Summer is officially over, and both the Westminster and Holyrood Parliaments are back in session. This means we here on Prism are back to our two shows a week. Here on the review show I am joined by my regulars, Eva Comrie, Lloyd Quinan, Yvonne Ridley and Phil Boswell.
The week began with the SNP Programme for Government. Our panel has cast their ever vigilant eyes over Humza’s (Is it his?) offering to the Scottish people. The panel discusses its merits and deficiencies. Will this be enough to halt the slide in SNP support or will this accelerate the dissatisfaction among the Yes support?
The SNP Westminster leader Stephen Flynn announced a reshuffle of his team. This was a golden opportunity to offer a fig leaf to the dissenting voices in Scotland. Was Stephen smart enough to use this to bring onside those that have abandoned the SNP? Did it impress the panel?
It was a busy week back for Stephen he hosted Christine Lagarde the head of the US run IMF. The panel asks why an SNP leader is breaking bread with the head of a neoliberal financial institution that has promoted policies that have caused Scots so much pain and suffering. Does anyone in the SNP ever think about the optics? I wonder if they ate a seafood platter?
Not enjoying her time out of the limelight Sturgeon, the despot decided an intervention to lecture everyone about how bad the polarisation of politics is in Scotland and how she wanted to see more mature debate by Scots. There is hypocrisy on steroids and then there is Nicola Sturgeon!
Also a busy week for Fergus Ewing, on Monday the SNP were briefing against him suggesting he was likely to face disciplinary measures for daring to dissent. By midweek he was being named as MSP of the Year in the Holyrood Parliament. Most rational parties would have read the room. Our SNP is a law unto themselves. The panel discusses the implications and the likelihood of any fallout if the SNP removes the whip from Fergus Ewing.

Was very disappointed to hear about Fergus Ewing. No doubt about it: they are getting rid of those who speak out and who belong to the old SNP, the ‘broad church SNP’). The level of stupid self-destruction is almost – but not quite – unbelievable. One of the biggest problems is that the professional staff are simply too inexperienced across the board to steer the politicians in the right direction: no apparent research undertaken before spouting off; no legal basis for so much of what is proffered as being legally viable; and no geopolitical or historical analysis and understanding of the world around us. Just straight out of Stonewall’s playbook.
As Lloyd says, independence is the key to all future policy, but the calibre of MPs/MSPs now is so low, with ability in inverse proportion to ambition, that there appears to be no way to change the SNP’s course or slough off the parasitical Greens. I admit that I am close to losing all hope. You can make headway with people who are apparently stupid, but you cannot make headway with people who are wilfully stupid. The SNP will die.
Sorry, BB, meant to add that Sinn Fein, also captured by the gender woo woo, are now intent on destroying any hope of Irish reunification. You just could not make up this stuff, you really couldn’t.
