Through A Scottish Prism. 24/09/23

FROM NOON SUNDAY.

In the same week of the ninth anniversary of our Independence Referendum, the panel discusses where our movement is today. Have we advanced, regressed or marked time? Is it a sign of the times that while daily we look for ways to advance our independence cause that the SNP Scottish Government are at the Court of Session trying to advance the cause of men’s ‘feelings’ by appealing the Section 35 against the loathed GRRB?

We discuss the latest deranged outburst from Maggie Chapman and debate whether keeping parents uninformed regarding any sex related issues with their children is conducive to good protection for kids?

Women Won’t Wheesht event in Rutherglen cancelled by woke pressure and then reinstated by public outrage. We discuss all the implications surrounding this event.

As numerous SNP worthies announce on social media their success at becoming approved candidates we question how one future Westminster hopeful passed vetting when they have publicly stated that they do not support independence and are content with devolution.

We note that it was also announced on social media that seven posts on future SNP NEC remain devoid of applicants. Perhaps because these posts involve commitment, hard work, vision and loyalty and means that those elected are not able to access any gravy for all their effort?

Meanwhile, Humza is in New York playing at Political Upstairs Downstairs, while leaders of independent countries are upstairs talking about the important things poor Humza like the Lord and Ladies flunkie is downstairs with the other servants of the rulers prittle prattling.

We also discuss the report out this week regarding the tram fiasco in Edinburgh.

The government once again talking about affordable homes as a solution to our housing crisis. We ask what price is affordable, and who gets to decide the affordable price?

The British Labour Party once more confirming when in government they will never devolve employment law or grant a referendum. We ask why would any Scot vote for that?

Lastly, we discuss the outrage and trial by media of Russell Brand. We make no comments on the allegations, or his innocence or guilt, instead, we ask should the media and government be allowed to comment so openly before a court has decided the facts from the accusations? We have seen this sort of smearing and wild claims before!

All this and much more on your favourite Scottish Political Review podcast.

  • What happened to the Stirling Directive presented to Rood.
Noone of note accepted or acknowledged its arrival.
    Handed to security.
It’s like the age old English obfuscation, unless I have been appointed I’m not able to accept it.
The mistake they made when they all knew it was coming and dived down their rat holes .
The Stirling Directive is not ideologically driven
It is from those that are in a higher authority, “the Sovereign Scots citizens”
The biggest mistake , they ran away.
    Instead of embracing it.
    What a shower.

    • Perhaps if the people that lead Salvo had organised a sympathetic MSP and pre arranged the handover at the Parliament it might have received some traction and some publicity. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge about Holyrood and Scottish politics in general would have known that you cannot just rock up to Holyrood and have your petition or whatever it is accepted. It is not like No 10 where you can just arrive and have a flunkie take your petition in. Amateurish by your leadership to say the least. I would suggest you take your complaint to those that profess to have all the answers in Salvo and insist that the rest of us are apparently not as wise as them! This fiasco would suggest they are not half as smart as they think or say.

      • TBQH Roddy I think your response to Ken Coutts was petty and very condescending , I watch the prism every time it is on and the call for unity and solidarity is admirable but is THAT unity only to be extended to those that you deem fit , Alex Salmond and others within the ALBA party yourself included have been calling for unity to progress independence, your snide asides about SALVO and Liberation.Scot indicates that you are not sincere about inclusion
It is unbelievable that the ongoing begging for unity towards a party who have shown total and utter contempt for Scotland and Scots and have deliberately sabotaged our road to independence should take precedence over a group of genuine fellow Scots who are trying their utmost to expose the lies and corruption of our colonisers . NO one was talking about the colonisation of Scotland before Sara Salyers not Alex Salmond or any other politician supposedly desperate for independence , maybe if it had been widely publicly discussed prior to 2014 and people had felt encouraged to believe they were sovereign we may now be free

Your comments appear to mirror what the snp zombies complain about ALBA, that all they do is criticise the snp (with complete justification) I can find no reasonable justification for alienating or demeaning genuine fighting independence supporting colleagues

        • Scotland United is about political parties uniting at the ballot box it is not anything else. Salvo have said they are not a political party, nor do they have any intentions of becoming one or are you now telling me that has changed and they wish to be a political party? That would explain branches and office bearers in same.
I have never said to anybody they should not join, believe or promote Salvo nor have I ever attacked anyone personally in the way Salvo leaders have personally attacked me.Nor have I said these are egotistical cranks give them a wide berth. I have never said they should fold or not exist. I personally just do not see it as anything more than a distraction from the road to independence which is the ballot box.The only other option is the gun and none of us wants that!
No nation has ever won its freedom in a courtroom. Nor does Scotland’s future rest on a court ruling or a UN decision! That is for the birds!
          1. Why don’t I support and promote it?
Simple, I do not see it as integral to ballot box success. Yes it is a good organisation to educate our people, nothing more. Same as I do not promote SSRG. As I have stated SSRG do valuable work explaining to Scots the implications of TOU and COR. Indeed, they were doing this long before Salvo appeared on the scene.

Secondly and more importantly I, like so many others have no real idea what SALVO are about. That is the problem, I dont think Salvo knows what it is about!
It started out with ‘We are going to sack the government.’ Then we had we are going to UN to get them ruling on COR. Then it was we are going to ICJ to get a ruling on referendums. From Salvo we then started getting off spins like Salvo Core, then no we are a ‘Liberation’ a Movement to get global recognition. Then we got the Stirling Directive. Then it was announced they were challenging the legality of Freeports. Not forgetting they are also all about juryless trials! We also heard how we could sack the king.So what is it today? Every day it seems the remit and core changes whenever a ‘new’ piece of information is ‘discovered or someone wakes up with another cracking idea!’
You seem to be forgetting that at one point and on several occasions Salvo leaders expressed that there was no need for political parties, then backtracked! There have also been multiple attacks on Alba by Salvo members along the same lines as this from you, ‘YOU MUST BELIEVE!’ No we do do not!

Then I was asked why nobody accepted their Stirling Directive at Holyrood.
Simple anyone in the know is aware you cannot just turn up at Holyrood and hand in petitions etc. I explained that if they had pre arranged a sympathetic MSP and told the media they might have had some success. The leaders should have known HR is not like No 10 where you can walk up Downing St and hand in petitions etc. All good theatre but ineffective. Winning elections moves the dial, nothing else!
So if facts are condescending then I am guilty.
Lastly on three separate occasions Salvo supporters have targeted me here and on social media and also tried on 3 occasions to have me disciplined by Alba, because I refuse to believe!. Then you and others ask me to back them, really?

Whether this targetting has been coordinated or not, I am unsure. Last time for 12 days solid I had dogs abuse from Salvo supporters especially on Twitter, because I do not drink the Salvo cool aid. It has no effect on me apart from deflecting me from fighting unionism to fending off Salvo zealots instead! I was silent the last time everyone told me that someone had a cunning secret plan and I should believe and we know how that turned out. I swore I would never make that mistake again.
Also wheneverI have asked simple questions re any of the above like How will you ? When will you? it is met with waffle and gobbledeygook.Indeed, early on I devoted two Prism Shows to get an understanding of the ethos and those shows were punctured with deflection, waffle and obfuscation.I decided then to merely discount it from my efforts. It was those in charge that decided I had to believe.

Lastly if Salvo so believe in unity and their worth and they want to be included in everything independence why is Colette struggling for workers in RHW? Surely the leaders of Salvo and the true believers are there spreading the Salvo word to the voters to prove its worth to the rest of those non believers like me?
Referring to me as like an SNP zombie will really help me and others change our minds and see the Salvo light! Personal abuse seems to be part of the Salvo believers armoury. On line abuse is that how Salvo intend getting us independence by bad mouthing non believers?

          • Great edition , as ever , Roddy & guests .

A couple of points ……I’m inclined to agree with our friend , Twathater , above . Not so much in the detail of his critique of your relations with Salvo – you answered those pretty convincingly , but in his broader point about what seems to him – and myself – like unnecessary hostility to a group of people who , as far as I can discern , are 100% committed to progressing our cause . You say you have been the object of hostility from them and – despite not being on Twitter therefore not a witness to this , I don’t doubt the veracity of what you say ; but it all seems so unproductively fractious , at a time when the call for a Scotland United should include every GENUINELY pro-Independence group ; coming from different angles but working in unison to break through the inertia that has depleted the energy of our movement . We need less nettles , and more olive branches .

I’m a big * fan * of Yvonne , but ….. ” Only Alex Salmond can lead us to freedom ( paraphrase ) ” : really , ONLY Alex ? Not only is that placing an awful lot of pressure on one man , it doesn’t say much about anyone around ALBA or within the wider pro-Independence orbit , that none of them can be considered as possible contenders for that role . Maybe Yvonne meant the ” best …….” – rather than the only ? I even have reservations about that . Rather , I would completely agree Alex is the best candidate to lead the drive to Independence IF we didn’t have the worse , compromised , untruthful ,utterly partisan MSM & Political Commentariat possible ; we do though , and the – criminally manufactured – charges that were made against him still appear to be doing their intended damage – to the public perception of him and his chances of regaining anything like his former prominence . A totally undeserved aberration , but that’s how it is . The only thing that could , maybe , change this is the full exposure of the conspiracy against him and the chances of that are receding into wild improbability .
If , for whatever reason , the leadership of ALBA ever becomes vacant our Eva* would/should be a serious contender for that role .

            * good to meet you – however briefly – @ the HOF rally Saturday before last , Eva . I was the ” Robert ” who introduced himself as such πŸ™‚

          • You are of course, Robert entitled to agree or disagree with anything or anyone. That is actually my point! I never refer to or bring up the topic of Salvo.I only respond when random people come on here or my YouTube or Twitter accounts and TELL ME I need to support an organisation that has trashed me personally, my party and other individuals in that party. As I stated in my reply to Twathater Salvo seems to have a different USP every second day. When they refine their message perhaps that might change.I tend to ignore it much in the same way as I ignore the Scottish Resistance. Likewise, I do not tell anyone that they too should follow my lead and ignore either org. When Twathater refers to me as ‘like an SNP Zombie’ because unlike him I do not see how Salvo in any constructive way will bring us independence, I am not enthused to change my mind with the constant snide and abusive terms thrown at me by the Salvo cool aid drinkers.

          • In relation to personal abuse if you read my comment you will see that I was responding to your comment about SALVO , it is obvious from your response that you hold no faith in other methods of unity or any other way to unify the grass roots of the movement to move forward , it is also obvious from your comments that your way is the only way that it will be acceptable to be included in the independence movement
I have no knowledge of personal abuse directed at you or anyone within ALBA from any of the hierarchy within SALVO , Liberation.Scot or the SSRG , I personally believe that ALL politicians have deliberately avoided mentioning or publicising the COR and the sovereignty of Scots until Sara Salyers openly brought it into the light at the ALBA convention , which received a tumultuous response
Your assertion that only politicians will bring us independence has not been working very well for us Scots and quite honestly it is those same politicians who HAVE and still ARE sabotaging our way forward
You previously supported a restriction on the constitutional franchise for a referendum on independence , a franchise agreed to by Alex Salmond who still INSISTS that that franchise will be the one used if ever we were to have another referendum, do you still support that restriction or should Scottish citizens be dictated to , exemplified by the current debacle running the Scottish government

Politicians are not in charge Scottish citizens are but it is politicians who are blocking our way and that will continue as long as they hold all the power

I respect your views on independence and the faith that you have in politicians, unfortunately I do not share them, having lived for 72 years under many political parties and politicians I have experienced the lies and corruption visited deliberately on our people daily

          • You said, Your comments appear to mirror what the snp zombies complain about ALBA. Your comment has the implication being that I am both a Zombie and a hypocrite. You are now wanting to talk about referendum franchises and because Alex Salmond has stated his position you think what exactly? I will agree with him? I don’t nor on that will I ever. My position has always been quite clear I do not think the Local Authority voters roll is fit for purpose for any constitutional vote. I also actually have always opposed referendum as a route to indy post 2014. It was always obvious after 2014 no English PM would ever again agree to a Section 30.
I object that people arriving on a Monday into Scotland should be allowed to register for a constitutional vote by the following Friday. It is at present truly that simple. Nor do I believe military service personnel on secondment to Scotland should have a vote on any constitutional matter nor UK non Scottish born civil servants, nor Students who have a residence in another country. Nor holiday home owners or people on short term contracts. Nor people who are registered for tax purposes outwith Scotland. I think you will find your Salvo people think the same as me. I live in Catalonia and I have done so for 8 years I could live here 18 years or 280 years and never get a vote in a federal election or any other independence referendum, only at local elections,RIGHTLY SO!
As to my belief that only the ballot box will get us independence absolutely,100%
Unless you can tell me in detail ANY other way I will remain wedded to the idea of a democratic vote. I doubt you can tell us in detail any other way to gain independence except by the barrel of the gun and none of us wants that. I repeat again I do not tell you or anyone else what they must do or think or support. What do you think gives you the right to tell me what I must support or believe?
If the Scottish citizens are in charge and not the politicians as you say how do you prove that? How do you prove that the Scottish people want to end the union?
Tell me how Salvo can do another way unlike what a political party can do at the ballot box with an electoral event?
Tell me how you do it without a ballot box.
            I bet you cant!

          • “What do you think gives you the right to tell me what I must support or believe?”
I NEVER at any time told you who to support or what you must believe, I will reiterate, my initial comment was in reference to your disparaging language regarding a comment placed by another poster towards a group who are also trying desperately to move independence forward , I have noticed on this occasion and in past responses you have made to other people that you deliberately try to inflame the situation by making false accusations in an attempt to smear the person making the comment , I have read your blogs and watched your prism shows for ages and thoroughly enjoyed them and commented accordingly but your misrepresentation of my comment and need to claim superiority shows yourself in a different light
BTW there is no need to respond I know it is your blog and you will operate it accordingly

          • I think you need to go back and read your initial post if you think you didn’t tell me I needed to support Salvo and not support SNP in Scotland United. As to your other smear about me intentionally inflaming situations please show some examples. You would be correct that I do not tolerate liars, deniers, bullies or frauds and those that think I should think like them just because they read my blogs or watch my podcasts.I have given a very comprehensive explanation as to why I do not support Salvo, basically Salvo has never defined exactly what it is all about. They are like a honey bee in a wild flower meadow. From sacking the government to Freeports and Stirling Directive every day is a new magic bullet. I also note you are unable to tell me any other way than the ballot box that will lead to independence. This actually confirms that you too cannot define in detail what it is that Salvo actually champion. That in itself is not a bad thing as I pointed out they don’t even know what they are about. Here’s the deal if guys like you and Ken don’t mention Salvo neither will I.I never bring them up.

    • Ken, it’s Scots who refused to accept the Stirling Directive. Sometimes, there is nothing that you can do but up the ante. Women are gradually learning that, and so should Scots. In both cases, there exists a powerful interest in not changing the script. Women and Scots need to rip up the script now, and up the strakes. We all know that the Holyrood lot, many of them, are a waste of space, as are the Westminster lot, many of them, so we should not be expecting civility and co-operation from them.

Scottish sovereignty is the very last thing they want: a) they don’t understand it; b) they are too scared to push it; c) they are too busy looking after themselves to care about what happens to Scots. If it can’t be done with the minimum of effort, with no come-back and with as little knowledge as they can get away with, they are not interested. Even where advice and knowledge are offered, they turn away from them, so hell mend them.

Salvo/Liberation needs to make them interested. You want them stottin up and doon wi rage because you have corned them and they have no answer and the electorate can see the game of charades they play. In fact, don’t go to Holyrood. Go to the UN. Crowd fund to do it and make sure everyone in the world knows you have had to do it to present the truth about the Union to the United Nations. Make every opportunity one to let the world know what is happening. Better still, try to contact members of the Scottish diaspora through the various Scottish societies in the States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, etc… They all have lists of societies and members and politely ask them to back your enterprise. Be ruthless about getting publicity.

However, constitutional and legal rights alone will cut no ice at Westminster or Whitehall or even the UN, I suspect, and we must fight for our political rights at the same time. We need to win at the ballot box and declare UDI immediately thereafter, as every other country in the past 50 years and more has had to do.

  • For me and my above statement , it shows the contempt they have for the citizens.
    By their actions.
I’m sure an effort could have been made to
Meet and accept it. For Scotland.
    What A bunch of shysters.

  • Absolutely cracking Prism, BB. Agree with most points. No one should ever undergo trial by media, even Russell Brand and even though he tried to ruin others when they made allegations in the past.

I listened to the review for and against the use of the S35 Order, this past week, and, firstly, was extremely angry that Last Haldane, coincidentally, she of the ‘GRC can opened all doors to men in frocks’ ruling, which I consider to have been extremely flawed in law, would be hearing the evidence. The evidence (written) from the inventing groups – all ‘trans’ affiliated – was impossible to follow because it was not presented until after the review and must have left journalists, as well as the public, unable, basically, to really follow the evidence properly. It is the job of the judiciary, as well as the members of the Scottish Bar, to follow due diligence, but much of what was passed off as hard evidence was not fact, but opinion, and lacked proper, empirical status and logic. In Scotland, we really do need a total overhaul of our judicial system from a jurisprudential perspective. It felt as if Stonewall and its tentacles were making up the law as they went along instead of the evidence presented being based on actual, existing law. Appalling.

You are all quite correct: no one at the SNP listens to advice. Inexperienced and, often, incompetent, people are running Scotland. One thing I would like to point out, though, is that this ‘woke’ movement, specifically the ‘trans’ part of it, is causing almost as many problems in England. I think, without preaching, that we need to understand that this movement is a massive danger to everything we know, believe in and experience – which, God knows, is far from perfect. If we want to live in a social democracy, we need to understand that the ‘trans’ thing is just the advance guard. If we don’t halt it, much worse is to follow.

The ultimate aim is to undermine the West – not for socialism or Marxism, as the useful idiots believe – but for global corporatism, the next phase of unregulated capitalism, which is poised to take the next step which will involve reducing humanity to pawns on a chess board. In order to do that, and capture our children, they need women out of the way – not just pushed out, but actually erased.

Older females, in particular, are not prey to the variety of sexual urges by which means they can control a large part of the male population with more and harder porn, and with campaigning for men’s rights which, supposedly, women have removed. They are the ones that must be removed first, and, later, the younger ones will be trapped because they would not listen.

Males are also pawns in this game, just in a different way. I know it sounds insane and/or grossly hyperbolic, but the easy capture of all our institutions should dispel any doubt. We must not blame Westminster and Whitehall, or even the secret services, for all of this, because it is a mirror image of how the Nazis rose to power, manipulating the population and underplaying, at first, their real intentions. No way are these global corporatists going to allow the ‘trans’ lobby to exist once they have done the dirty work, especially the activists because they are mainly misguided, malevolent and, essentially, stupid, cultural Marxists/post modernists/queer theorists who believe they are creating a revolution. They are not: they are the vanguard for what is coming down the road; and then, they will become dispensable.

I have been an independence supporter for many, many years – since I was a child, really, and because I was politically aware at a very young age – but what is coming, if we let it, will obliterate Scottish independence, because, like women, we stand in the way of the new order (double whammy for many of the Scottish population). The corporatists need people to be homogenous, supine and without power. All totalitarian dictatorships require those ‘qualities’ of their populations, and global corporatism is a totalitarian dictatorship by any other name. Time is running out for us all.

  • Sorry: 2nd para, 2nd line – Lady Haldane; 2nd para, 3rd line – intervening group, though ‘inventing’ might have been a Freudian slip and more appropriate. My ‘new’ second-hand laptop is proving something of a sleekit wee opponent with its predictive text. You hear of road rage, but I get seat-in-front-of-the-laptop rage, Basil Fawlty-battering-his-car style.

  • Given the way our representatives in Westminsrer and Holyrood ignore the dangers and refuse to act, can I ask those on the panel or connected to SSRG to check the Institute for Governement website for their FInal reort on the Review of the UK Constitution. As this does not mention the Scottish concept of the Sovereignty of the People, I think we need to object quickly in case it is adopted by the UK gornment and pushed through on a vote while we are not looking. Otherwise, they could well argue that our soverignty has lapsed as we said nothing and has been suprceded byt the British idea of parliamentary sovereignty, which has partly caused the disaster we are now in.
Please act individually or through SSRG and ALBA as I think it is important not to let this be accepted
