Through A Scottish Prism 15/01/23

From Noon,Sunday.

Now available on the website, YouTube, Twitter, Rumble.

This week I am joined by Eva Comrie, Yvonne Ridley and Charlie Abel. The Coatbridge Cavalier is now in North Dakota and will be back with us next week. With Holyrood back in session, we had lots to talk about. We began with divine intervention, Pope Francis making reference to Scottish Independence being dealt with in an English manner? The UK economy being downgraded once more, this time to AA3. We remember how in 2014 when it was an AAA+ rated economy. We were told that the strength and broad shoulders of the UK economy was one of the reasons to remain in the union along with our EU membership. Is there a single thing they said in 2014 that didn’t prove to be a lie?

British Gas announced an eightfold increase in earnings while energy rich Scotland is freezing in fuel poverty. Police drop their enquiries into Elaine’s famous merkin protest. Holyrood being suspended due to demonstrations against Sturgeon inside and outside the Parliament building. We remind our viewers of the Dissent Demo on January 25th outside Bute House. A timely reminder for this demonstration takes all the more meaning with the news a young 16 year old girl in a Primark store in Derby was sexually assaulted!

We discuss the Freeports and their likely harm to Scotland, not just the chosen regions. At SNP Conference in 2018 the membership rejected Freeports yet here we gave Nicola Sturgeon and her leadership embracing and praising their arrival. It is fair to say the panelists do not share the same enthusiasm as the SNP.

We dissect the contrary statements on defacto referendums coming from SNP MPs, Smith, Mcdonald and Wishart. More can kicking?

This and so much more on your weekly review show and all Through A Scottish Prism.

Help me beat the censors.

Since I first expressed my opposition to this entire GRA nonsense I have found myself being banned and blocked on social media platforms. Even here many people who have subscribed to my blogs no longer recieve notifications when I post a new blog.It has grown worse since February last year when I made my views as a peacenik clear and refused to join in with the war mongers and their Russophobia. I have opposed wars my entire life and will not for the sake of popularity jettison my principles. If you agree with my musings in these blogs I would ask that you share my blogs wherever you can on social media and help me beat the censors and war mongers.

  • Hi Eva, we women of Scotland, many of us, are very much prepared to support ALBA on independence and women’s rights, but we need branches all over Scotland. Glad to see Charlie there, who is standing in the Aberdeen area. Can we get branches set up in every rural and remote part of Scotland?

Can we apply to ALBA to set up with volunteers? Women have been betrayed by the SNP/Greens, and I, for one, will never vote SNP again – never – unless and until they form an alliance with ALBA and ISP, etc. If they don’t, I will be campaigning for them to lose votes to these other parties, but that will be predicated on there being candidates from ALBA and ISP available everywhere for whom people may vote.

So, it is imperative that we have a choice of independence parties or the women’s vote will almost certainly be lost to independence, not least because, if the letters in The National are anything by which to judge, too many men in the SNP/Greens do not care a fig if women and children are sacrificed on the carroty altar of the SNP/Green pretendy independence that is never going to happen.

Unless the GRR is defeated – however that is done, and I would support a S35 Order, although I do not believe that Westminster will use it – too much confrontation, and the SNP would be forced to defend legislation that disadvantages half the Scottish population, albeit I can see them doing just that, so twisted have they become – we have to understand that the passing of this stuff is just the beginning. Queer Theory, on which it rests, requires that more and more existing laws will need to be brought down, and that new, draconian laws will have to be promulgated to ensure hat we all comply.

Unless ALBA start to make gains, it will be unable to prevent the GRR from moving on to the next phase, if Westminster lets it ride. That is the reality, and telling women to wait until we get independence is simply asking too much. No one would ever dream of asking men to give up all their rights until independence is achieved – not in a month of Sundays. Therefore, getting ALBA branches established everywhere is a must, an absolute priority, in my opinion. Also, a statement to the effect that new legislation to make biological sex the basis for all interaction is crucial, too.

Absolutely agree about the free ports – a con, again.

  • ALBA want a written constitution where rights are enshrined and a definition of ‘sex’ as ‘biological sex.’ For activist purposes, there are LACUs (branches) throughout the country and for more info about local campaigns/office bearers/meetings members can email headquarters@albaparty.org. Thank you Lorna.

  • Good to hear there will be a presence outside Bute House as I have said a couple of times here to stop the marches. Your problem is Bute House. Stop pulling your people out in all weathers and all over the country and concentrate there. It is my opinion that Sturgeon is a coward. You see a different Sturgeon when confronted off-script. Any pressure on her outside her domain would bring far more attention and pressure on her. I well remember Sturgeon speaking to people on the streets when one group led by a female with a camera crew with her. I watched this a few times and Sturgeon clocked her and she was off. Started to walk away across the road but was still confronted by the female and Sturgeon looked rattled. Pressure her.
Good to see Starmer this morning bringing up safe places and age especially after the statement from the Greens saying 6 year olds should be able to change. Labour Scotland will just have to deal with this. They were warned when Jenny Marra last term asked Sturgeon if 12 year olds can take Beta Busting body changing drugs without their parents permission. Sturgeon stood up and saiud yes and sat down. Labour will pay for this and hopefully Starmer will come to the rescue in the GRR.
On the SNP leader in WM seems to have done a u-turn on what election to use and the extraction of oil. Did not take long.

  • Hi Eva, did not mean to come across all heavy. Have been thinking of getting an ALBA branch up and running where I am (north, rural Scotland, north of where Charlie is), so I’ll contact HQ and see what I have to do or if there is one near me. This latest stuff about conversion therapy was so predictable as is the bringing down of existing laws that benefit females and promulgating ones that benefit ‘trans’. Have just heard through the grapevine, by the way, that Sunak is definitely considering a S35 Order now, regardless of the squealing from Holyrood. If it goes ahead, it will be interesting to see how the SNP and Greens defend the potential wiping out of women’s rights across the board, not just in Scotland. At least Westminster is not blind to the repercussions on all legislation that affects females.

  • Dipped into Twitter. Chris Law getting hammered on claim that Westminster interfering in Scottish parliament’s legislation and stating that people of Scotland wanted it. Boy, have they done it this time.

  • A good question to ask people who have voted SNP to-date would be this…
NB this question helps to distinguish between the independence supporters, party people or state actors

    Question:

“If it were possible for the Alba Party to offer the Scottish people a binding vote for independence on the 19th October 2023 would you Vote Yes for the Alba Party?”

    – Yes
    – No
