Through A Scottish Prism 18/10/23 Two wrongs do not make a right.

Folks, I am sorry we are a little late today bringing you our midweek podcast. It has actually been quite a day. My two original guests at the last minute both had to withdraw from our planned broadcast. It had me scurrying about to quickly find replacements to ensure we brought you a midweek edition. Then to top it all my wee darling cat of 20 years sadly passed away. Those with pets will understand how devastating that is when the grim reaper comes calling.

However, as they say the show must go on! I am extremely grateful to both Yvonne Ridley and Craig Murray who both rode to the rescue with little notice. I should also say that both of these wonderful people are dealing with issues far more serious than my minor tribulations. Yet being the pros they are, they stepped in at the last minute.

Craig tells us off his trip to Iceland for a Free Julian Assange rally. Then he relates his subsequent arrest and questioning on returning to Glasgow Airport. I am sure you will be as horrified as I was as he tells us of the circumstances and questioning by the police.

We also discuss the tragedy unfolding in West Asia in Palestine. All three of us are peaceniks and try to portray as best as we can the horrors being visited on the peoples in Palestine. The title of this show is Two wrongs do not make a right. We stand by that in our opinion no death is justifiable whether that be a Palestinian death an Israeli, Yemeni, Ukrainian or Russian death. War is just plain wrong. Illegally occupying another country is equally wrong. War crimes are war crimes. We call out those warmongers and peddlers of hate who try to justify these war crimes because one side or the other is one of the western media and politicos favourites.

Those politicians and those generals that send servicemen and women out to commit these war crimes and crimes against humanity need brought before the courts. There should be no exceptions because of nationality, creed, colour or political belief.

We are hurtling towards a catastrophic nuclear war. We need the peace brokers to replace the warmongers. Public opinion and demonstration are all that can be done. As always we will never tell you what you should think, vote or believe. Listen and watch and you decide what you need to do.

  • I more than suspect you are correct in your analysis that we are heading to a nuclear war.

An Israeli lawmaker was screaming on the other day about the need to kiss doomsday weapons. And as the bombing of the Gaza hospital shows, or indeed as so many of the other humanitarian bombings of civilians has shown over the last few years, it is a matter of when not if.

The British gave it to the Mesopotamians back in 1920 when the RAF mustard bombed remote villages killing and injuring over a 100,000. Earl Haig and Winston Churchill argued that we should not be squeamish about the use of such weaponry in citizens and indeed Churchill in 1920 argues for the RAF to gas town and villages in Ireland.

And then moving forward to 1945 the American bomb drops on two civilian cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were policies of pure intimidation. And ditto every humanitarian bombing from Belgrade to Aleppo ever since. Slaughtering and terrifying a couple of million rats in a trap in Gaza is just more of the same – and boy oh boy the USA and their British side kicks are most certainly going to let the Israeli Defence Force get on with a good civilian slaughter.

But maybe that sadly is humankind’s lot. A righty good slaughter every so on is to put is one way, very much in the blood. Question is now of course with today’s weaponry whose blood.

Britain’s armed forces ministers have boasted repeatedly about their beautiful lethal capability. And the Yanks do to. Both are cruising for a bruising. No body wins in this, But just think of our wee corner of the world and our West of Scotland nuclear weapons facilities. Just think of the Scottish pride that a first strike there would engender when Jocko takes one for Blighty.

Dulce est decorum et in pro patria mori.

We know it makes sense where sheep may safely graze.

  • When the USA recently tested their emergency alert system how come nobody is talking about how come Russia tested theirs the same day, do these superpowers know something we don’t, ? Is there something coming that we are being kept in the dark about ? ?

  • Of course in good old Blighty some months back when the UK ran a test warning to all mobile phones across all of the networks we were told this was for purposes of emergencies like storms, flooding and bad weather.

Not a dicky bird about a warning for an impending nuclear attack.

Mind you Karen, for residents in the West of Scotland and Glasgow with the Faslane and Coulport establishments on the doorstep there’s not much a warning will do in the event of a major nuclear conflagration as this area is a key target.
