The Labour Party are 30 points clear in the polls does this mean there is now no chance if a snap general election? After Starmer, Sarwar and Murray all repeat the Labour Party stance of never cooperating with SNP under any circumstances will Nicola Sturgeon finally end her pursuit of deals with SLAB?
The non appearance of Nicola Sturgeon and almost every elected SNP member at AUOB the can the grassroots finally assume that, we the people are on our own?
Next weekends SNP Conference has no motions on Independence, Currency, Central Bank, Borders, EU readmission, does that sound like a political party that is planning to vote on independence in a year’s time?
The need for SNP to supply a further submission to the Supreme Court after the abysmal case by the Lord Advocate can we hope for a positive outcome?
The Donbass Referendums are there any lessons for Scotland to learn? Is this the beginning of the end for the US global hegemony?
With all that is going on are our panel optimistic or pessimistic about Scotland’s short-term future?

Well of course she can. Scotland accepts whatever political decisions Westminster and the Tories make. It’s as simple as that. Out of Europe, austerity mark one, the undermining of the Scottish Parliament for whatever that Mickey Mouse Assembly it is now worth, soaring energy prices with the consequent heating and lighting poverty crisis, and now huge tax cuts to the wealthy with benefit and social service cuts to follow.
As the manager of a Bank of Scotland branch said to me the other day about inflation destroying pensions, savings, incomes, – ” we’re all in the same boat ”
So, there you have it. All in the same boat. Let us take whatever we get. Powerless little people. Like animals in a pen. It’s our lot. Sadly, we have not had our faces ground hard enough into the gutter by the English Tory boot. Of course, the Tory prime minister and her ilk, can remain in power.
Excellent stuff again, Roddy. I absolutely agree with Eva that NS is trying to shore up her support for the time that it all goes pear-shaped again. It is time that we all gave the SNP a body swerve, but, alongside that, we need to pull independence supporters out of their ranks if we are to force the SNP to change course, although I don’t actually hold out much hope of being able to do that. Anyway, what is the point of making a reluctant SNP leadership do something grudgingly that they do not want to do. Pointless. No, it has to be a concerted effort now to pull supporters out of the SNP for the greater good.
That, essentially, is what happened in Ireland, and they, too were in a state of political stasis until it was done. Therefore, that will mean treading a fine line between pointing out the SNP foot-dragging at every opportunity and convincing its followers to desert because independence will not come via the SNP. Think of Labour in Scotland – reduced to one MP and a handful of MSPs – and still it toes the Westminster line. Nah, the SNP is not going to change, so we have to suck it dry ruthlessly. Sorry, but I have no compassion left for the wilfully stupid.
Alec Salmond is our great hope, even if unforgiving people cannot accept him as the leader of the independence movement – yet, at any rate. His strategy and tactics are of immeasurable help to us now, and we would be mad to turn our backs on them, and him. I hope that, eventually, we will hear him on television and on the radio speaking to our nation again. I keep hearing about fear, but I’m not sure it is about fear. I think it is much more about a leader and cohort who have settled on a political path and they will not be drawn from it. There is something of the Shakespearean tragedy about the SNP these days – in the sense that they will bring their demise on themselves by their inability to change lines when the signal changes, and derailing is inevitable.
I think the eastern provinces of Ukraine are lost. I very much doubt that Putin wanted all of Ukraine – that was Western propaganda – but he did need to disable Ukraine proper to take the East, albeit there are still many Russian speakers in Ukraine proper. With the Eastern provinces, Russia now has the whole swathe of the border areas right down to Crimea and the Black Sea, with unhindered access to the Bosphorus. Albeit Archangel and Murmansk are no longer ice-bound for three quarters of the year, the Black Sea allows access via the Bosphorus to other oceans and regions of the world. I am not taking sides: too many innocents have died for that; and I have never supported the invasion; but we have to be realistic in the West and accept now that our ruling elites have been outmanoeuvred and outwitted by Putin. When you set out to interfere in another country’s democratic decisions, even when they are to retain links with Russia (Ukraine 2014) they can always blow up in your interfering coupon. It is to be hoped that Zelenskyy and Putin will come to the table soon.

Another brilliant installment of the Scottish Prism. A strategy for going forward emerges… We who want Scottish Independence need to realise that we have been evicted from the house we became too comfortable in. It is the SNP that owns that house. Well, we need a new house.
And if they want us to visit, they need to get theirs in order and throw us a party. A good one. One that we feel comfortable spending time at.

Picking up on what Phil said about a left wing party in Scotland and England not wanting Corbyn. I have to say Scotland did not want Corbyn either. The clown Smith beat Corbyn handsomely in the constituency ballots much to my despair . The number done on Corbyn was very successful. You always must remember Sturgeon telling her minions to vote for a GE in 2019 alongside the Tories knowing fine well the Tories and Bozo were well in front. I have to say they outsmarted Corbyn on voting for the election as the SNP then abstained and in one move in getting the election the SNP wanted, they totally destroyed the peoples vote on rejoining the EU.
Sandy Corbyn was beaten by you and your fellow Labour Party members and employees.Nobody else to blame!
Not me but I know what you mean. Sat talking to him 3 times and he signed a painting one of our campaigners painted of him for me. He was brought down by the Jewish community also. We were warned beforehand this would happen and also by the press but yes BB my fellow Labour members did play a big part. My local MP during the Corbyn tenure told me that it was poison down there in WM. The difference on the doors between 2017 and 2019 was like night and day. Quite a few doorstep incidents in the 19 campaign. Job done.
His hypocrisy over Scottish self determination is hypocritical. It seems he took a script from Ian Murray and Pamela Bash and just spewed House Jock colonialism. While he believes in every other nations self determination told me he was first and foremost an English metropolitan imperialist.He believes in a United Ireland a two state Palestine, a free Tibet etc but Scotland and Wales must remain part of greater England. London man speak with forked tongue!
