led by people who actually care!!

  • Its hardly likely any serious Parliamentarians will have anything to do with “Believe in Scotland” the Fake Propaganda Websites big day oot FFS 🙂 which maybe will leave just Angus McNeil

Doesn’t look like other matters are going too well either, its hilariously funny that the number of Yessers replying to this are just doing so with more invented BS propaganda and invented fantasy memes……is it all they have too ?
How much longer do you think it will take now for those with some brain cells to realise that the whole thing is no more than a deliberate Con trick on the people of Scotland to merely try to keep the SNP’s own top table Elites in power alone ?

I had thought Sturgeon’s latest favourite Economist had actually known what he was previously talking about , now it seems he didn’t have any real clue either.

  • The 2014referendim result put the wind up the establishment. The utter enthusiasm of the Yes movement did too. Ditto the subsequent huge independence marches.

This is what the establishment fear. A nation motivated to recover it sovereignty, its independence, cannot be stopped.

The English know that. They lost their Empire. They will lose Scotland despite all of their machinations.

Let’s be in George Square on the 18th September 2022
